Fish Tank Pretty-FormatterWe have developed a simple program that takes plain text stories and creates a version that is displayed nicely on The Fish Tank website. Press the "View Pretty" button in the story submission form to give it a try. While the program works in many cases, there are some common situations the program can not handle. For example, poetry often causes problems because the program can't tell the difference between a short paragraph and a single line of a poem. The program does a good job if the story you submit consists of paragraphs separated by blank lines, and we encourage authors to submit their stories this way, even if they do not use the pretty formatter. If you choose the pretty-format option, you will be given the chance to review how your story looks before it is finally submitted to The Fish Tank. We encourage you to take a quick glance through the entire story, paying particular attention to section breaks and any sections that are different than simple prose paragraphs. You will have a choice to turn on and off some of the options. If you look at your formatted story and something looks awry, try turning off some of the suspicious options and try again. If all else fails, bypass the pretty formatter and submit your story as raw text. |
