Marie - Part Four Chapter 1 Australia - The Present Jim had called QANTAS from his hotel and confirmed the reservations for Mr. and Mrs. Williams on the London flight. Marv had told him that he would have back-up people at Heathrow Airport in case Mitchell and Amy got to London ahead of them. They would subtly follow them and find out where they were staying. Jim felt pretty comfortable with the arrangements, they were the best they could do on such short notice. Somehow though this just didn't feel right - it was out of character for Mitchell to cut and run like this without a well developed plan. And the idea that he had "sent" the letter somewhere was out of character too. Well he told himself, he would have plenty of time to think about it on the flight to London, maybe he and Julie could work out the puzzle, but with so many pieces missing it would be more like guesswork. He had all of the baggage packed up, the weapons and radios were in the case for shipment by courier. He would drop it off at the airport when they went to check in for their flight. He had picked up Amy's and Julie's bags as well and had all of them in his room. He called down to the bell stand and asked for a bellman to come up and pick up the bags and get him a taxi to the airport then spoke to the concierge and asked for his bill to be prepared. He looked around the room to make sure he had everything and quickly left, taking the elevator down to the lobby to checkout. When he got to the front desk they had his bills ready, he was checking out of both his room and Julie's. As he signed the bills he noticed a charge on Julie's room for a DHL shipment. He was sure that none of them had shipped anything out of the hotel. He asked the concierge and he checked the computer, there had been a shipment yesterday he told Jim, he thought there would be a copy of the shipping slip that the hotel kept in case the package was lost or misplaced. "Do you want me to look for it Mr. Williams?" "Absolutely, I don't have my copy and I need to check the address to be sure it was sent to the correct place." Jim was amazed, it must have been Mitchell sending it from the hotel, but why here and not his hotel? The concierge brought back a flimsy slip of paper, it was the shipping companies copy, Mitchell would have kept the sender's copy - not realizing that the hotel would pull a copy for themselves. Jim examined the document. Sent by a Mr. John Morris to the Grand Hyatt in Jakarta to be held for his arrival. That sneaky son-of-a-bitch, Jim thought. He had sent the letter to Jakarta and somehow he planned to get there tomorrow - or maybe even tonight. London my ass. He stuffed the slip in his pocket, signed the bills and headed for the telephones in the hall off the lobby where he quickly placed a call to Marv. Marie answered the phone instead of Marv. She told him that her father was getting a few hours nap this afternoon, he had been up most of the night, and she was watching the phones for him. "Marie, I need to get some information from the computer." "Fine Jim, go ahead - if I can't find it I'll wake Pappa up for you." "I'm sure you can find it dear. I need you to look in the Hyatt main computer and see if there are reservations for Mr. John Morris at the Grand Hyatt in Jakarta - there are two Hyatts there, this one is the one on Thamrin, then access the hotel computer and see if they have reserved a room for him yet." "It will take me just a minute Jim, standby." A few minutes she was back with the information that there was indeed a room - a suite in fact, reserved for a Mr. and Mrs. John Morris of Vancouver, B.C., Canada. They had a guaranteed reservation and an early evening expected arrival time. The hotel had booked them into a suite on the fourth floor. "I made you a reservation in an adjoining suite under Williams, I assume that that is where you and Julie will be headed now." "Absolutely right. You're a step ahead of me Marie - as usual." Jim said. "Now check the airline computers and see how the hell Mitchell plans to get from his London flight to Jakarta tonight." Marie was off the line a little longer this time since she had to access several airline computers, there is no central computer system that covers all the airlines, particularly when international carriers are involved. Jim heard the line click as she came back on. "I assume that he does plan to take the Singapore Airlines flight this morning to London, since it has a stopover in Singapore I think that he and Amy will probably get off there. I can't find any record of a flight reservation from Singapore to Jakarta so they are either traveling under an different set of names - I ran Amy's Prentiss passport and didn't find anything there either, or they're going by charter; its only a hour flight at the most from Singapore to Jakarta. I would lean toward the charter. When Pappa and I ran a background on ANAs (All Known Associates-the abbreviation was spelled with an 'N' to differentiate it from the more commonly used 'Also Known As' which was AKA) a Mr. Sun Lim in Jakarta came up. We checked him out and he is a well known, and very wealthy dealer in drugs and underage girls in Indonesia and around the world. We think that he is probably brokering the deal with the Indonesian government for Mitchell." "Just what I suspected, Marie. That flight to London was a ruse to throw the Australian government off the scent. Pretty clever, but he slipped up when he sent the courier package from the Hyatt - he had to give them a room number or they wouldn't have sent it for him, and Amy's room seemed safe since he planned to take her out of Australia the next morning unexpectedly. He figured she would never see her bill, he would pay it from overseas, or more probably just stiff the hotel and let it be another mystery as to where Amy Prentiss went." "Well, no matter how you did it Jim, we are back in front of him again. We know where he and Amy will be showing up tonight, and where the letter will surface again. Do you want to see if we can get out man in Jakarta, Thomas Rashad, to pay off someone at the Hyatt and intercept the letter? I'm pretty sure he can pull it off, he is very clever and Pappa has a lot of confidence in him." "No, Marie," Jim said. "Not yet, you should consult with Marv about it and see what he advises. We've still got several hours before Mitchell can get to the hotel. Can you get Julie and I off the London flight and on to something to Jakarta?" "Already done Jim, I did it when I was checking the airline computers. You and Amy are on Singapore Airlines flight 217 to Jakarta, it leaves Melbourne in about ninety minutes. You should arrive about thirty minutes before Amy and Mitchell - depending on what sort of charter he has arranged. Thomas will pick you up at Soekarno-Hatta Airport when you clear customs. I'm still working to see if we can track that charter down, but until they file a flight plan it's going to be pretty tough." "OK beautiful, I'm off to pick up Julie at the airport and get the Sing Air flight. Fill your Dad in on the info, I'll call again from the airport just before we are ready to board." "Bye Jim, be careful. Our information on this Sun Lim guy tells us he is a real 'fils de putain' (son of a bitch), he will stop at nothing if he thinks he, or his money, is threatened. My love to Amy and Julie." Jim moved quickly to the escalators that went down to the motor lobby. He got a cab and the doorman put all the bags in the boot (trunk). Jim kept the small metal case with the weapons and the satellite radio equipment and his briefcase with him as he got into the back seat. He was still carrying his "cell phone" transmitter and receiver plus he had packed Amy's in his briefcase. He told the driver to take him to the airport, the domestic Ansett terminal first then the international terminal to Singapore Airlines. He had decided to send the weapons case to Sydney and have the man watching the boat pick it up. He figured that they wouldn't be in Jakarta long and he was sure that Marv's man Thomas could supply anything they needed along the line of weapons. If everything went as planned he thought they could be in and out in a few hours - at least he hoped so. He had a sudden thought and told the driver they had to make a stop before heading to the airport. Singapore Airlines Flight 212 enroute to London, with a stopover in Singapore, had reached its cruising altitude and the flight attendants were serving breakfast in the main cabin. Amy watched the beautiful young women moving quietly down the aisles with their carts. She marveled at how beautiful and delicate they looked in their ankle length dresses with the tight tops, their long black hair caught up on the top of their heads. She wondered how she would look in a dress like that - they probably don't make them my size in the top she thought ruefully. These were the most beautiful flight attendants she had ever seen, even Mitchell was momentarily distracted from staring at her tits. He had really gotten overt in staring at her, and once he even pushed his elbow into her breast as he pretended to reach over her to adjust the window shade. This behavior had her worried, she could sense that he felt that he could do whatever he wanted with her and not worry about her getting upset with him. She could definitely feel the loss of control. She remembered when Marv had brought a psychologist friend of his from the Agency out to talk with them during their training. The psychologist, Dr. Mike Brock, had told them that there was a lot of information to be gathered in how people stood, gestured and the expressions on their faces - a whole world of communication beyond speech. He spend close to a week teaching them about body language and non-verbal expressions. He told them that while people learned to lie with words it was a very good actor that could control his or her involuntary body language. "Men receive more than fifty percent of their interpersonal information from non-verbal cues, with woman it's closer to seventy-five percent. That's why women like to look at the person with whom they are talking, men are much better at communicating without visual contact with the speaker. Females have evolved over millions of years refining their skills to watch the bigger, stronger members of the species (us men) for cues on how to respond to what the man needs. It's only in the last few hundred years that women have been protected from a man just laying her out cold if she was a little slow in responding to his wants - and that male behavior still exists in some cultures today. You see the modern reflection of this concept in popular magazines - woman's magazines overwhelmingly stress articles on how to "understand" what your man wants, or "how to win him over", that sort of thing. Men's magazines, on the other hand, tend to address how to do things that men enjoy doing, not the social interactions between the sexes. Also keep in mind that it has been a very short time in our evolution as a species that we have had complex language skills, for most of our development we communicated with very few words. In times of stress, when the higher level brain functions shut down and we revert to what us psychologists like to call the 'old brain', the non-verbal part of communication is close to ninety percent. So if you are in a threatening situation with someone you have to be able to read his body language - if you can you can anticipate his actions a second before he takes them." Mike went on to do a lot of role playing and demonstrations of how to tell what someone is thinking or about to do by watching for certain signs in how they held their body, or the flush on their skin, or even the size of their pupils. Amy, Julie and Jim were amazed at how accurately Mike could predict what they were thinking or about to do, even when they tried to hide it from him. Mike told them that really good actors on stage or in films had perfected the physical part of playing a part and that's what made them so believable. He explained that one reason amateurs were so easy to pick out in a movie or TV show was, even if the lines were delivered completely correct, the body language was wrong and stood out like a beacon. Some of the thing that Mike had taught them had really come in handy in dealing with targets as well as allowing them to perfect their own legends. It