Story description:  Waco Lariat Goodnight's dad, Charlie Goodnight, takes his young cowboy son to a slave auction house to buy him a personal body slave for his twelfth birthday.  The boy picks out a huge lummox creature to befriend and rescue from the hands of an unscrupulous slave dealer who is trying to pass off the man-monster as a hairy escaped slave.  It's the beginning of a wonderful adventure for him and his dad in a world where slavery has been reintroduced within the U.S. by a powerful pseudo-christianist fundamentalist political power-based corporate theocracy who rewrite the Constitution for their own warped purposes.  They insist it's okay to own slaves because the bible tells them so.  Fundamentalism has almost become the equivalent of the Islamic Taliban.

This novel is about the suffocation and abuse of organized religion as has been witnessed so many times in the past where people have had to relocate to escape persecution or to free themselves from rigid, life choking dogma exemplified by the early Roman Catholic Church, Islam and rabid fundamentalism of any variety.  It is the story of a group of folks who band together to join with an old space cowboy who has returned to Earth with a fleet of ships to save those who have learned the difference between myth and reality.

Waco’s Lummox is an homage and tribute to Robert Heinlein for all the many pleasant hours he afforded me reading his works when I was a young man.  His insights and humor helped me at a time in my life when I needed hope, guidance and encouragement when there was none.  It is Waco, and Charlie Goodnight’s story and the gathering together of those of like minds and talents to be ‘raptured’ in the final days.  It is purposely written in a loosely based rambling style reminiscent of Heinlein’s last great work, “Time Enough For Love.”

This story is pure fantasy and has limited claim to any reality except the author's personal study of cryptozoological creatures and speculation about them.  Any reference of sex with a minor within this story is done so within the context of the fantasy world created by the author and has no basis in reality; neither, would he ever condone such.  If you have a difficult time separating fact from fiction don't read this story!
