Commentary

I had a hard time getting into this story. I lay the blame for that in a number of places. First there is the age of the main character. I have a hard time getting aroused by a description of a 12-year-old losing her virginity. If the story is described in such a way that her age is not emphasized, then I might be able to ignore this fact, but that is not the case here.

Second, there is the large amount of narration sans dialogue. Okay, let me take a step back. There is dialogue in this story, I am not trying to deny that. My problem is that there is not enough to satisfy my tastes. What you end up with, when you have as much narration as there is in this story, is much more description than there is "meaningful" interaction between the characters. It was just too one-sided for me.

Third, and finally, there is the plot. It seems as though this story could have been split in to two separate stories. That may or may not be apparent from by summarization of the plot. I think that if I had been more taken in by some of the other elements of the story then I may have been a bit forgiving when it came to the plot; unfortunately, I wasn't.

This is not a badly written story. It will probably appeal to women more than it does to men. If dialogue isn't as important to you as it is to me and you don't mind reading about a 12-year- old having sex, then you may enjoy this story.