was clear to Amy that Mitchell had undergone some major shift in his thinking about her since they and met for breakfast this morning, and particularly since they had gotten on the plane. Well fuck him she thought, she could take him down with her hands or feet in a matter of seconds, let him try something. She amused herself for a few minutes picturing the ways she could disable him, finally settling on a spin kick to the solar plexus followed by a fast knee to the crotch. Feeling very pleased by the image of him lying on the ground clutching his balls and trying desperately to breath, she reached in her purse and got out the book she had bought at the airport - along with a new toothbrush. She was reading the new Lawrence Block mystery, 'Hit Man'. She saw Mitchell looking at her out of the corner of his eye, appearing a bit bemused at her choice of reading material. To complete her isolation she reached down and plugged in her headphones and settled back with her book to listen to the jazz music channel. Jim saw Julie sitting on a small bench next to the Singapore Airlines ticket counter. She jumped up when she saw him approaching, a worried expression on her face. "Did you find out anything about Amy? Where are we going to go, can we catch up with her? If that fucker Mitchell lays a finger on her I'll rip his dick off, I promise you." Julie started talking as Jim approached her. "Julie, calm down. Remember, you're a calm, married woman going on a small vacation trip with your rich husband. Smile and hug me, look slightly bored." Jim spoke softly and reached out his arms to her. "Sorry Dadd..umm Jim. I won't slip out of character again so loudly," Julie said softly in his ear as she hugged him.C "Just come with me to the First Class check in, I want to pick up our tickets and then call Marv. I'll fill you in as soon as we get organized here, don't worry things are fine again, and we'll take care of Amy. Come on Julie start looking like a slightly bored wife, not like you just lost your best friend." Jim reached down and picked up two of the three bags and headed for the counter. Julie gave him a faint, wifely smile and picked up the third bag and followed him to the counter. He was right she thought, she just needed to get back in character and trust that Jim and Marv knew what they were doing. But if anything bad happened to Amy she would rip the bastard's dick off! They got their tickets and boarding passes and were also given directions to the Singapore Airlines Silver Kriss First Class lounge which was through immigration. They checked their bags since they would have to go through customs anyway and being in First Class their baggage would come out first. When they were checked into the lounge Julie settled down with a glass of tomato juice and one of her "woman's magazines" that she carried around as props. She'd be glad to get on the plane and be able to unwind and get all the info from Jim. That was one of the other advantages of flying up front, the seats were spread out far enough that it would be impossible for anyone to hear what they were saying to each other. Marv was up and fully awake when Jim called the mountain-top house in California. Marie must had awakened him right after he hung up with her forty minutes ago, Marv had been busy. "I checked in with Thomas in Jakarta, and he thinks he knows the man in the Indonesian Government that Mitchell will be meeting with this evening. When I told him that we thought that Sun Lim was involved it all fit together for him. He says that this particular General has been trying to work himself up into the highest levels of the ruling group, and that bringing a letter of this sort to the leaders would get him a very high profile. He's Sun Lim's main contact within the government. Sun Lim supplies him with young girls and any other illegal goods he might want. The General makes sure that the authorities never notice what Sun Lim is really doing. Thomas figures that Sun Lim must be vouching for Mitchell with the General. Sun Lim is a very wily old man and there must be a big pay-off for him in this somewhere." "This is making more and more sense to me Marv," Jim said. "I'll bet that Mitchell has worked out some way of guaranteeing he will be paid before the letter leaves his hands. How do you want us to play it out now that we know where the letter is located? I mean we could just grab the letter, Amy, and disappear. We could also make sure that Mr. Mitchell disappears as well, I wouldn't have any qualms Marv, he is a murderer and a traitor." "I agree with you Jim, that would achieve our immediate goals. But I've been in touch with the Defence Minister in Canberra as well as the Agency and they have a different scenario that would like you to try to play out. Their concern is that if Mitchell and the letter just disappear the General might still be listened to at some levels of the government - at least a question will be raised and they could feed it to the press in Australia as an unsubstantiated rumor. What they want is to have Mitchell completely discredited with the General in a way that will keep the General from raising this letter issue to anyone because he doesn't want to look foolish. Of course they want Mitchell silenced permanently as well." Marv went on to outline the plan that he had developed with the help of the Agency. Together they fleshed out the details. Finally Jim agreed that it was workable, but he was concerned that it put Amy right back in danger. She would be bearing the brunt of the risk. Marv acknowledged that it did have some risk for her, but he said that he and Marie had discussed it before Jim had called and they both felt confident that Amy could pull it off. "OK Marv, we'll give it a try," Jim said reluctantly. "I just hope that we get enough time alone with Amy at the hotel to make sure that she is filled in and has what she needs. I'll need Thomas to provide me with a minimal disguise for when we go to the hotel, Mitchell might recognize me from the Regent or the flight down from Sydney - although I doubt it. Julie will be fine in her 'wife suit'. I'm just glad I made that stop on the way to the airport or this plan wouldn't have a chance of succeeding." Jim looked up and saw Julie standing outside the glass door to the small telephone room he was using, pointing at her watch. "I've got to go Marv, they're calling our flight. I'll check-in with you as soon as I get to Jakarta. I'm really glad we have support on the ground there, it will make it much easier. I just hope this plan works, we're so close - but we've thought that before and the bastard has slipped away. Talk with you in about seven hours - looks like you'll be up all night again my friend." "That's the trouble with having operations around the world, it's always daytime somewhere. Have a safe flight and call me as soon as you get in the car at the airport, all of Thomas' communications are secure." Jim hung up the phone and gathered up his notes and put them in his briefcase. He opened the door and gave Julie a quick hug and kiss on the cheek. "Thanks dear, let's go catch our flight." Mr. and Mrs. Williams were comfortably seated in 2A and B aboard the Boeing 747-300. The flight attendant had brought them a glass of orange juice (they both passed on the champagne) and the aircraft was moving into position for takeoff. A few minutes later they were airborne, off enroute to Jakarta, just a hour or so behind the Singapore-bound flight where Amy and Mitchell were finishing their breakfast. The plane quickly reached its initial cruising altitude and after looking subtly around her Julie reached out and put her hand on Jim's arm. "OK Jim, we're alone - or as alone as we are going to get for the next several hours, what's the plan? And tell me first how we are sure that Amy is going to be safe, off alone with that shithead." "First of all Julie, I'm sure Amy will be just fine, we'll be in Jakarta ahead of her and have our plan all set up before she arrives with the 'shithead'. Marv has a really good man on the ground there, Thomas, and he will be spending the next several hours getting things ready - so the plan is already in play, even though we are stuck here for awhile." Jim reached out and took her hand in his and gave it a reassuring squeeze. He knew how hard this was for her, Julie could take almost anything except thinking that Amy was in danger. It just made her wild if she couldn't do anything to undo the problem. "So we have work going on as we speak, that's good Jim. And I trust you and Marv to come up with something ..." "Marie was in on the planning too, and she thinks the plan will work fine and that Amy's danger is minimized by our approach," Jim interrupted. "Knowing Marie was involved in the plan makes me feel a lot better, I know she wouldn't suggest anything that would endanger Amy. Now, Jim, tell me everything and most of all tell me how I am going to help get Amy out of this and then rip the dick off that bastard Mitchell." Jim proceeded to lay out the plan in detail, explaining what part each person would be playing. He told her that he could only guess at Mitchell's reactions at each step but he felt that the plan limited the man's options to where they could predict his moves. It was like a chess game where one player kept taking the opponents pieces off the board - at a certain point the opponent's next move could be predicted very accurately. During their breakfast, which Amy was gratified to discover was better in coach on Singapore Air then some meals she had eaten on domestic flights in First Class, Mitchell tried to entertain her about all the things they would see and places they would go in London. Her earlier coolness had seemed to bring him back to a more reasonable behavior. At least he wasn't trying to grope her anymore and he was limiting his glances at her tits to times when he thought she wouldn't notice. For her part she had responded by becoming much friendlier, even to the point of looking at him with big, excited eyes and touching his arm as he described the wonders of London night life. Mitchell was glad that Amy had dropped the "cold bitch" act and was back interacting with him. He realized he had almost overplayed his hand assuming she was in the bag - even to the point of giving her a tit rub with his arm while pretending to adjust the window shade. Those tits did feel good though, god how he wanted to bite on one of her nipples and feel her try to twist out from under him; the need was almost overwhelming. But, he had to keep reminding himself he wouldn't really be able to treat her like he wanted to until her got her into Sun Lim's basement playroom. Then the bitch would find out what "night life" with him would be like. The only fine dining she would be doing would be to be sucking the cum out of his prick and any other ones that he or Sun Lim arranged. Get control of yourself you idiot, he said to himself as he felt his prick start to harden in his pants. He knew he still had to get her through the airport in Singapore without any scene and then to the hotel to meet with Sun Lim and confirm the money transfer. Then he would be off to his meeting. Deliver the letter, then back to the hotel. When got back to the room he would take her to Sun Lim's and enjoy her for the next few days before heading to Europe to start his new life. He had thought about taking her directly to Sun Lim's from the small airfield where they would be landing the charter, but time was short and he didn't trust Sun Lim not to take her cherry himself while he was dealing with the General. He knew that if the old man did fuck her first he couldn't say anything to him. Sun Lim had him by the short hairs until he left Indonesia - one word from him and Mitchell knew he would disappear permanently. His only safety was that the General wanted him around for a few days to corroborate the letter if necessary, and Sun Lim wanted his share of the money which he wouldn't get until Mitchell was safely in Europe. He definitely knew he was riding the tiger and it was too late to get off, all he could do was grab the ears and hold on. But he had worked too hard on this little bitch not to get to pop her cherry himself - fuck that old wog, he could have seconds if he was lucky. Time to set the charade in motion for getting her through Changi Airport in Singapore. "I need to call my