Will You Vote?

It's Super Tuesday!!!

Will you vote? And if so, will you vote for Barack Obama in the Democratic primary? You can if you live in one of the following Super Tuesday states:

Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Colorado,
Connecticut, Delaware, Georgia, Idaho, Illinois, Kansas, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Missouri, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Utah.
And if you do, and swear to me here via a comment to this post that you did or are going to, I will make the following unprecedented promise: I will post a picture of myself. To this blog. For all to see.

But I have to receive at least 20 such comments by 8pm Tuesday night, eastern time. And for a comment to count it has to include which state you are from and a promise, on whatever Bible you believe in, that you're telling the truth.

Get up and vote!!! My life doesn't have to be the life of future generations. We can aspire to more. Vote Barack in 2008!

The man can give a brilliant speech, that's for sure. I'm profoundly jealous of his (26 year old!) speechwriter.

Anyway, I live in NYC and I do plan on voting for Obama—for all that he's going to lose NY state by 10-20%, he still gets delegates :).

Oh, right. I promise to vote for Obama, and I swear so on Mario Cuomo's "Two Cities" speech given at the Democratic National Convention in 1984.

That's the last time I actually wanted someone to be President, until Obama's arrival on the field.

California.

Voting for Clinton, because I think she's quite compitent and passionate. Obama was very sleazy throughout the election (imho), was always vague, and has never accomplished much.

If Obama wins, I'd be hard pressed to vote for him over McCain. Both aren't great choices. (Note that I voted for Gore in 2000, Kerry in 2004. Never voted Republican, never want to.)

I am voting for Rep. Ron Paul of Texas, because he is sincerely antiwar. If I were voting in the Democratic primary, though, I would totally go for Obama, because he has a better chance of beating McCain in the general election.

@ Anonymous (well, the one above me)

Obama was against the war from the beginning as well, if that helps.

@ Ben

Obama the sleazy one? Did you miss the part where Clinton paints Obama as "just a black man" who managed to win South Carolina because Jesse Jackson did? When her campaign says that Hispanics won't vote for him because he's black? Where she insinuates he holds Reagan's policies? Where Clinton says that the rules are important and Michigan/Florida don't count and then tries to make them count? Where Bill just starts lying about everything?

I don't dispute your opinion of Obama (although I disagree), but please take a closer look at Hillary.

I'm voting for Obama because I simply can't handle another 4-8 year continuation of Clinton-Bush partisanship. I'm in California for what it's worth, and do solemnly swear I will do so, as I believe it goes.

as a dye-in-the-wool Republican in the great tradition of Ronald REagan, I will be voting for Barack Obama. The Republican field terrifies me, Hillary terrifies me, and I really like what Barack is laying out.

Off to the polls in just a few minutes

Figured I'd drop off this comment on my lunch break --- I've already voted for Senator Obama. I'm in Atlanta, and the polls opened early here so I voted on my way into work.

- Obama was originally not against the war. He was not allowed to vote and was quoted as saying that he would have. The tides turned and as the media darling, they've tried to cover up that interview.
- I'm not too happy that Clinton was pro-war, but she didn't lie either.
- Obama's started a nasty campaign against Clinton early on.
- I would recommend that you look at the mailers that Obama sent, including those that called Hilary a racist and communist.
- The media has put a narrative on this election and heavily dislikes Clinton. In the last 8-years there has been a consolidation of media companies under Republicans and, with it, a major shift on what is reported. I believe that her negative press has quite a lot to do with that.
- Obama "won" his election against a dead Republican. He also did absolutely nothing of worth while in office. Not exactly a strong track record.
- While I think Bill went a little far in that remark, he had been attacked by Obama's camp by exaggerations of his actually fair comments. At that point, I think he was exhausted and upset. However, he wasn't as rude as you make him out to be.
- If you look at fact checkers, you'll see that Obama often exaggerates and lies about what he's said before.
- Even Obama's campaign adviser has apologized to Clinton saying they went to far. I'd look at what they've actually done and not go by the media.

I could go on. There is quite a lot that you don't seem to know. If you dig deeper than the narrative on CNN you'll find quite a lot of negatives.

Just voted for Obama in New York.

For me, it was a tough call. I had been leaning towards Hillary, as I generally tend to prefer the steak to the sizzle. But watching the enthusiasm Barack has been able to generate among tons of usually apolitical people finally tipped the scales for me.

What can I say, Shannon, you swung my vote!

P.S. Sorry, I forgot to swear to my Obama vote in New York (see above.) So here, I swear!

However, I don't think that there is any capital-b Bible I can honestly swear on. Shannon, I hope you can accept me swearing on the U.S. Constitution, which (a) I do believe in strongly, and (b) might be a more topic-appropriate document anyway.

To be fair, Hillary is at least a socialist/populist.

Then again, so's Obama, so I guess that's a wash.

I live in IL, and I really dislike all the canidates, but as a nominal republican (more neo-libertarian, really), I had to go with Romney, if only because I hate McCain more than I hate any of the Dems.

Between McCain and Obama? I'll vote Obama, but again, not because I like him more, but because I hate him less.

The litany of things wrong with Obama is only slightly less annoying.

"In the last 8-years there has been a consolidation of media companies under Republicans"

Dude. There's Fox News. And like 4 radio hosts.

Would you care to contrast that with the rest of the networks/outlets/personalities?

Would you like to list for me the Hillary donars than have been idicted for fraud? Do you even recall those stories?

Once Hillary or Obama get the nod, the negative stuff about them will absolutely stop, and won't ever be mentioned again. Mark my words.

"If you look at fact checkers, you'll see that Obama often exaggerates and lies about what he's said before."

Wow. A hillary supporter harping on this is like Bill attacking someone for having had extra-marital sex.

Anyways, I voted in my primary, but sorry... Not for Obama.

Not gonna lie just for the pic. I have more self-respect (and for you dearhost) than that.

And fallen, if you think a vote for a SENATOR FROM THIS STATE doesn't mean much (in a state that's gone dem for ages and ages)...

Suffice to say, Obama will carry IL. Easily.

He's buddy-buddy with the Daleys... He'll win even if no one votes for him.
