do." "Remember the estate has houses to rent if you need 
to." 

"Would you help me if we wanted to live together?"

"If that is what you really want and you both feel is right for 
you, yes."

"Oh Roy, I think we will but I am not sure how soon."

"As I said, take one day at a time." "What are you doing 
today?"

"He is taking me to somewhere called "Blists Hill," "What is 
it?"

"It is a living museum, a recreated village, as its Sunday, the 
rolling mill should be working to make wrought iron. A lot 
of other working exhibits are there as well. It is an amazing 
place. We might take Kate there as well." "Would you mind 
if we were there as well?"

"Of course not." "Would you want us to go together?"

"No Gill, you be with your boyfriend." "Go on up and wake 
him up for breakfast." Natalie and Kate came down and 
helped me with the breakfast. 

"Roy, I think Mandy went back with Nick, Jim and Becky 
last night as her room is empty." 

"I will just give Lisa a ring." I picked up the phone and rang. 
The phone was picked up and answered by Llewellyn. 
"Sorry Llewellyn I am just ringing to check Mandy went 
with you all this morning."

"Yes Roy she came with us, they are out preparing the 
horses. Do you want me to call her?"

"No it is alright, I didn't know where she was, I thought she 
would be with you all but I wanted to be sure." As I was 
speaking Kate came from the study, she had a piece of paper 
in her hand. It was Mandy's note to say she was going with 
the horsebox; she didn't want to wake me! I told Llewellyn 
that we had just found Mandy's note. "How are you feeling 
anyway?"

"Much better Roy, I feel so rested. Last week I couldn't 
sleep properly because of the pain when I tried to lie down."

"Well I hope you got the message that you are welcome to 
use the horsebox for as long as you need."

"Thanks Roy, Lisa said I could bring my horse to your yard, 
he can be ridden, in fact he will need to be used. As he needs 
the exercise." "I am so grateful."
         
"Don't worry about it. Lisa is manager of the stables." I rang 
off and turned back to breakfast. I told Kate about our extra 
guest. "Please don't stare at him."

"Ok dad, I won't."

Gill and Alex came into the kitchen. Alex looked so 
embarrassed, I felt for him.

"Don't worry Alex, you are both adults and you fell asleep. 
It happens. Now grab yourself a mug and get some coffee in 
you, breakfast will be ready in a few minutes." "I gather you 
are going to Blists hill today." "Gill will enjoy that." "When 
Gill told me I thought we would take Kate there as well, we 
won't intrude on you two. I hope you don't mind?"

"Not at all Roy, can I have a few minutes with you in 
private?"

"Of course, now or after breakfast?"

"After breakfast will be fine."

I served up and we took our plates through to the dining 
room. Alex told Kate all about Blists hill. We finished 
breakfast and as the others cleared up I took Alex into the 
study and closed the door. It was my code that we needed to 
be private, when I was in there with the door closed tight it 
meant I needed privacy and everyone was to knock. It was 
the only room that rule applied to. 

"Roy, I don't know if I am being forward but I bought this 
for Gill." He brought out a ring box and in it was an 
engagement ring. I know I have only known her for a couple 
of weeks but I love her and want to marry her." 

"Well ask her then, it will be no surprise to her parents or to 
me. We could see you both were head over heels in love 
with each other last night." "When are you going to ask 
her?"

"I thought this afternoon after the "Wedding" at Blists hill."

"I will make sure we are there for that." "I will ring Rose 
and Leonard up and invite them to come for dinner tonight. 
Then plans can be made. I know that Gill loves you as she 
told me so this morning." "Have you thought about when 
you would like to get married?"

"I thought about Christmas time, the last Saturday in 
December or the first Saturday in January."

"That sounds great."

