hate to be the bearer of bad news but the situation just got worse not better. Had the democrats won both houses the grown ups would have forced discipline on the part so as not to screw themselves in the next presidental election.
But with the senate tied there is no incentive to be responsible. Knowing the Republicans will block any real efforts to change things the Democrates are free to pander to their base. Republicans will welcome this since the all the democratic fire works will have the net effect of motivating the red state conservatives to protect themselves aganist the red menance (or what ever we are calling it this week)
Expect a great deal of noise and smoke but very little of real substance until the next election.
Meanwhile the bad men remain just out reach waiting for an oppertunity.

Rummy got canned and the Dems just won the Senate. Now THAT's progress.
Vietnam was a disater because of political infighting and
Iraq is going the same way.
Party politics must stop at the door of Defense of Our Country.
A 50-50 split in both houses ,No two-thirds Majority in either,is exactly what this country needs.
No legislation can be override a veto simply and real negotiations will have to happen.
What will the Dems to Jack Abramhoff ,The Super Lobbyist ?
Will his testimony and depostions ever see the light of day ?
His Dealings cut across all spectrums ,political,religous,gender,racial and so on.