contact in Melbourne Amy dear. I want to find out what has happened within the government." Mitchell explained as he took the phone off the seat back in front of him. He pretended to swipe his credit card through the slit on the side of the phone, then dialed his number in Canberra. Nothing would go through of course, but since Amy couldn't hear the other side of the conversation he was free to make up anything. Mitchell waited a few seconds and then pretended he was talking to someone named Simon. After about five minutes of acting for Amy's benefit he hung up the phone. Turning to Amy he began to give her the story line that he had concocted yesterday as he made his plans. The critical part was to keep her from making any scene at the airport in Singapore or really at any time before he got her though the front gate of Sun Lim's compound. He lost himself for a moment in the fantasy of how he would strip her clothes off, which garment he would remove first. He decided that he would get her restrained first, she looked too fit to take on unrestrained and he wanted to be alone with her when he stripped her so he could completely enjoy the experience of humiliating her. Snapping out of his daydreaming he turned to Amy. "Well, that was good news dearest. My contact in the government says that the Australians are ready to apologize to the government of Indonesia - just as I insisted. They want me to meet with an Indonesian government minister in Jakarta and lay the ground work for a meeting later in the week between both governments. They have made me a sort of 'unofficial minister' to negotiate a meeting. If I can pull it off they will bring me home with all forgiven and in fact a promotion." Mitchell had taken her hand and was speaking with as much sincerity as he could muster - although he was having a tough time keeping a straight face. "That's just wonderful Johnny. I knew you would be able to bring this off, what a tremendous outcome - you get what you want and single-handedly avert a terrible conflict." Amy let her eyes get big as she returned his pressure on her hand. "But honey, where are we going to meet with the government minister? Is he in London?" "Ah, well there's the rub. I have to meet him in Jakarta, and as quickly as possible. The good thing is that this flight stops over in Singapore enroute. We get off the plane there. The Indonesian government has arranged a charter flight to take us to Jakarta right away." "So we are going to stop our trip in Singapore and go to Jakarta?" Amy realized the devious cleverness of this plan. Daddy and Julie thought she was enroute to London and were expecting her to make contact with them there. She would have been in Jakarta for hours before they even landed at Heathrow. This was getting very serious she thought. It was obvious to her that Mitchell had made a deal to sell the letter to the Indonesians - the bastard. She had to stop him somehow, but she would be completely at Mitchell's mercy with no backup. Should she pitch a fit at the Singapore airport and get to a phone to let Marv know what she was doing? Maybe she could get to the ladies room and find a phone that way. She decided that she had to stay with Mitchell, as cooperative as possible as long as that letter was floating around somewhere. Well I'm in it now she thought, all the way to the finish - and by myself. I guess this is what comes of wanting adventures - somehow they weren't as thrilling when you were living them, more like terrifying. "It isn't what we planned Amy dear, but I'll make you a promise. We'll handle our business in Jakarta and then before we return to Australia I will take you to London. Maybe we can travel back going west. How would you like to go through the States on our way back. I can meet your parents." Mitchell thought that this was a bit thick, but giving her the promise of home might help keep her calm. The lying skunk, Amy thought. He must really think that I'm stupid beyond belief. I guess I need to play this through and see how it comes out. I seem to remember that Marv has someone in Jakarta, if I can just get to a phone for two minutes I can get some help. I've got to stop him from turning over that fucking letter. "Oh Johnny, that's a wonderful idea. I would love to show you off to everyone in Santa Barbara - except that Julie of course. You would just love it there, it is so pretty on the ocean," she gushed. Amy leaned over and rested her head on his shoulder - gag me she thought. Well let's see how stupid and dependent I can be for the next several hours. I'm just glad that we're on a plane and he can't grope me. How am I going to get that letter, he must have it with him in that case. What if I grabbed the case and just ran with it once we land in Singapore? No, what if it's not there, I blow the whole deal - and we're traveling on a false passports. I would have to get Marv to straighten things out and then my cover is blown. I've got no choice, I've got to play along with him until I'm sure where that damn letter is and I can get my hands on it. Mitchell and Amy landed at Changi Airport in Singapore right on schedule. After passing through immigration they went directly through customs since Mitchell had only the small carry on bag that looked more like a large briefcase and Amy, of course, had no baggage except her purse. When they walked out into the spacious, modern terminal Amy saw a short, dak looking man standing in the crowd with a small sign that read "Mr. Morris". Amy took Mitchell's arm and pointed to the man waiting for them. Mitchell raised his hand and the man quickly came toward them. He stopped in few feet in front of them and told them, in heavily accented English, that their plane was waiting at the Private Aircraft Terminal just across the airport facility from the International Terminal. Mitchell asked him if they were going to drive over and the man told him to just follow him. Amy looked around to see if there was a ladies room close to a phone anywhere but she couldn't see one. They had moved through immigration and customs so quickly that she didn't even have a chance to look for a phone. Before she could get her bearings they were outside and next to a Mercedes parked at the curb with a uniformed driver behind the wheel. The man who had met them opened the rear door and leaned in to tell the driver something in a language that Amy had never heard before. As he stepped back Mitchell helped Amy into the car, she felt the eyes of both men on her ass in her tight jeans as she leaned over to get into the car. This tight top and tight jeans were a mistake she realized, and it was so warm that she had to carry her jacket, leaving her body open for inspection. As she settled back gratefully in the air conditioned car she hoped she could get to a phone before they boarded the charter. Unfortunately when they reached the Private Aircraft Terminal the driver asked Mitchell for their passports and handed the guard at the gate a laminated pass and the two Canadian Passports. He stamped them with exit visas and handed them back, wishing them a pleasant trip. The driver drove them to the stairway of a Gulfstream V waiting on the ramp, engines already running at an idle. A steward from the plane stood at the foot of the short stairway and opened the rear door of the Mercedes. Mitchell got out and reached back to help Amy. As she got out she felt the steward give her a long, lingering look - she could feel his eyes on her ass as she ascended the five stairs into the luxurious plane. What the hell was going on she thought, every man she had run across was looking at her like she was a prize heifer or something. As Mitchell got her settled in the wide leather seat next to the small table he took the seat across from her. She could see he was all puffed up by the chauffeur driven car and the well appointed executive jet. "Well this is the only way to travel isn't my dear?" Mitchell leaned back expansively as the steward came up the stairs and secured the door behind himself. The small jet began taxiing toward the runway immediately, falling in line behind the much larger commercial jets. So much for a phone Amy thought. This was just moving too fast, she felt out of control. How the hell was she going to get hold of Marv before it was too late and Mitchell had turned over the letter? Julie and Daddy were enroute to London and no one knew she was going to Jakarta. Shit, now Mitchell was back staring at her tits again, along with the steward. She was surprised that the pilots didn't come back for a quick look, this was getting worse and worse. Jim and Julie landed at Soekarno-Hatta Airport a few minutes early. After processing through immigration they collected their bags, put them on a trolley cart and moved through the Green Line (nothing to declare) at Customs. When they exited the International Flights Arrival Lounge the saw a, tall, thin Chinese man in his mid-thirties dressed in a chauffeur's uniform standing on the other side of the rope. He was holding a small sign that read "Mr. Williams". Jim and Julie headed towards him. He must have recognized them from the pictures that Marv had e-mailed to him because he quickly came up to them and introduced himself as their driver from Executive Transportation. Jim started to reach out to shake his hand but with a small shake of his head Thomas indicated that they should stay in a chauffeur-client role while they were in public. Thomas took charge of their baggage trolley and pushed it towards the doors leading outside. As they exited the airport Julie immediately felt the heat and humidity that came from being just a few miles from the Equator. She was also immersed for the first time in the unique smells of this part of the world - curry, cooking oil, charcoal fires and flowers - all mixed with the exhaust of too many cars. All of these smells blended together in the noisy, exotic perfume that is instantly recognized by anyone who had ever visited the Far East. Thomas led them to a long wheel-base black Mercedes 600 parked in a No Parking Zone at the curb. A small gold crest on the door identified the limo as one of the fleet owned by the Executive Transportation Company which was a company run by Thomas for Marv. It actually made a very decent profit every year. Jim doubted that Thomas dressed up in a chauffeur uniform and drove a limo himself very often. His thoughts were confirmed soon after Thomas got into the driver's seat after stowing their luggage in the trunk (boot). The two weary travelers settled gratefully back in the buttery soft seats of the limo. Jim reached forward and opened a small wooden door on the console in front of them. Expecting to see a wet bar or a television set he was surprised to see a full computer setup as well as a cell phone handset cradle. Quite a rig he thought. I'll bet not too many clients got to ride in this car. "Welcome to Jakarta Mr. Martin and Ms. Ault. I'm Thomas Rashad and I am very pleased to meet you in person, Marv speaks quite highly of you. I want to apologize for not shaking hands with you back in the terminal when we first met. People know our limo service over here and most of our clients are not interested in shaking the hand of their driver - it would be very out of character for me to shake hands with you while I was posing as your driver." As he said this he turned in his seat and reached his arm towards them in the back. Jim and Julie both leaned forward and took his hand in a firm shake. "It will take us about twenty-five minutes to get to the hotel and get things started," Thomas said, pulling out onto the exit road from the airport. "The latest word I have from our people at the Aviation Authority is that the charter that Mitchell and Ms. Martin are on is due to land in about thirty minutes. They should be at the hotel about thirty minutes after that. This is actually my personal car and I see you have already located the communications system. Just put your Model 3 communicator in the cradle and press the star key twice and you will be connected via secure satellite link to Marv." "The timing between us and Mitchell sounds great Thomas, and please, call us Jim and Julie - and Amy when you get to meet her. Now fill us in. How did things go at the Hyatt?" Jim pulled his brief case up on his lap as he was speaking and was fishing out his "cell phone". Thomas gave them a very