Alex rejoined Gill and prepared to leave as Blists hill opened 
at 10:00. I rang Rachel and explained what would be 
happening today. No lunch and 3 extra for dinner. I rang the 
Red Lion and spoke to Leonard. They would be delighted to 
come for dinner tonight at 7:00. Then it was time to set off. I 
rang for a taxi as then if I wanted a pint or two in the 
recreated pub I could without worrying about drink driving. 

We arrived at Blists hill and I showed my family 
membership card and was waved through. Kate's eyes 
widened as she saw the staff in Victorian clothing. We 
walked along to the bank and changed some money into the 
old pounds shillings and pence. It felt strange handling the 
large coins, which had been especially minted with the logo 
of the Ironbridge Gorge on the back. We went into the 
chemist and then the sweetshop. Kate bought some sweets 
and shared them as we walked along. There were so many 
places to see. The steam winding engine winding the cage up 
and down, the plumbers shop and the plaster shop. It was 
amazing how the time flew by. We even watched them 
making candles and Kate petted one of the pigs, that's like 
your pigs isn't it. I looked at the label on the sty. Tamworth 
pig. Yes same breed as ours. We walked into the New Inn 
and I bought drinks, lemonade for Kate and Natalie and a 
pint of beer for me. A very tasty pint indeed. Then we went 
to the main street and waited for the transport. A Model T 
ford pick up with wooden benches in the truck bed. We 
bumped down the hill to the foundry and the Victorian fair 
complete with roundabout and swing boats. Kate had a 
wonderful time. Then it was in to the Forest Glen restaurant 
for lunch. 

We came out after lunch and walked down to the Toll 
keepers lodge and the squatters hut. We saw Gill and Alex 
every so often as we walked around, then we headed for the 
tin tabernacle for the Victorian wedding. The bride arrived 
on a cart. It was a pleasant tableau. I moved over towards 
Alex and Gill. The wedding finished and the audience 
started to melt away. I watched Alex take Gill's hand and 
start to move in front of her. I brought the video recorder up 
and started filming. Alex went down on one knee, holding 
Gill's left hand.

"Gill, will you marry me?" Gill gave a delighted squeal.

"Oh Alex yes, I will, I will." Alex stood up still holding 
Gill's left hand and brought out a ring and slipped it on her 
ring finger. A huge cheer went up for them as Alex and Gill 
kissed.  Gil blushed scarlet as she realised the cheer was for 
her. She saw me filming them and turned to me.

"Did you know what Alex had planned?"

"Yes Gill, Alex spoke to me this morning after breakfast."

"So that's what you two were doing in the study."

"Yes love it was. Alex was checking it out with me. Your 
parents are coming to dinner tonight, they have extended 
their stay until at least tomorrow."

"Oh Roy, I am so happy." Natalie, Kate and I gave her a big 
hug.

"Lets all go across to the restaurant for a drink. We made a 
happy party as we went back across to the Forest Glen. I 
ordered pots of tea and coffee and a milk shake for Kate. Gill 
and Alex were sitting hand in hand lost in each other's eyes. 
I went outside briefly to check dates with Kevin. Both the 
28th of December and the 3rd of January were free. I then 
rang Jo and asked him to earmark both those dates and we 
should be able to confirm in the next few days. I went back 
and joined my family drinking tea. 

I heard the whistle from the rolling mill followed by the 
sound of an engine working hard. I took Kate across and left 
the rest drinking tea and coffee. As we walked into the 
rolling mill Kate held my hand tight. You could feel the 
vibrations from the mill through the soles of your feet. Kate 
was rather nervous so I picked her up and carried her to the 
fence so she could see the red-hot billet passing through the 
rollers. Getting longer and thinner with each pass. The metal 
was worked and reworked. Finally it was finished and put in 
the rack. 3 men carried the next billet to the mill with tongs; 
the long process started again. I took Kate to the next-door 
workshop and we looked at some pieces they had made from 
the wrought iron. There was an ornate bird table, which Kate 
took a fancy to. I bought it for our home and arranged for 
them to deliver it. 

We went back to the Forest Glen and joined the others. We 
slowly walked up the hill to the shops and bought some 
cottage loaves to take home. I rang the taxi company and 
asked for them to come and pick us up. Gill and Alex went 
in his car. We got home and rang Rose and Leonard. They 
came on round and joined us all. Gill told her mum and we 
started talking about wedding days and plans. Gill was 
determined that she wanted to be married here. 

"What about all the relations in Dorset?"

"Can we organise a coach for them to come up in. I am sure 
it is not a problem." "Please mum, I feel safe here."

"Will Roy let you get married from here?"

"Rose, if you allow Gill to marry from here, then I have no 
problem with it." "Natalie and I feel honoured that she cares 
so much about this home that she wants to marry from it." 
"Can I organise the reception for her." "Though I am 
cheating a bit on that as I would ask the chap who did my 
reception in August." "If you two are quick you have time to 
get to the 6:00 pm service and book your wedding tonight 
and still be back in time for dinner." Alex jumped up.

"Come on Gill lets be on our way." They were out of the 
door like a shot. Rose looked at me.

"Well when Gill came home from university at the end of 
last term I never thought we would be talking about her 
wedding so soon." "She was so disturbed by the scarring on 
her body," "After that happened she never had a boyfriend." 
"I don't know what you did, or how you did it but I am so 
thankful to you for Gill's change." "Mandy and Kate as well, 
they are so happy now." "You have changed their lives so 
completely." I watched Mandy at the party last night. She 
was a totally different girl to the one who came to us for the 
holidays in July." "I am so pleased that you found out what 
was happening."

"It is Natalie you need to thank, she was the one who found 
out what happened to Gill and from there everything else 
flowed."

"Whoever, the thing is you 2 found out and you did 
something about it.

I went into the kitchen and checked with Rachel about the 
time for dinner. 

"I am looking at 7:30 or so, is that alright?"

"I will ring the horsebox and check how they are doing" I 
picked up the phone and rang; Nick picked it up.

"Hi dad, you all ok?"

"Yes son, just ringing to check when you will be home."

  "Lisa says we will be home by 7:00 pm."

"That's fine son, see you when you get here." I hung up and 
said that 7:30 should be fine. Make it 7:45 to be on the safe 
side.

I went back into the lounge. Natalie was talking with Gill's 
parents and Kate was spread eagled on the sofa, fast asleep. I 
sat down beside her to talk with the others. We were talking 
softly when I was aware that Kate was moving on the sofa. I 
stopped talking to watch as a hand moved above her head 
and onto my leg. There was a shuffling around and Kate was 
asleep on my lap, her head nestling above my cock and her 
arm around my waist. Rose laughed and said.

"Someone knows where her daddy is." I sat back on the sofa 
and gently stroked Kate's hair. We heard the horsebox 
returning, Natalie got up to see Lisa and Llewellyn. Nick, 
Becky, Jim and Mandy came in. Mandy saw Kate asleep on 
my lap and came over to me and kissed me. I'm going up to 
change. I watched her slim figure in white blouse and 
jodhpurs walk to the stairs, She had taken her riding boots 
off as she came in and her little feet covered in white socks 
peeped out from below her jodhpurs. She followed Nick, 
Becky and Jim upstairs. I heard the showers start. Natalie 
came back inside as I heard the horsebox leave. 

"Lisa is feeding Llewellyn tonight, I think she fancies him 
you know, well they have been meeting since Becky started 
riding, they are just thrown together a bit more now." The 4 
riders came down with wet hair and clothed in t-shirts and 
shorts. 

"Aunty Rose, I thought you were going home today?"
 
"We were but something else has cropped up so we have 
stayed on."

Alex and Gill returned from church arm in arm. Mandy 
watched them come in and then saw the diamond on Gill's 
finger. She screamed and pointed.

"You're engaged, when?" she sat back down looking at Gill 
with a look of amazement. Gill told her.

