K's Diary. . .

Sunday, August 11 2002

I had a really great weekend. It's Sunday afternoon now, so I decided to take some time and write in my diary. On Friday I went to see Changing Lanes. I didn't want to go by myself, so I called one of my friends and asked her if she would like to go with me. She was happy I called her because we haven't seen each other for a long time. Her name is Leana and we went to college together. We had a great time out. She changed a little and she lives with another girl who didn't come with us this time. It was fun talking with her because we had so much to catch up with. She was surprised when I told her about Ella and she said she wanted to meet her when she comes back from Hong Kong. She asked me if I still like young girls so I told her about Nikki and she was kind of shocked when I told her Nikki's age, but not in a bad way. I think anyone would be surprised. She wanted to know if I was scared that someone could find out, so I told her I was, but I think it's more important for me and Nikki to be together than anything else.

We saw the movie together. It's not a bad movie. We both liked it. I think it made a good point at the end. Then after the movie we went out and had dinner in some local restaurant and talked about people we know. She invited me to go out the following day and I said it would be great because I was alone and had nothing else to do. She wanted to go out with her friends, some of which I met before so I thought it was a good idea.

The next day I decided to go to my parent's place. We had lunch together and I told mom about Ella. She didn't know Ella was living with me. My dad pretended he didn't hear it but I was expecting it anyway. It wasn't the most cheerful time but we all got along and they didn't make any bad comments about me. I think they accepted the fact that I won't change which is good but I wish they didn't blame me for the way I am.

In the afternoon I met with Leana again and then we went to the place where we met with her friends. The place we went to is a nightclub and sometimes they have bands playing there. But this time it was less noisy, and they only had some music playing in the background. It was really great to meet with people I hadn't seen for a long time, but I mostly spent time with Leana. She was telling me how at one point she was dating a guy and they were making plans to get married, but then she changed her mind and decided not to date guys anymore. She said it was only an experiment because she had never done it before in her life and she wanted to see what it was like. So now she's back with her old girlfriend. I met her too but I didn't like her very much. She's kind of cold with people and I don't know what Leana sees in her. We stayed there until late and Leana gave me a lift back home. We promised to stay in touch with each other, and I said I'd call her again when Ella returns so we can all go out together.

When I came home I checked my e-mail and found out that Nikki wrote me a letter! I was really excited. I was expecting a postcard from her but instead she wrote an e-mail because they have Internet in their hotel. She's so sweet and I miss her so much now. This is her letter:

Hi K!
I miss you but I'm having a good time too. It's really hot here and I swim every day. Yesterday we went to a ZOO and I saw a place where they keep rabbits and they let everyone play with them. I played with a white one that had black spots all over. I wanted to keep him, but dad said they are not for sale and we couldn't keep him anyway. I found a shell on the beach and it's all white, really really white! I think it could be a magic shell but mom says it's white because it's been on the beach under the sun for a long time. I'll give it to you when I come back. I've made some friends here too. I met a girl and her name is Sandra and we play almost every day. I think we'll play today too. I must finish this now because we're going out. Mom says hi. I love you K!
Bye!
Nikki.

Now I miss her even more. I wish she were right here with me so I could hug her and kiss her.

I heard from Ella too. She called me on the phone and said she arrived well, but she was tired so we didn't speak for long.