succinct briefing of the current state of things at the Hyatt and the plans for the meeting. He told them that he had checked with some people he knew on the staff and a DHL courier envelope was indeed waiting for Mr. Morris' arrival. Also the reservations for both suites - theirs and Mitchell's were confirmed. The Atrium Fountain Lounge in the Hyatt is quite popular this time of evening he informed them, finding a table was often a problem. One had been reserved by a Mr. Lim however, and he assumed that was where he would be meeting with Mitchell and probably Amy. Thomas had reserved a table on the other side of the room, but in a direct line with the ladies room for Jim and Julie. So when Mitchell and Amy arrived Julie would be easy to see from where Amy was sitting, and no one would notice her going into the ladies room after Amy. He told Jim that there was a black wig and glasses in the small bag on the jump seat - he assumed that it would be enough disguise so that Mitchell wouldn't think that Jim somehow looked familiar and get jumpy. Jim agreed, Marv's instructor in tradecraft had told them that hair color and eyes were features most people remembered about people they saw, change either of them - or both - significantly and it was almost always enough to fool people. "It sounds like you have things in hand Thomas, we're really grateful for making this move so smoothly thus far. We could never have accomplished so much so quickly without your help." Jim leaned forward and inserted his cell phone into the holder in front of him. "I'm glad I could help Jim, I like to think we're all part of the same family, I'm really pleased to finally meet both of you and I look forward to meeting Amy as well. Both Marv and Marie have been uncharacteristically worried over this operation, I think you three must mean a lot to them." "They both mean a lot to us as well Thomas." Jim reached out and pressed the 'star key' on his communicator twice. The hollow echo of a sat-link establishing itself filled the car from sound system speakers. There was no ringing, just Marv's voice suddenly filling the car. "Jim, I'm really glad to hear from you. Where are you?" "Marv, good to hear your voice too. Julie and I are in Thomas' car heading for the Hyatt. Thomas has done a great job at getting things set up, now all we have to do is meet up with Amy and get her briefed on the plan. The letter has arrived as we suspected it would and now it is just a matter of time until we get it. Don't worry, Mitchell and the letter won't get away this time." "I have been in touch with the Aussies Jim, and they are really hot for us to discredit Mitchell as well as to destroy the letter. They're afraid if Mitchell is left alive, or just disappears, and if Sun Lim has seen the letter, the two of them, working with the General, can cause a lot of grief - even without the physical letter. They really want us to complete the plan as briefed, just getting the letter - even with icing Mitchell will not satisfy them. They really want this put to bed completely, for once and for all." "I hope you reminded them that it was their stupidity that started all of this bullshit. We'll do what we can, but getting the letter and getting Mitchell out of the way with all of us intact is my first priority. If we can do it the way we've planned that's great, but these things have a way of quickly coming unraveled - as you know." "I know Jim, and that's the same thing I told the Aussies. You guys get the letter and get out with your hides intact. You can ask Thomas, but believe me, Jakarta is a bad place to be if you have pissed off that particular General, not to mention Sun Lim. Both of them are nasty bastards and have no reluctance at all to make people disappear - painfully. I know you can do it Jim - and you too Julie. With Thomas helping you I can't think of a more resourceful team to have in place. I just wish I was there to help." "That goes for me as well," Marie added. "Both of you help best right where you are, in control of the computer system so you can influence the action for us. Now, do we know where the meeting between Mitchell and the General will be taking place?" Thomas came into the conversation at this point and told the group that he had found out where the meeting was to be by tracking the General's appointments for the day. "It looks like Mitchell will just have time to meet with Sun Lim for a few minutes and get to his meeting. I assume that the General will want to have Mitchell stick around for a few days just in case he has to produce him to verify the letter. It is most probable that he will stay in the Hyatt, as opposed to going to Sun Lim's compound so as not to arouse suspicion with the General by being too close to Sun Lim. Sun Lim is trying to appear neutral in this deal if my sources are correct and he is being used by the General to verify the letter before any payment is made. I'm pretty sure he won't go to the airfield when they pick Mitchell and Amy up, he is probably under tight surveillance until the General sees the letter. No one really trusts Sun Lim too far, but he would be a fool to betray the General, and Sun Lim is no fool." Marv told them that it looked like they had everything well in hand, they should just go to their hotel and get checked in and then take up their positions in the bar. Thomas would position himself on the other side of the lobby where he could see them as well as listen - along with Jim and Julie - to the conversation between Mitchell and Sun Lim through Amy's medallion. Marie voice came on the speakers. "The problem with that is that we lose the conversation when Amy gets up to go the ladies room, and what they say with Amy gone may be critical for figuring out where Mitchell plans to go to ground if our plan doesn't work." "I took care of that Marie," Thomas answered. "Because they reserved a table I was able to put one of our least detectable audio bugs on the underneath surface. It is programmed into channel three on the receivers. We will be able to listen to the conversation through either microphone, even when Amy gets up and leaves the table. I also have my communicator dialed into the relay transmitter here in the car so that you and Marv will be able to hear the conversation back in California as well." Marv came on the line and complemented Thomas on what a good move that was and how glad they were that they could hear what was happening in real-time for a change. Jim and Julie agreed, it gave them a feeling of comfort to know that Marv, with his considerable resources, was on-line and listening. "Well it is not exactly real-time Marv, there is the five hundred millisecond satellite delay for the up-link and the same for the down-link, so there is a one second delay in the reception," Thomas responded seriously. "Thomas, sometimes you are too damn precise, I'm just glad to be able to feel like I'm participating even with the delay." Marv's remark caused Jim and Julie to break into laughter, even Thomas cracked a slight smile. Amy walked down the short stairs to the hardstand of the ramp where the Gulfstream had taxied after landing at the small airport east of the city. She had to admit an executive jet was a great way to travel, too bad she was with such an asshole. To compound the problem she had been watching so long for a rest room with a nearby phone that she had passed up all her chances to pee, and now she really did have to go. What's wrong with this picture she thought to herself, stuck in a car with a set of slimeballs (the steward was obviously coming with them into town since he got immediately in the limo and sat himself in the jump seat facing Amy) and having to really pee. Also she had been in these clothes since early morning and this goddamn underwire bra had ridden up an inch or so on the bottom and was pinching her left tit and driving her crazy - but there was no way in hell she was going to reach up and resettle it in front of these two. With the way they had been looking at her for the last forty-five minutes if she touched her tit to fix her bra they'd probably pull out their pricks and start jacking-off. Julie and Jim were shown to their suite by one of the concierge staff. After he left they took their suitcases off the stands and put them right by the door for a quick exit. Julie did insist on getting out her travel kit and brushing her teeth, also she took the time to take off the padded undergarment and pee - complaining the whole time about "who the fuck designed this worthless piece of shit anyway" in a voice loud enough that Jim could hear it outside in the living room of the suite. Jim silently vowed to get that damn thing redesigned as soon as they could so the girls would shut-up about it. He heard the same complaints every time they had to pee when either of them were wearing the "wife" disguise. He was glad that topic didn't come up in the car, Thomas probably would have melted into the seat in embarrassment. They were comfortably seated at their table in the impressive Atrium Fountain Lounge enjoying a cold tonic and lime when Mitchell and Amy came in the door, accompanied by a fairly large man who must have been working for Sun Lim. They spoke to a waiter and were led to a table with a reserved sign on it on the other side of the lounge. A few minutes a frail looking Chinese man with a very large Chinese man with him joined Mitchell and Amy at the table. The man that had come in with Mitchell and Amy left the group at that point to stand near the top of the long stairway leading to the lobby, surveying the lounge. The older man took a seat, the large man stood behind his chair, also looking around the room with the sharp eyes of a hunter. Jim and Julie tried not to look at the group across the lounge. Thomas could see them clearly from his position and he was giving them a rundown while pretending to converse with someone on his cell phone. "Pretty good security, Sun Lim has a man at the door and one standing directly behind him. No one could attack him from behind with the bodyguard standing there, and both guards can see each other so that they can signal any problem. Let's all go to channel three so that we can hear the conversation. I'll let you know on the override channel if Amy gets up." The three of them adjusted their receivers (Jim and Julie had theirs out of sight and were wearing the wireless earphones so were not able to talk, merely listen. The conversation at the table came through loud and clear. Chapter 2 California - The Past (June 1997) "You look really worried 'cher' (dear), has something happened with your friend Jim and his daughter?" Marie reached out and gently stroked her Pappa's forehead, he was still up reading - that was very unusual, he was normally asleep within five minutes of going to bed. The two of them had just gone to bed over an hour ago, they had both been up the entire night and day with a problem in Greece. They had been talking with their man down there via satellite link almost non-stop, trying to avert a problem that the CIA had gotten themselves into - again. Things had finally calmed down after a tense twenty-four hours, and it looked like events would sort themselves safely. Marv was exhausted, but he couldn't sleep, he was worried about Jim and Amy even though they were safely on their boat halfway to Catalina with Larry and Diane and Julie. While they were down at Jim's beach house in La Jolla he was watching Jim's wife Jane up in Berkeley - something strange was going on up there, but even with monitoring the bugs in Jim's house he couldn't figure what had Jane in such a mobilized state. He had better read the transcripts from last night as soon as they were available - or better yet, he might just listen the raw recordings and not wait for the transcripts. Marv turned to his eighteen year-old daughter to answer her, his look softened immediately as he saw how beautiful she looked sitting up in bed next to him, the sheet down around her waist, her beautiful heavy breasts looking so soft and inviting, her thick black hair curling around her shoulders. God, she was the most beautiful woman he had ever seen he thought for the ten thousandth time. He pulled himself, reluctantly, back to reality. "I am worried dearest, something is starting to go very wrong. Jane has connected with some people that I know are absolutely ruthless, anything