It's been raining here for days, and Nikki and I felt lazy so we didn't do anything adventurous on weekends. One Sunday we watched a really cool movie. It's called "Bend it like Beckham" and it's about a girl who likes to play soccer. Her family doesn't like it because they are very traditional and they also think she and another girl from her team are lesbians. It's a comedy and we both liked it. Nikki liked it because it's about girls and soccer. The girls are cute too.
It's been pretty wet here for some time but I'm looking forward to sunny weather so I can take Nikki out hiking one weekend. We've been to the gym and practiced rock climbing. We've met some interesting people there like one girl who is really good at climbing. She said she's been climbing since she was 12. She's now 21 and she won some awards at climbing competitions. She also showed Nikki how to warm up and how to properly use the rope in case she falls. I hope she's not flirting with her! They are closer in age but I don't think Nikki was too impressed with her.
One night I went out with Ella, Monika and some of their friends. I think Monika is really cute but so is Ella, only she doesn't think about getting back together. I don't know if she told Monika anything about me and Nikki. I hope not. I'd like to be friends with her but I'm not ready to go down the same path like I did with Ella even if she wanted to.
We have also visited that gay and lesbian library one day. I promised Nikki we'll go there after we come back from our trip and so I finally took her there. We borrowed only one book, it's called Girl2Girl and it's about young girls and how they discovered they are lesbians and how they cope with it. There was also another book about gays and lesbians in sports which Nikki wanted to read but we couldn't find it.
Last weekend it was pouring down and we only got out of bed to have something to eat. It's my favorite time with her when we are in bed and there's nothing else to do. We can talk or watch movies or kiss and cuddle all day if we want to. This weekend was busy and she helped me with shopping and cleaning. It's actually nice having a little helper around sometimes but now she's learned to ask for awards for being helpful which can be anything from a kiss to helping her with homework or taking her out to the movies.
Yesterday we had an interesting conversation. She asked me if she could tell her best friend about us. Her best friend is a girl from her class. Her name is Sandra. I wasn't surprised that she wanted to tell her friend but that she asked me if that was the right thing to do. So we talked about it and she said Sandra knows that she likes girls. She told her this some time ago but Sandra asked her about me because she's seen us together so Nikki made up stories about me. But now she said it would be "cool" to tell Sandra about us. I've met Sandra before and I think she's a nice kid but I feel uneasy about coming out ever since that soccer game scare that we had. But I don't like making Nikki pretend and make up stories. It's really hard to know what is the right thing to do. I said to her, if the only reason for telling Sandra about us is to look "cool" then it's too big a risk. She will be 14 next year and I think it will be easier for us to be seen together as girlfriends in public. At least I hope so.
