Chapter 4

=======================

Mifu and Faxt where on a boat in the middle of the
ocean, halfway to the Island of the Bird People, when
they were stopped by a mermaid, an inhabitant of the
kingdom of the sea no doubt.

The mermaid was very beautiful, with deep blue eyes and
blue hair that matched the ocean. Her skin was pearly
and flawless, and her breasts, although not very huge,
looked big in her small and curvy complexion. She was
wearing a gold tiara and a necklace, and nothing else.
They couldn't see past her hips into the water, but
they guessed that her fin was blue, since mermaid's
fins usually matched their hair color.

The question was, what did this mermaid want?

"You two are from the Island of Animals, right?" asked
the mermaid.

"Hum, yes. I'm Faxt and this is my girlfriend Mifu."
replied the cheetah-man.

"My name is Rei," replied the mermaid, "I'm a scout of
the kingdom of the ocean. Are you heading to the Island
of the Bird People?" asked the mermaid.

"Hum, yes. Why do you ask?" replied Mifu.

"It's just that last night one of our scouts saw a ship
part from the Island of Animals to the Island of the
Bird People, and it wasn't programmed." replied the
mermaid.

Faxt nodded, it was usual that the ocean people knew
which ship sailed where. After all, except for the
water surrounding the Five Islands, the rest of the
ocean was part of the kingdom of the sea. The other
kingdowms usually paid a yearly fee so their ships
could sail freely trough the waters from island to
island to make commerce. Private ships (be they owned
or rentals) had a certain logo painted under them so
the ocean people would know the nature of the ships.
Battleships had another sort of symbol, and commerce
ships had another symbol. This way the ocean people
could identify the nature of each ship.

For private ships there wasn't really any control, but
the ocean kingdom always wanted to be informed of where
different commerce ships would sail to, so they knew
what to expect and keep a control of the ships that
passed trough their kingdom.

"Not programmed?" asked Faxt, "What sort of ship was
it? Was it a commerce ship?" asked the cheetah-man.

Rei nodded, "Yes, it was, but it wasn't programmed.
Usually we tell each island's authorities when this
happens, so I was on my way to do that. But I heard
that there is a commotion going on at the Island of
Animals, and since your ship was going to the Island of
the Bird People too, I wanted to know if you knew what
was going on." inquired the mermaid.

"Actually," replied Faxt, "our magical rock was stolen
from the temple."

Rei's eyes widened, "Someone stole the Rock of Life!
That's terrible! Who would do something like that?"

"We don't know, that's why we're going to the Island of
the Bird People, to find out. That unexpected commerce
ship that you all saw last night must be the ship that
the thieves stole to escape the Island of Animals."
Replied Faxt. Now that they heard Rei, they knew for
sure that their next destination was the Island of Bird
People, they were on the right track.

"I see. We'll keep our eyes open in case we see
something else." replied the mermaid.

"Okay, and thank you for telling us about seeing that
ship last night." answered Mifu.

"No problem. Bye." and with that, the mermaid sank
underwater once again.

Faxt and Mifu looked at the mermaid swim away, then
looked at each other. "Well," said the redheaded
Catgirl, "let's go to the Island of the Bird People."

"Yeah, I don't like the looks of this." replied Faxt.

"Do you think that Suchiya was actually a spy of the
bird-people kingdom, sent to steal the Rock of Life?"
asked the Catgirl.

"It's a possibility, but I don't think so." replied
Faxt, "Even if that was the case, what good would come
from stealing the Rock of Life? And that still doesn't
explain why they had to steal a ship to escape, or why
those guards were acting so strange. No, I think this
is bigger than just that. Much bigger."

"I guess you got a point," replied Mifu. Mifu wondered
why they were getting involved in this, instead of just
telling the authorities of their island. Mifu shook her
head, she knew the answer to that.

The local authorities would think that the two
incidents had nothing to do with each other, since that
there wasn't anything that said otherwise (except that
the commerce boat and the Rock of Life were stolen on
the same night). And they really had no proof to back
up this. Mifu also knew that Faxt felt somehow
responsible for what happened since he was the once
that helped Suchiya when they had found her, being
attacked by a wolfpack.

Mifu didn't mind though, she was curious as to what was
going on, and she loved to have an adventure.

With the help of the wind, the ship sailed smoothly to
the Island of the Bird People.

***

Meanwhile, at the Island of the Bird People, Suchiya
was quite busy.

"Ah! Ah! Oh, yes, YES!"

"Oooooh!"

The bird-girl princess moaned in delight as she reached
an orgasm, the bird-man she was having sex with
reaching an orgasm of his own.

As he climaxed, the rather strong looking bird-man's
eyes went blank as his arms went limp.

Suchiya got up from the hotel bed she was on, and
started to get dressed again. "Okay now, get dressed,
go outside and wait for new orders." she told him.

"Yes my mistress." replied the bird man, and did just
as he was told.

Suchiya's grin widened as she saw the strong looking
bird-man getting dressed and leaving. She had been
having sex with over a dozen different bird-people
since she arrived back at the Island of the Bird
People, but she was far from done.

She had to get more servants for the army of her master
Diabolo. That way nothing would stand on the way of her
stealing the Rock of Air, which was being kept here, in
the Island of the Bird People, and being one step
closer of getting all five magic rocks.

Smiling, Suchiya walked outside of the hotel, looking
for her next victim.

***

After a few more hours of sailing, Faxt and Mifu
finally reach their destination, as they stop their
ship at the docks of the Island of the Bird People.

Faxt get's off the boat and ties a thick rope to the
dock, after dropping the ship's anchor.