and everything for a price - and they're technically competent, not just muscle. I can't figure out why she wants them unless she plans some violence towards Jim and Amy - but what I can't figure out is why. She is no better off with Jim out of the picture. Amy hates her and would never go back to her - Larry and Diane aren't fond of her either. Plus the company isn't worth nearly as much with Jim gone - he's the driving force." Marv said, reaching out to stroke her hair. It was just impossible for him to look at her without touching her, particularly when she was naked in bed with him as she was at this moment. " 'C'set vrai' (It's true), but remember 'cher' (dear) we woman seldom do things for just one reason, usually it is more complicated than that. Remember, she suspects that Jim and Amy are lovers as well as being Father and Daughter and Jim was able to get Amy away from her. I'm sure that still makes her 'fou' (crazy), she probably pictures them together in her mind, making love, and the visions of that makes her hate them both. Listening to the tapes of them talking and being together - even with Jim and Amy editing them by turning them off at important times must just be galling. I don't think she's stupid, and I can certainly hear the love in their voices - regardless of what they are and aren't saying, and I haven't even met them in person," she said, looking at him with concern. She could see the worry and pain on her Pappa's face, he must care deeply for Jim and Amy, she had never seen him so involved with a 'case'. She reached out for him, pulling him towards her, cradling his head down between her soft, full breasts. The fresh smell of her skin, and the warm fullness of her breasts against his face drove all thoughts of Jim and Amy from his mind. Marv moved his head to take one of her hardening nipples between his lips, running his tongue over the wrinkly flesh. He heard her moan softly and he could hear her heart start to beat faster where his ear was pressed tightly in the valley between her large tits. Marv's prick started to uncoil and harden, aided by Marie moving her hand down across his stomach to softly run her fingernails over his balls. " 'Viens ici' (Come here) to me Pappa and let me relax you," Marie said in a soft, breathless voice. She used her legs to kick the sheet off of both of them and pulled her legs up, letting her thighs fall open to offer herself to the man she loved so deeply. Marv looked down between her lovely thighs and saw her beautiful pussy spread out before him. The lips were slightly spread, her clit already poking out from the top of her small soft lips. A faint coating of her juices glistened on her as she ran her hands up her thighs to the sides of her pussy and pulled it open for him. He never failed to marvel at how absolutely beautiful she was and how completely she aroused him in just seconds. A full mat of curly black hair surrounded her pussy, he loved the way it felt when he push up on her when he was deep inside, his pubic bone rubbing of the soft mat. He mounted her immediately and his prick popped inside of her as though it had eyes of its own and in an instant he was buried to the hilt up her eighteen year old cunt. He fell forward on her, pushing her tits flat under his chest as he brought his mouth down on hers, their tongues dueling as he felt the full softness of her lips. Marie pulled her legs up to lock them around his waist and her hands grasped his ass cheeks at the base and pulled him hard inside of her on his downstroke. Marv felt like he just couldn't get enough of himself into her, he just wanted to totally possess her, to fill her completely - heart, body and soul. The best part was that he knew he did, she had never loved another, it was he that filled her world, and always had been. It was he that brought her the sexual delights that she wanted and needed. He could feel her start to tighten up on him as her orgasm approached, he moved slightly up on her to better stimulate her clit under his pubic bone. Her fingers clutched his ass even tighter as she squeezed with her legs and began coming. "Ohhhh Pappa give me your hard prick, shove it deep....harder, harder...ohhhcherie........ohhhyesyes, my love my love take me, take your 'tite fille' (little girl) "je t'aime' (I love you) ........ohhhh Pappa," Marie spoke into his mouth as she began cumming, English and Cajun mixing together. Marv felt his balls began to tighten and the head of his prick swell deep in her tight little pussy tunnel. He shoved extra hard as he began spurting his cum deep inside of his beautiful daughter. He felt her tighten her cunt muscles in a ripple from bottom to top, almost as if she were milking his cock as he shot inside her. "AhhhMarie, my sweet little daughter, I love you, I love you. Take my prick, take Pappa's prick so deep-let me fill you with my cum..ahhhhhhhthat's so good, oh baby, baby squeeze me...ahhhhhhhMarie that feels so great......Ahhhhh." Marv felt for a second like he was going to pass out the feelings were so intense. When he had finished Marie slid her legs down from his waist and under his legs, bring hers closed to hold his softening prick deep inside of warm, wet tunnel for as long as possible while she kissed all over his face, telling him how wonderful he was and how much she enjoyed making love with him. They lay together in their bed snuggling and getting their breath back, Marv gently running his hands over Marie's back and tight young ass. After a few minutes they both got up and headed for the bathroom to get cleaned up. They had just gotten out of the shower and had decided to go up to roof-top hot tub for a few minutes and have a glass of wine. Suddenly the special phone rang, the one with the eight digit number (instead of the normal seven) that Marv had given to only a few people. As he ran for the phone by his bed he looked at the time on the clock radio, nine-forty five PM - morning in Greece; now what had hit the fan he thought. When he picked it up he was amazed to hear Jim Martin's voice on the other end, calling on his cell phone from Silver Cloud - half-way to Catalina. "Marv? It's Jim Martin. Amy and I are on Silver Cloud with Larry, Diane and Julie. We're about four hours out of Avalon over in Catalina. I've been talking with the girls and I think we may have more of a problem than we thought." Marv put his hand over the receiver and turning to Marie told her to go over to the operations room and get a fix (physical location) on the call. "What's going on Jim, most of the transcripts seem pretty bland, but I have noticed some increased activity from Jane. She's hired some folks that I don't like the looks of very much. I've got another agent enroute to the area to double the surveillance on her. Is she up to something in La Jolla?" "We definitely have a man watching us around the clock. A heavy-set guy, mid-forties, receding hair line, usually in a suit. The girls have seen him several times, both near the boat and later in Michael's restaurant at the Hyatt in La Jolla when we were having dinner. He stays in the background, but he seems to be writing down our movements. Also today there was a strange happening at the slip where we keep Silver Cloud. The man that takes care of the place was gone when we arrived to board the boat. He came in before we left and he had been up the coast five miles or so to pick up his dog that had been turned in at a humane shelter by someone that found him wandering on the freeway. Marv, the dog is almost twelve and not known to wander off, I just wonder if it was a ruse to get the guy away from the boat before we left?' "Sounds like it to me Jim, you had best assume the boat is bugged. It is strange though, unless they put a tape system on it or are close to you in another boat it is hard to pickup a bug from the shore when a boat gets ten to fifteen miles out to sea. You have to use a big transmitter. Where are you physically located on the boat? Your side of the conversation may be monitored." "I don't think so Marv, Amy, Julie and I are way forward, sitting on the bow of Silver Cloud, it would be pretty hard for anyone to pickup us talking. I guess they could pickup the cell phone on a scanner." "Not that cell phone, I modified it with a scrambler. It is more secure than most military communications. Have you had any contact with anyone that might be talking directly to Jane?" "If I did it was an accident, I just can't think of ...." Jim was interrupted by Julie. "Uncle Jim I smell something like burning sparklers coming from the aft part of the boat." Julie said, placing her hand on his arm and interrupting him. Marv heard Julie's statement in the background through the cell phone then a loud noise, then nothing - the signal was gone. Shit, he thought. "Marie! Pinpoint that location ASAP and then get into your flight suit. Crank the Jet Ranger and get it up on the pad and I'll meet you there." Marv jumped up and ran for the closet to get his flight suit as well, throwing off his robe as he ran. "Pappa, what has happened?" "I don't know yet dearest. I just heard Amy or Julie say something about a strong burning smell, like sparklers, a loud boom and then nothing. That sparkler smell sounds like a powered aluminum fuse to me - and that means a explosive of some kind. I want to call Bob in Berkeley and get him watching Jane like a hawk while we go to see if we can help Jim and Larry and the women if they are in trouble." Marv was moving quickly into the operations room as Marie zipped up her black nomex (a flame proof material) flight suit. "Did you get a fix on their LKP (last known position)?" "Yes Pappa, I have the lat - long (latitude and longitude) and I'll put into the GPS as soon as I get the aircraft cranked up. Meet me upstairs on the pad." Marie headed towards the far end of the hall and the door into the hanger area, shouting back over her shoulder at Marv as he dashed into the operations room. "Be sure you pin the rear doors open and that the rope ladder is attached to the rings behind my seat." Marv shouted back to her as he headed toward the telephone on the operations console. Marv had contacted his agent in the Bay Area and told him to get some help and keep Jane and the people she had hired under close surveillance. He also contacted another Class A agent in Denver and had him head to San Francisco immediately to help Bob. He then called his agent in San Diego and told him to stake out the beach house immediately and to let Bob know if anyone showed up. Then he headed for the elevator the deck landing pad. When he reached the aircraft Marie had it already up and running and the coordinates of Jim's LKP entered in the navigation system. Less than two minutes from Marv arriving at the helicopter Marie had them out over the beach, heading at 120 knots toward the open sea and the last known position of the Silver Cloud. Marv watched the small screen on the panel in front of him, it was the output from the FLIR (Forward Looking infrared) pod hung off the side of the aircraft. He was looking at the water for some signs of heat - the heat that would be put off by a human body in the water. Marie was wearing the latest version of Army NVGs (night vision goggles), these goggles intensified the available light. Even starlight would be enough for the scene below her to look like daylight - although it would be green in color. The instrument lights and FLIR screen in the cockpit were special NVG compatible lighting so that they didn't interfere with the goggles. Marie was looking for any wreckage or people floating in the water. Here at sea conditions were perfect for NVGs since there was no background light to "bloom" the image. Off in the distance, almost on the horizon she spotted the flashing of a strobe light in the sensitive goggles, and she quickly turned in that direction. It was only a minute or so after her turn that Marie saw the first wreckage from Silver Cloud ahead of them and off to their left. She saw pieces of wood and other wreckage floating over a wide area, the area widening by the action of the waves. She told Marv and he immediately directed the FLIR in that direction. Still no heat signatures, the wreckage was a uniform temperature with the ocean. That convinced him even more that this had been an explosion, and a violent one, one that would blow out any flames that might have