Desert Town Special 2015

The challenge was to write a short story with the following setting: This large town is located in the desert and looks run-down. It is best-known for a tumultuous history and its beautiful park. Also, rumor has it that the inhabitants are hiding something.

It was obviously a difficult tast, and I received only five stories, in the order as I received them:
