I sighed. I was bored out of my mind, which isn't a 
good, or even usual, position for a twelve-year-old boy 
at a party, but in my case I was bored beyond belief. 
My cousin meant well, he really did, but he had no clue 
how to throw a decent party.

I got out of my chair and started to wander around, 
exploring the house. There really wasn't much to see, 
or much going on. It was, probably, the worst party I'd 
ever been at, which was surprising given that my cousin 
himself was fairy interesting.

Out of total boredom, I found myself wandering outside. 
My cousin's family had a huge backyard, complete with a 
basketball hoop. Figuring that it might help alleviate 
my boredom, I picked up the basketball and started 
dribbling, then fired off a couple shots. I wasn't any 
great shakes, but I was ok.

"Nice job," came a voice from behind me about five 
minutes after I'd started. I turned around and saw a 
girl standing there. She was about my age, I guessed,