started. He knew that the only "natural" sources of explosion on a boat - the engine fuel or a propane tank - would have had some fire associated with them, and some of wood would still be smoldering or charred and show a different temperature from the ocean. Finally he picked up a heat source in the direction of the strobe, some distance from the main concentration of wreckage, near what looked like a large section of mainsail and mast. He zoomed the FLIR lens onto the image and he could see three shapes sitting in what looked like an inflatable raft. He told Marie and she started slowing up as she approached the light. The NVG resolution was better than the FLIR and she told him that it looked like one man and two smaller people, probably Amy and Julie. The figures in the boat turned on a spot light and it bloomed her goggles immediately. She reached up with her left hand and took them off, she wouldn't need them now that she had seen where they were and as long as they kept the light on they could fly right to it. Marv came on the intercom and told her that he hadn't pick-up any human heat sources other than the three in front of them in the rubber boat. He told her he would take the controls and come to a hover over the raft. As they flew over the raft they could see Jim Martin and Amy and her friend Julie looking up at them, their faces white and strained looking. Marv made a circle and came to a hover about ten feet over the water off to one side of the raft. Marv knew the tricky part would be to get close without blowing them over in the rotor- wash. As he moved sideways toward the rubber raft the saw Jim go to the stern and send Julie to the front, leaving Amy in the middle. Good work he said to himself, Jim had spread them out to keep the raft stable, and he would be able to drop the ladder to Amy in the center. He came to a hover over the raft and told Marie to take the controls as he reached behind his seat to throw out the rope ladder to Amy. She grabbed it and in less than ten seconds she was in the aircraft - strong as well as smart Marv thought. As soon as Amy was in the aircraft she spun around and lay flat on the floor of the passenger compartment, her head and arms extended over the edge of the doorway. Julie was next up the ladder and as her head cleared the edge of the doorway Amy reached down and grasped her under the arms helping her climb aboard. The two girls both lay on the floor and helped Jim get climb into the helicopter. Jim motioned for the girls to take seats on the bench seat that ran along the back of the passenger compartment while he climbed into the jump seat to the rear and between the two pilot seats. He looked forward to the red lighted instrument panel and reached out and squeezed hard on Marv's shoulder. Marv turned towards Jim and gestured to the headset hanging from the bracket above him. Jim got the headset and put it on, adjusting the mike in front of his mouth and locating the push-to-talk switch on the cord. "How in the world did you get here so quick Marv? And where did this helicopter come from anyway?" Jim was still slightly out of breath from his climb into the aircraft. "I'll get into to that later, where are Larry and Diane? Have you seen any sign of them since the explosion?" "We've been looking Marv, but they were aft on the rear deck right above where we think the explosion was, I don't hold out much hope for them. We have been searching for the past thirty minutes with no luck." "I've searched the area with the FLIR and night vision goggles but we haven't picked up anyone in the water except the three of you. I'll make one more pass just to be sure but I'm afraid you're right, I think they are gone." Jim turned in his seat and motioned for Amy and Julie to put on headsets. When they had them on he showed them how to adjust the mike booms and told them where to find the switch to use to talk. Julie came on the intercom immediately, looking intensely at Jim. "Has the pilot seen Mom and Dad? Do we know where they are? Can we pick them up?" "Marv is making another flight over the area but it is pretty unlikely that he will be able to find them honey, he has already looked pretty well before he picked us up, even with his special night vision systems. No sign of them, I think we have to accept the worst" Jim said softly. Julie broke down and leaned over sobbing. Amy made eye contact with Jim and he just gently shook his head to indicate that there wasn't any hope. Her eyes filled up with tears and she took off her headset and Julie's and pulled Julie's head into her shoulder and put her arms around her. Jim could see both of their bodies shaking with their sobs. His sadness disappeared in an instant, replaced with a cold anger that startled him, he had never felt an emotion so intense. He vowed he would find who did this and he would take them out, Jim swore it on his soul, whoever they were, where ever they were, they were dead - period. Marv put the intercom on Private so that he could talk with Marie without anyone else hearing the conversation. He told her to take the controls and head back to the pad. "Jim and the girls are in for a rough time cherie, Diane was like a mother to both girls, and she and Larry were Jim's best friends. When we get back take them to the residence level and get them dried off and into some warm sweats, then take them up to the study and I meet you there with Jim. I need to find out what is the latest information of Jane and her movements." "I feel so bad for them Pappa," Marie said glancing over her shoulder at the girls sitting on the bench seat behind her, Amy cradling the sobbing Julie in her arms. "We must find the 'fils de putain' (son of a bitch) that did this terrible thing. Somehow we must track them down, the thing they start here 'c'set ein affaire a pus finir' (it is a thing with no end) until we even the score." " 'C'set vrai' (it is true), we will find them and even the score. You're often like your Mamma cherie, I see her strength in you - we will right the wrong done to 'mon amis' (my friends) Larry and Diane. And somehow we have to help Jim and the girls put their lives back together." Marie brought the Jet Ranger back to the pad on the mountain-top house and helped the girls out of the aircraft. She led them into the house and down the concealed stairway to the residence level. She took them into one of the larger bedrooms and showed them the bathroom and shower. She told them that there were sweat suits in the dresser in various sizes. After she had them settled she went into her own room and changed out of her flight suit and into her own sweats. As she came back into the bedroom Amy and Julie had both changed and Amy was putting her still damp hair up in a bun at the back of her head and Julie was finishing toweling off her almost dry short blonde hair. Marie walked over and gathered both girls into her arms and hugged them tightly. "Come over to the bed and sit down," she said, moving away from them and towards the large bed. "I want to share my experience from when I lost my Mamma with you - not to diminish what you are going through, but just to let you know when I say I know what you are feeling it is not empty words." Marie sat on the bed with the two girls, holding hands with them as she related the tragic story of that day when she and her mother were kidnapped, raped and her mother murdered by the gangster Ricard. As she told the story the girls grew still, their eyes widening as they listen in horror to what Marie and Chantel had gone through that horrible day. How Marv and his friend managed to track them down and rescue Marie. She then told them how they came to California and how she had entered into a sexual relationship with her Pappa many years ago. When she had finished the three of them hugged again. Amy broke the hug and looked at Marie with amazement. "It's hard for me to believe that anyone could go through what you did and still have the nerve to do what you had to do with your Daddy. I mean it was hard for me when I ... I guess you know what sort of relationship Daddy, Julie and I have from what you said about you and your Daddy." Marie nodded. "Anyway Marie," Julie interrupted, "I'm amazed at how strong you had to be and I understand why you told us the story. It does help - I feel like I have two sisters now." The three hugged again until Marie suggested that they better get upstairs and see what their Fathers were doing. She led them to the elevator and up to the living area on the top floor and into the softly lit study off the living room. She got them seated on the couch and went over to a cabinet at the side of the room and took out a brandy decanter and five glasses, placing them on the table in front of the couch. She walked around to stand behind them, a hand on each of their shoulders, just as Marv and Jim came into the room. The lighting in the study was soft, Amy and Julie were holding hands, their eyes were red but they had stopped crying. When they saw Jim they both got up and ran to him and into his arms, hugging him and starting to cry all over again. He just held them, tears forming in his eyes as well. Marv went over to the table and poured five glasses of the brandy. Marie took two and walked over to where Jim was holding the girls. "Amy and Julie, please take these glasses, my Pappa wants to say something." At the same time Marv brought me a glass and handed one to Marie as well. Walking back to the table he picked up the last glass and turned to face us. "Dear friends, I knew Larry Ault and Diane Black and their daughter Julie for many years, since Larry, Diane and I were at Berkeley together. I liked them and thought they were gifted and special people. They were loved by Jim and Amy Martin, people that I have loved dearly for twenty years. They did not deserve what happened to them, but happened it did and they are gone. In my old agency we had a toast for all the terrible losses like this one - and there were more than most people know - and I would like to toast Larry and Diane. 'To absent friends and fallen comrades, we will hold you in our hearts and in our thoughts and we will not forget, nor will we rest until the scale is balanced, this we swear'." With that he raised his glass and we did the same, everyone drinking down the brandy. Jim could feel it warming his throat and down into his stomach. Somehow it seemed to warm away some of the pain, to acknowledge the loss, it made it easier for the three of them. They set our glasses down on the table and Jim and the girls sat on the couch. Marie took a seat in the large chair next to the table curling her legs under her and Marv went over to the table by the door to pickup the papers he had brought up from downstairs. "OK, this is what we know right now. First of all I need to tell you that Marie and I have been monitoring the audio bugs in the beach house along with the people that put them there. I've done this so that I could be sure I knew what the opposition was hearing. I apologize to you Jim and you too girls, but it was necessary. Unfortunately there has been about a twenty-four hour time period from when something is recorded and I see the transcripts. I just never thought that this would escalate this quickly or I would have listened to the raw recordings before they went into the computer to be turned into text. Looking at the transcripts from night before last I can see what probably drove Jane over the edge. There is a long conversation between Larry and Diane in their bedroom about how happy Jim seems now that he is separated from Jane. Diane makes some very unflattering comments about Jane and then they discuss what might be done to get Jane out of the company before it goes public. At one point Larry suggests that they contact me to see if I can find out if there are any skeletons in Jane's closet that might be used to force her out. I think that potential threat drove her over the edge, she must be hiding something pretty strong. I have had my agents looking deeply into her activity since I saw this early this morning - I just never imagined that she would go to this length." "First of all," Jim said, "there is a scandal in her life Marv, Amy and I uncovered it and used it to get Amy away from her. As far as timing, it must have been pretty tempting for her Marv, with Larry and I gone and Diane and the girls too, she