Mifu get's off the ship too, but notices something
strange. "Hum, Faxt, this is a dock, right?"

Faxt didn't look up from his task, tying the rope
securely, "Yes Mifu."

"And docks are usually very busy at this time of day.
Right?" asked Mifu.

"Yes, usually they are very busy." replied Faxt as he
gave the finishing touches to the big knot.

"Why is this place deserted then?" asked Mifu once
again.

Faxt looked up after he finished the knot, and looked
around. Mifu was right, there was nobody here. Not a
single soul, all the ships were empty, nobody could be
seen coming or going anywhere.

Where was everybody! This was getting more and more
weir with each passing second.

Then, as if on cue, lots of different people started to
come out from behind the big dock houses that covered
the whole place. They were mostly bird-people, some
male, some female, but there were also some animal-
people as well. About twenty or so, and all of them
male.

By the look on their faces, they looked like they
didn't have good intentions.

Mifu didn't like the looks on this people's faces, it
reminded her of the looks of those two dog-men that
assaulted her back at the Island of Animals.

Faxt, sensing the approaching danger and that there was
going to be a fight soon, took out his metal staff and
got on a battle ready position. "Mifu, get on the boat,
I'll fight with them."

"What!? But there are too many of them! You'll never be
able to beat all of them!" replied a worried Mifu.

"I know, but we have no choice... escape on the boat
while I'm holding them back." said Faxt, as he watched
how the others were getting closer and closer.

"No! I won't leave you Faxt!" said Mifu, tears
threatening to come out of her eyes.

"Do it!" said Faxt.

"NO!"

Faxt then pushed Mifu into the boat, and jumped towards
the incoming horde of bird and animal people.

Mifu watched in horror how Faxt managed to knock a few
of them out, but was soon overrun by their high
numbers. They took away his metal staff, and were
getting ready to finish him.

"FAXT!" yelled Mifu in despair.

"Instantum Iluminarum Abraxas!"

*FLASH!*

Out of nowhere, a magical flash covered the whole area,
almost blinding everyone present and apparently without
any effect besides that.

The people attacking Faxt started to rub their eyes, as
the unexpected flash of light had the desired effect on
them.

Then, suddenly, a white and blue blur zoomed past all
of them, placing a strange looking paper ward on each
of their foreheads, with some strange runic writings on
them on its wake.

Then, after just too minutes, all of the attackers had
a ward on their forehead. All of them fell down, limp
on the floor, completely unconscious. As they fell
down, a strange looking black aura seemed to leave
their limp bodies, disappearing in thin air as they did
so.

Faxt and Mifu couldn't believe what they just saw. Mifu
ran out of the boat and towards Faxt, wanting to make
sure that he was okay, and Faxt quickly got up, picking
up his staff from where his attackers had thrown it
away.

"What... what happened Faxt?" asked Mifu.

"I don't know." replied an equally confused Faxt.

"It was me, I used a simple flashing spell to stun
them, then I managed to release their bodies with a few
purifying wards." replied a female voice from above
them.

Faxt and Mifu looked up, and saw a tall and elegant
bird-woman, she didn't look a day older than 25. She
had long black raven hair, and emerald green eyes. Her
face looked slim and sharp, she was wearing some white
robes with blue stripes on the sleeves and skirt, Faxt
and Mifu recognized them immediately as the robes of a
spellmaster. This girl-woman was obviously a
spellmaster, a magician.

The robes covered her whole torso from her neck to her
waist, and also covered her arms completely, except for
her slim hands. The robes were tied together with a
blue rope.

From the waist down, she was wearing a skirt which more
or less looked like the continuation of the robes. The
skirt ended just a little bit above her knees, and her
feet were covered by a pair of boots that reached to
her knees. Behind her, Faxt and Mifu could see the
bird-woman's big white wings, flapping as she hovered
over them.

The bird-woman started to fly downwards, until her feet
reached the ground and her wings folded behind her.
"Hello," she said to Faxt and Mifu, "My name is Liatri,
the spellmaster."

"I'm Faxt and this is Mifu," said the cheetah-man,
"Thanks for your help."

"You're welcome, but I was helping these people as
well." replied Liatri, "You see, it seems like they
were all being possessed by the evil energies of some
dark magical being." explained the spellmaster bird-
woman.

"They are being possessed?" asked Mifu, "I guess that
that explains why those guys acted the way they did
back at the Island of Animals." she added.

"Yes, they are being possessed, actually the whole town
was like this. I was able to escape this fate thanks to
my magical powers. I had to go back to my magical lab
to make as much of this wards as I could." replied
Liatri, then she registered what Mifu had said, "You
mean that this was happening at the Island of Animals
too?"

"Yes it has," replied Faxt, "In fact, the Rock of Life
was stolen last night from the temple."

Liatri's eyes widened, "The Rock of Life was stolen!"

"Yes, and we believe that the people that stole it were
the same people responsible for this," replied Faxt,
gesturing to the fallen people around them.

"Oh, my... do you think they might be trying to steal
the Rock of Air too?" asked a worried Liatri.

"Yes, we believe so." replied Faxt.

"Oh my... I have to go then! I can't let that happen."
Liatri took to the air once again, then looked down at
the cheetah-man and the Catgirl. "Will you two help
me?" she asked them.

Both of them nodded, "Sure we will." replied Mifu.
"That is the reason we came here in the first place."
added Faxt.

Liatri smiled and nodded, "Okay then, follow me, I know
the way."

Liatri flew away, being followed by Faxt and Mifu,
running below her.

Meanwhile, Suchiya and the rest of her servants were
well on their way to steal the Rock of Air from the
kingdom of the bird-people.
