K's Diary. . .

Sunday, December 28 2003

I started writing in the diary on Friday but then Nikki came over and I had to stop so I could spend time with her.

I went to my parents' and spent the morning there. I came home in the afternoon and felt a little lonely because I was missing Nikki who was at home with her family. I went to bed thinking about her.

Nikki likes ice skating. I used to go with her and Ella ice skating before but now she goes with her friends and she likes to be alone with them so I don't want to bother her. Besides, I'm not as good at ice skating as I used to be when I was younger. It can be fun having a bunch of girls in the house when they come over which isn't every time they go ice skating. She has some cute friends but I try not to make her jealous by telling her that. She can be very jealous sometimes, it's amazing.

I gave Nikki her books yesterday, they were the College Schoolgirl one and Lyra's Oxford. She likes them both and we spent some time reading them and looking at the pictures. I don't know which one she likes better. I think she likes each in a different way. She was excited about the lesbian one and surprised by the fantasy one because she didn't even know it was published and she enjoyed reading about the girl character from that book before. She will take them both home tomorrow.

We haven't done much around here because it's been raining but we hope it will get better for the New Year so we can go out and see the fireworks. Nikki's been helping me around the house with cleaning and shopping. It's not her favorite activity but it will look better for the New Year when we'll relax and have fun with each other. Yesterday we went shopping and we met one of her friends at the shop who was there with her mom. She had a few words with the girl while the girl's mom took the chance to ask me about Nikki. She thought I was her mom! It was quite funny because she looked puzzled when I told her I wasn't Nikki's mom. Instead I said we were friends and then we moved on. I think it will be harder to explain our relationship to others as Nikki grows up because she's not a little girl anymore who needs someone to look after her and I'm still much older than her to be her school friend.

We bought some food for the New Year and then in the afternoon we went to the cinema to see School of Rock. It's a funny movie and we both loved it. We kept laughing all the time. On the way home she asked me if I would take her out to see Winter Circus in February just before her birthday. I said it would be fun but I don't know if we'll get tickets.

By the way, I was thinking about inviting her parents to dinner one day. I think I will take them out maybe because I haven't seen them for some time and it would be a nice thing to do.

I should go now because it's getting late. Nikki is watching TV and eating popcorn. I hope she doesn't get it all over the carpet. I think I'll go and give her a cuddle and kiss. :)