would own the whole company. It's the first time that the five of us have been in a place where she could do something like this and make it look like an accident. Do your people have confirmation that she was behind this, or even that it really was a bomb?" "Based on what I saw of the wreckage and what you told me about Julie smelling something like a sparkler I have very little doubt that it was a planted explosive. Most probably Semex with a time fuse containing powered aluminum - which is what Julie smelled as the timer set the fuse off. The fact that nothing in the wreckage was charred, nothing caught fire, indicates an explosion caused by Semex or C-4, one of the plastic explosives. They produce such a strong shock wave that they literally blow out any fire before it has a chance to start. I think we can safely assume that it was a bomb, someone in Jane's employee was responsible for planting it on the boat yesterday afternoon between three and five o'clock and go from there." Just then the a portable phone sitting next to Marv on the table rang. Marv picked it up and listened for a few minutes and then set it down on the table again. "That was one of my agents, he managed to put a bug in Jane's car about an hour ago right after I contacted him. He has a tape of Jane talking with two men named Phil and Ian and he just data burst it to me. I don't know who Phil is but from the tone of the conversation Ian is probably one of the people that she hired to watch you." "We know who Phil is Marv, Amy found Jane's diary and in it she talks about being a member of a bondage and torture sex club with a junior partner from her firm named Phil Waddington. The two of them have been carrying on for four years. That's the relationship we uncovered that we threatened to expose if she didn't let Amy move to La Jolla with me. Originally she had something on me that she was using to keep me away from Amy, I don't want to go into it now, (Julie, Amy and Marie exchanged glances, Jim was the only one in the room that didn't know that everyone knew about the relationship) but with what we had we were both in a sort of Mexican standoff. Since she didn't have anything on Larry and Diane I guess she was terrified that they would uncover the same stuff that I did, particularly since she knows your talents." "You don't owe me any explanations Jim, I know how much I love Marie and if anyone every tried to separate us I hate to think of the consequences. I'm going to go up stairs and bring the tape transmission back down here so we can hear what was recorded in Jane's car just a few minutes ago." With that he left the room. Amy and Julie and Jim just sat on the couch, still stunned by the realization of what had really happened, it was starting to sink in - Jane had tried to kill all of them, and she had succeeded in killing Larry and Diane. Jim's anger started to build all over again, and he could feel the girls starting to react the same way, their body language changed subtly. The sat straighter, and their eyes got cold and their mouths set in a hard line. Jim knew that Jane had to be made to pay for this act. That was for sure. Marie seemed to pick up on his change of mood. "Jim, I don't know you very well. My Pappa speaks a lot you and in very glowing terms. For this to have happened to your parents Julie is unforgivable. But rest assured you are with the one man in the world that can make anything happen and happen quickly. He has his two best agents in the United States in the Bay Area right now, I have never known him to use two agents like these together on anything - and believe me we've had some assignments that are pretty unbelievable." Marv walked back into the room with a small digital tape recorder which he set on the table in front of us next to the brandy decanter. He reached over and turned it on. "This was taped from her car and data burst to me just minutes ago and stored on this digital play back disk. You will hear three voices, the first is Jane, then Phil answers her then Ian describes what his man in La Jolla observed. It leaves no doubt about what was done and why." With that we heard Jane's voice start to come out of the small speaker in front of us, with the clarity of the digital playback it sounded like she was in the room with them. "So, its ten fifteen, by now according to Ian's man, the five of them are rapidly on their way to becoming fish shit. I probably won't get officially notified until later tonight or tomorrow, it depends on how quickly someone finds the wreckage, or better yet a body. I'll have to play the grieving widow Phil, so you will have to handle all the probate problems. As soon as possible we need to petition the court of have them declared dead, it would be too much to hope that all the bodies would wash up somewhere." "That's not a problem Jane, in about a week we will file with the district court to petition the certificates prior to probate, that will speed up the probate process by several weeks. The important thing is to find a buyer for the company right away - as soon as you have control, since liquidating the assets will keep any spurious claims from being filed. You will no longer own the assets and the new owner is exempt from any claims by right of purchase. Ian are you absolutely sure that the bomb went off on schedule and that your guy put enough explosive on the boat?" "Listen Phil, for the one million bucks you promised us we would have put the goddamn thing in orbit if you wanted. Anyway, Jeff followed them in another boat about fifteen miles away, he said the Semex went off at exactly ten o'clock and that it was so fucking powerful that he could feel the shock wave from where he was, there is no way any sonvabitch could have survived that explosion - I guarantee it." "You had better be right Ian, that last thing I need is for my fucking ex-husband and that little slut daughter of his to walk into court while we are probating his assets." "Speaking of assets Jane, I'm sort of sorry I didn't get a shot at little Amy before she became several thousands parts, she really had a nice ass and set of tits, I would have loved to see how they looked after thirty minutes using a hot iron on them." "Never mind about her tits Phil, you just concentrate on getting us control of that company and I'll buy you all the teenage tits you want, and help you string the bitches up by them." "Hey, you guys that sounds like a party, are Jeff and I invited?" "Just get Jeff's ass up here Ian I don't want him near that dock or anywhere in La Jolla where he might be recognized. If Jim's friend Marv should get wind of this we'll all be hanging by our fucking tits. OK, Phil you go home and start writing the petition brief, I'll head home to sit by the phone. Ian you call Jeff and have him meet you at your motel in San Mateo. No one call anyone until I have been officially notified, no more meetings, no more contact." There was the sound of car doors opening and then the car engine starting and the car driving. We all just sit there stunned. We knew what had happened but the cold tone in Jane's voice sort of froze us - this was a mean bitch. She just organized killing the five people closest to her for most of her adult life, and she showed only elation. "Well guys, you have heard what my agent recorded just a few minutes ago, I doubt that Jane has even gotten home yet. So what do we do now?" Amy reached over and took Jim's hand and then Julie's. She looked straight at Marv and spoke very clearly. "I want Jane dead, and I want Phil dead and I want those two that did the dirty work dead. I'm not interested in the police, I am not interested in long trials with lots of lawyers, I am interested in all four of them dead, period." She looked over at Jim as she said the last words. He met her gaze and saw the determination and the coldness in her eyes. She was completely serious and Jim realized at that moment that so was he - he wanted them dead too. Jim glanced in the other direction at Julie and she was looking at him with the same expression in her blue eyes, they were the color of ice. This was some pair of girls he thought. "This seems to be unanimous with us Marv," Jim said. "We don't see any reason for them to live, they have crossed the line from people who deserve to live under the rule of law to the side of mad dogs that need to be destroyed." "I agree with you and the girls Jim. If you had asked I would have arranged for enough evidence to be 'found' to convict them of murder, but without bodies it would have still been tricky with their connections. The best way is to terminate them and terminate them now, I just wanted to hear it from you first. I'll get in touch with both of my people up there and set the events in motions for accidents to happen to all four of them. The question now is do you want to stay alive or do we take advantage of this opportunity to have you three disappear?" The three of them just sat there and stared at Marv. "What do you mean 'disappear' Marv?" Amy questioned. "And why would we want to do that, I mean with Jane out of the picture Daddy is free to do what he planned with the company, and the three of us can be together." "In a perfect world you would be correct Amy, but stop and think a minute. Your mother and one of her associates at the law firm have accidents just hours after the boat you and your Dad are on blows up, killing the other partners in the business. Then the three of you show up unhurt. The police are bound to wonder if there is a connection, they will dig into the whole business to see if there is any evidence of foul play. They can find traces of explosive on the wreckage, who planted a bomb? You three are the only ones alive and the only three that benefit from the deaths of the others. Can the three of you stand that sort of scrutiny?" I looked over at the girls, they seemed worried, Marv's words had hit home. We might be suspected of the murders, especially if our real relationship came to light. "I'd better explain." Marv went on, " Marie and I know more about your relationship than you think we know (Marie and the two girls exchanges glances, a faint smile appeared on their faces), my recordings of the conversations in the beach house were not effected by the silencing device that blocked Jane's recordings. We heard all the words spoken. Again I apologize, my motivation was not to snoop on you but to protect you and I had to know what was being said all the time. I care too much about you guys to do this job half-assed." "So you know about the relationship that Daddy and Julie and I..." "I know how much you three love each other and how you want to be together. I also know how much society frowns on what you want to do. I know because Marie and I share that special kind of relationship as well and one of the reasons we live here, alone, is to allow that relationship to exist." he interrupted, looking at Marie lovingly. Marie though it was strange that the three girls knew everything and the men were still trying to discuss it in oblique terms. "But what about my company, what about our lives, we can't just disappear Marv, it wouldn't be fair to my girls to spend our lives in hiding, I mean how am I going to make a living if I'm 'dead'." Jim said, putting an arm around each of the girls and pulling them close to him. "First of all no one is talking about giving everything up and just hiding out. I'm talking about new lives, lives working with me in this business. I'll buy your company Jim, we can use the software development assets. I'll wire ten million to a joint account in the Caymans for you and the girls tomorrow morning, call it a signing bonus. Then after some serious training you three will join Marie and I in owning and running 'our' new company here out of this house - you'll still get all the profits from your company. First, though, I would recommend some time in the field to let things cool down around here and so that you can see first hand what it is we really do." "What exactly do you do anyway Marv, I know it is some sort of security work, but as I told Amy and Julie it's sort of murky exactly what 'security' means, that word can cover a lot of territory now days," Jim said, leaning forward towards Marv. "Well, let's put it this way Jim. You know all the James Bond movies, the license to kill stuff, the save the world shit? Let's just say that I