We went shopping on Saturday because Spiky wanted to buy herself socks, but not just any socks. They are special soccer socks. It took us a couple of hours to find what she wanted and we bought other things along the way. When we came home she gave me a modeling show while trying out her new clothes. That was when she asked me for pocket money. It surprised me a little because she's never asked me for money before and she also receives pocket money from her parents, but I didn't want to look like I was trying to get away from it so I gave her some money. I didn't ask her why she needs it. Maybe she wants to buy a present for Else or something for herself.
We stayed in bed for most of Sunday. It's so hard to get out of bed when it's snowing outside and there is a beautiful, warm little girl sleeping next to you.
Ella came over on Monday evening and then we went out for dinner. I haven't seen her for ages but she hasn't changed a lot. She works now for a local newspaper company but she doesn't like it. She said she's looking for something else. I remember when I first met her how she wanted to be a lawyer for gay and lesbian rights. Maybe she'll find work like that one day but I don't know how open minded she really is when she couldn't accept me and Spiky being friends.
We talked about holidays and she asked me if I'll go anywhere. I said that Spiky will stay with her friends and I'll probably stay at home or go somewhere quiet. Then she said I could go with a group of her friends who are going hiking for a week. She said she would like to go too but can't because she's working. I wasn't sure then because I didn't want to get stuck in yet another party so I said I'll think about it. But hiking sounded good so maybe I'll even go. If I'm lucky I might even meet someone interesting to talk with.
Spiky called one day when I came home from work. I think it was Tuesday. She wasn't feeling very cheerful on the phone so I asked her what's wrong. I thought she had problems with her mom and dad but she said she and Else had an argument about which friends to invite to their party. I'm glad I'm over those teenage dramas. I told her I went out with Ella and that maybe I'll go out of town for a few days over New Year holiday. She said she'll miss me but she still wanted to party with Else. Oh well.