"Alex asked me to marry him today, I said yes and we have 
just been to the church and have booked to get married on 
the third of January."

"Can I be a bridesmaid Gill?"

"Both you and Kate will be bridesmaids and I am going to 
ask Natalie to be my matron of honour." I gently woke Kate 
from her sleep for dinner.  

"Oh Gill, I am so happy for you." Rachel rang the gong and 
we went through to the dining room. The chickens were on 
the carver waiting for me and all the veg were in the serving 
trolley keeping warm. Natalie served out the orange whilst I 
started to carve the birds. The aroma of cooked garlic and 
herbs was wafting from the carving plate as I carved slices 
from the breast. Natalie passed me a glass of orange and I 
drank it between carving slices of chicken. I served the meat 
and stuffing onto the warmed plates and passed them round. 
Every one helped themselves to the roast potatoes and other 
veg. Conversation died away as we turned to eating the 
dinner. The chickens were from the estate and so were very 
tasty. Everything else was home grown too. 

As we finished the main course Kate and Mandy cleared the 
plates to the kitchen. There was a fresh fruit salad; there 
were some tropical fruits in it but all the rest was estate 
grown. Next year we would be able to supply a fish course 
from the estate. Rachel had made the ice cream to 
accompany the fruit salad. We finished our meal and went 
through to the lounge. I took the laptop with us. I showed 
Leonard the software I had used for our wedding and asked 
if he wanted me to organise this one. Natalie had brought our 
file out and was showing Rose all the details we had 
prepared. Copies of the menu, the wedding invitations 
everything. 

Rose and Leonard were only too grateful not to have to 
organise the wedding. We sat down together and designed 
the card we wanted. It would go out in Rose and Leonard's 
name but the envelopes for the replies would have my 
address under their name. I showed them the menu we had 
used for our wedding and its response section. It had the 
guest's name and tick boxes for their menu choice. Leonard 
didn't have a computerised address book; there was just a 
notebook. I took it from them and said I would arrange for it 
to be transcribed. Then I would send it down on a CD Rom 
and an address book program. Tomorrow morning I would 
take Gill to Jo's and meet up with her parents to organise the 
menu for the wedding. I would also ring Blandford buses to 
hire a coach for Gill's relatives to come up.

Finally we had done all we could that night, Rose and 
Leonard returned to the Red Lion and I got Kate ready for 
bed. I went up and tucked her into bed and then told her a 
story. It wasn't long before her eyes were closing and she 
was drifting into sleep. 

Yet another day was over. We would be busy planning for a 
new life for Gill and Alex. Nick, Becky Jim and Mandy had 
all gone upstairs and Gill and Alex had gone to tell his 
parents the good news. I sat down with Natalie to talk about 
the events of the day.

"Roy, where will they live?"

"One of the 4 bed houses on Glebe Farm estate, the better 
estate, has just come on the market. The tenants have moved 
out and the owners have decided to sell. I know what it is 
like as I was involved in its design. I was thinking I would 
buy it as a wedding present for them. Then they can get it 
done up between now and the wedding."

"How about we pretend that it is an estate property which we 
will rent to them. Then give them an envelope on their 
wedding day with the deeds in it."

"Oh Natalie that is so wicked, I like it. I will ring Roger 
tomorrow morning to organise it, then we can tell them 
about the property and we can organise any redecorations. It 
will appear to go through the estate office but in reality it 
will be us." "Jerry will handle all the apparent details as he 
does all the estate housing agreements." "Your dad will take 
that over, probably next year." "It was an area that is not 
particularly busy but does have its own legal quirks so we 
decided that it would remain with Jerry for the time being."

"I can't wait to see their faces Roy when they get the keys. 
Even more so, when they open the envelope with the deeds." 

"Come on Natalie, time for us to head up for bed. Tomorrow 
is another day. Time to look at all the plans for the future.
