That Sounds Familiar

So there's a movie coming out soon called Aquamarine, and from what I can piece together from the trailer, part of the plot revolves around two teenage girls who are best friends, who only have a few days left during the summer before one of them has to move to Australia. A plot which reminds me in ways of a certain story that I wrote a few years back.

Of course, given that it's a PG-rated family movie, I doubt there's any lesbianism to be found. Nor did my story have any mermaids...
