Comments!

After receiving several emails in the past week about my blog postings, I decided that it was time to add in a commenting feature. So now, thanks to the fine folks at enetation, I have commenting.

I'll try my darndest to keep up with reading (and responding, if necessary) your comments if you leave them. (At least on the active posts--I'm sure I'll get around to the comments in the archives too, just maybe not as often).

So, comment away! :)

Fucking Free

While the U.S. Supreme Court may have erred big time when it upheld the law allowing the government to force filters on public libraries, they came through today by striking down Texas's anti-gay sodomy law.

Now, if you'll excuse me, my girlfriend and I are going to celebrate in the most fitting way possible...

That Ringing Sound from the North

Due to recent court rulings, it seems that same-sex marriages are now legal in Ontario, and will soon be in the rest of Canada as well. And since Canada has no residency requirement, scores of American couples are streaming across the border to wed.

Not that we're looking to tie the knot right away--after all, there are still many legal questions remaining to be resolved. But the bridge is only a couple of hours away, and its nice to have options...

Fill Me Up!

While checking out Yahoo! Movies today I stumbled across a movie coming out soon titled Gasoline. I know nothing about the movie other than what you'll find on the distrubutor's Website, but any movie about lesbian lovers on the run from the law and bad guys sounds interesting in me. The London Lesbian & Gay Film Festival describes it thusly: "Surreal, atmospheric, ultra-stylish and hip... Gasoline is ultimately the bitter-sweetest love story of the Festival."

Of course, since it's a foreign film (Italian) and about lesbians, the chances of it coming to a theater near me are pretty remote. So I guess we'll have to wait for it to come out on DVD and rent it (thank God for NetFlix!)

Comix for Chix #5: Bruno

Soon after Christopher Baldwin's delightful strip Bruno begins, our titular heroine decides to drop out of college and explore life. (Yes, it's the recipe for any number of 'slacker' stories, but with Bruno it works.) As with many young women, part of that exploration involves her sexuality, and after an abortive attempt or two (she comments about her first girl-girl experience: "Too many breasts. Too confusing.") she comes to the realization that she's bi. It's a slice-of-life strip that basically follows Bruno as she works her way through life, told with humor and charm.

Baldwin makes excellent use of his single-panel format, using the spacing of dialogue to tell a story within a single frame. His artwork shows a deft touch of the pen that starts strong and continues to improve.

One of the best things about Bruno is that you can read the entire run of the strip online for free! So give it a whirl--and if you enjoy it as much as I, consider supporting the creator by ordering one of the nifty collections.

Getting the Job Done

Well, Osama bin Laden & Saddam Hussein are still on the loose, but thank God we've finally dragged Martha Stewart to justice. I feel safer already!

Guess maybe Martha should have donated soft money to the Republican party, so she could get off easy like the other CEOs...
