THE NEWSGROUPS

Currently there are four main spanking newsgroups. This is mostly due to the fact that spankos feel rather strongly about their groups, and tend to get political about it. From oldest to most recent the Ng's are:

Alt.Sex.Spanking is the "origional" group. In 1996 many members broke away from ASS to form SSS. This was mostly because of spam and propagation issues on the Alt.Sex.* heirarchy. As a result, all legitimate posts still carry the ZZZ: prefix to denote them as non spam. ASS is unmoderated. The subgroup Alt.Sex.Spanking.moderated is hard moderated, meaning that all posts must be approved by a designated moderator.

Soc.Sexuality.Spanking is both the most well propagated, and most well populated group. This is mostly due to the fact that it is outside of the Alt.* heirarchy. This is my the main group I read, and the only one I post in. It is also a soft moderated group, meaning that posts are subject to approval by a robot moderator. Posting is currently done by sending email to sss@gelemna.org. Discussions of a political nature occasionally arise, but participation is strictly voluntary, and not recomended.

Alt.Personals.Spanking is simply there. It has no real community, and I never plan on posting there. If you got it, check it out, but it probably is not the best place to meet people.

Alt.Spanking.Reality is the newest member of the spanko ng family. It was formed early in 2001 by a group of SSS and ASS'rs who didn't like the way things were being run (Power hungry Whiners). The people there seem to have strong views on what they like, and have no concern about stepping on others who are different. Okay, so we're all human, and maybe I'm a bit biased, but I never said I was trying to look at things from a fair viewpoint.


Getting Access

Unless you are paranoid about security and or privacy, your isp's newserver should do just fine. Most people choose to adopt a nickname, and use a seperate email address. If your newserver has censored these groups, or you do not have access to a newserver, your first move if you wish to get involved seriously is to find a free newserver. http://www.newsservers.net maintains a list of these. Most carry at least SSS, and some support posting. You can also get access to all groups at Google Groups.
