Palindrome II
by Nick Scipio
(299 words)
I looked at her and wondered what the future held for the two of
us; and then I smiled.
She nodded and smiled in return, somehow understanding my look,
and I felt a rush of emotion.
Did she know how much I wanted her? Could I put all my desire and
longing into my expression? I looked into her eyes and smiled
gently.
"You're beautiful," I said quietly.
Her blue eyes sparkled and she smiled as she looked away
bashfully.
"It's true," I said softly, letting the words sink in.
"Really?" she asked quietly.
I smiled reassuringly, and her shy grin made my heart sing. "I've
wanted to talk to you since I first saw you."
She smiled nervously and bit her lip. Then she looked deep into
my eyes.
"I want to get to know you better. I want to tell you all about
me, and my life," I said earnestly. "When I see you, I feel like
I'm whole, and I want to share that with you."
She smiled nervously and bit her lip. Then she looked deep into