have a very, repeat very, informal arrangement with the highest levels of the US government to do things that need to be done that no official agency can be allowed to get mixed up in, it can be very stimulating. Are you three interested? I can promise you can be together, there will be plenty of money and you will never be bored!" "Well girls? You said you wanted an adventure, are you willing to give up everything and go adventuring?" Jim asked, kissing each of them on the top of the head. "Daddy as long as we can be together I don't care what we do and you know how I feel about adventures." "Me too Uncle Jim, you and Amy are all the family I have now, and besides someone has to go with you and Amy to make sure that things get done on time and correctly. Count me in." "Well Jim, Amy and Julie, sounds like we about to become one happy family, welcome to the Omega Group - by the way we are called that because we are the last resort, they never call us unless no one else can do the job." Marv leaned over and poured brandy into the five glasses. He handed us each a glass and proposed a toast. "To interesting times." "And True Love" Amy added. The five of them started to discuss the plans for the next twenty-four hours and how they would "tie up all the loose ends", as Marv kept referring to disposing of Jane and her helpers. It was after one in the morning when everyone decided to call it a night, Julie had already gone to sleep on the couch, her head in Jim's lap. Amy woke her up and Marie took them down to the bedroom they would be using. Jim and Marv went to the operations room for one last check of the situation in the Bay Area and in La Jolla at the beach house. The plan to remove Jane and her friends - permanently - was well underway. Chapter 3 Jakarta - The Present "Welcome to Indonesia Mr. and Mrs. Morris. My name is Sun Lim and I have had the honor of arranging the meeting with our government for resolution of this difficult situation," the elderly man said, opening the conversation, going along with the story he and Mitchell had cooked-up for Amy's benefit. "I hope your time here is profitable and entertaining. After your meeting Mr. Morris, I would be honored if you and your lovely wife would join me at my humble home for a late dinner. I have invited some of my oldest friends, and I think you will find them very interesting and entertaining - especially you Mrs. Morris," he added with a slight smile and a bow of his head in her direction, no one wanted a scene until the letter was safely delivered and the money in the bank. Time enough to ravage this delicate flower after that Sun Lim thought contentedly. Amy smiled at the elderly Chinese man seated across from her while noticing that he was looking at her with the same look as the other men - an inspecting the merchandise look. It made her very uncomfortable - she didn't think she wanted to find out what Sun Lim meant by "interesting and entertaining". "And now Mr. Morris perhaps you would be kind enough to share the contents of that unfortunate letter with me," Sun Lim said looking at the small case on the floor next to Mitchell's chair. "Actually Mr. Lim, I will have to go to the front desk to collect it, it won't take a moment," Mitchell answered. As he stood up, Amy took the opportunity to make her move as well. Excusing herself to "freshen up" she got up and started across the crowded lounge. In response to a subtle gesture from Sun Lim the steward who had been standing by the front door suddenly appeared along side of her and was obviously escorting her directly to the ladies room. As Amy neared the far side of the room where the rest rooms were located she almost stumbled in surprise as she saw Julie and Jim sitting at a table near the wall. Jim was wearing a black wig and glasses, and Julie had her back to the room. Amy was amazed that they were here in the hotel, and had obviously found her without any help from her. Never underestimate my Daddy she thought triumphantly - or my sister. Now Mitchell is really and truly fucked. They must have a plan and she bet it was a good one. As she pushed open the door of the ladies room the steward took up a position standing outside the door, facing the crowd. Julie walked right by him without even a glance as she pushed open the door behind Amy and went inside as well. Jim watched the whole procedure from his seat at the table. He marveled again to himself how useful it was to have females working the mission with him. If he had tried to have a meeting with someone in a rest room the guard would have been inside with him, making conversation impossible - but a ladies room was one place where the guards just didn't go. Amy moved to the far end of the ladies room and was just turning around when Julie came into the ornate room, a big smile spreading across her face. She looked quickly around and seeing the room empty motioned toward a stall. She and Amy were quickly inside of the small stall and hugging each other tightly. "God, Amy I'm so glad to see you, that bastard Mitchell almost give us the slip with that fake London flight. Daddy caught on to his plan before we left Melbourne and we diverted to Jakarta instead of ending up at Heathrow with egg on our faces. Daddy and Thomas - our man in Jakarta - are outside listening on the medallion as well as Marv and Marie in California through a relay, so don't get mushy on me," Julie laughed. After Amy had said hello to everyone she put her hand around the medallion, covering up the microphone hole and whispered to Julie. "Listen I have to pee like a bandit, just keep talking to me and tell me the plan as I pee - keep up the conversation so they can't hear me - damn, this is so embarrassing," Amy said, a faint red blush on her face as she released the microphone medallion and pulled her jeans and panties down and sat on the toilet. Julie was tempted to keep silent for a few minutes since she knew Amy wouldn't start peeing until she started talking to cover the sound. But she took pity on Amy and besides she was just so glad to see her she couldn't do that - although Amy deserved it for making her spend the night with Mitchell she thought filled with self-righteousness. "OK honey, here's the plan. Mitchell is bringing the letter to the table now and will be showing it to Sun Lim. He sent it by DHL to the hotel here from Melbourne -that's how Daddy got on to him. We'll be monitoring that conversation with a bug that Thomas put on the bottom of the table you were sitting at. We can hear what he and Sun Lim are saying and since Thomas can see them we'll know where the letter is before you leave the ladies room. I have the fake envelope here with me, Daddy picked it up from the GPO on his way to the airport on a hunch - here, put it in your purse. Somehow you need to switch it with the real letter before Mitchell goes to the meeting with the General. Daddy and I think that he must have a shirt and tie in his small case, he is wearing his blazer with that sports shirt, but that is too casual an outfit for him to wear to see the General. That means he has to go to his room here at the hotel to change. We have the suite next door to his. When he goes to the meeting you will probably have to stay in the suite, or he might try to send you off with Sun Lim. You must stay in the hotel, come up with some excuse if he tries to get you to leave with the old man - have an attack of the vapors or something. Daddy and I will get you out of your room with the real letter and then follow Mitchell to the meeting to see if he gets out alive when the General finds out the letter is a fake. Hopefully he will wear the cuff links and we can hear what goes on in the meeting - Daddy is betting he will since he is so vain and status conscious and the cuff links are so expensive looking." The whole time Julie was talking Amy was peeing (a look of great relief on her face). They both finished at about the same time. Amy quietly stood up and pulled up her panties and jeans. "What if I can't switch the letter Julie, what should I do?" "We decided that if he starts for the door of the hotel room and he still has the real letter you disable him and let us in to the room, there's a connecting door, we've already been up there and checked it out. We'll take the letter from him and take him out. Then we leave with you and the letter. That's a last resort, we really want him discredited with the General by him showing up with a blank letter." Julie took her "cell phone" out of her purse. Using the override channel she asked Thomas if Mitchell was back at the table yet. Thomas told her he had just returned and he would call back as soon as Sun Lim had finished reading the letter and Mitchell had put it in his case or his pocket. Julie tuned in channel three and Amy leaned in close to her, putting her ear up against Julie's so that she could hear the conversation at the table. "Here is the letter my friend. I had sent it here to the hotel so that I wasn't leaving the country with it on my person, just in case the government tried to stop me. Read it and call the General and verify it's contents. Then he is to send the money to my account - one million of it is yours of course. I will wire it to you when I am safely in Europe." Mitchell handed Sun Lim the white envelope. "So I presume that you collected from the Australians as well?" Sun Lim said as he opened the envelope and took out the letter. "That's really of no concern to you, our deal is for you to get ten percent of what I collect from the General, any other funds are irrelevant to our deal." "Your remarks answer my question adequately. But I have no interest in any money other than what we have agreed upon. I will require that you leave the American girl with me as a gift when you leave. That would be a condition of my advising the General to pay promptly and let you leave the country immediately. Otherwise we might have to wait until the other government officials have seen the letter," the old man said quietly, making eye contact with Mitchell. "Agreed, providing I can have the first 'taste' of her since she's a virgin." "By all means my young friend, I have no desire to bend my stalk by assaulting her virgin jade gate, I have released that pleasure to younger men many years ago. I'm sure I can show her things that she has equally never seen. My associates and I will pass many pleasant hours with the enjoyment of her young white body before we begin to earn a nice income from it. She is so typically American with those large breasts and round thighs and plump ass - I think my mid-eastern clients will especially enjoy debasing her." The old man began reading the letter. When he had finished he folded it carefully and placed it back into the envelop, tucking the flap inside the envelope as he had found it. He handed it back to Mitchell who put it into the inside pocket of his blazer. "Most foolish for the Minister of Defence to request that information of the Americans, and equally foolish for the American CIA Director to answer it in writing. Have you considered that the Americans might pay for the letter as well?" Mitchell answered that he had given that some thought, but he felt it made things too complicated, and quite frankly he was a bit concerned about taking money from the Americans and not delivering - they tended to have long arms these days and also short tempers. Sun Lim agreed with him and said that he would call the General from his car and tell him that the letter was genuine and to release the ten million into Mitchell's account. He said it would be in the account in a matter of minutes. Coming up on the communicator channel Thomas told Amy and Julie where the letter was located when Mitchell had put it away. After freshening her makeup slightly Amy left the rest room and was on her way back to the table, trailed by the guard. Sun Lim saw them approaching and quickly suggested to Mitchell that Amy return to his compound with him. Mitchell, just as quickly demurred, saying that she would stay in his room here at the hotel until he was finished with his business with the General and then he would pick her up and come to Sun Lim's compound. Sun Lim agreed as long as he could put a guard outside of the room while Mitchell was gone to be sure that Amy didn't leave the hotel. They both agreed just as Amy approached the table. As Mitchell rose to pull out Amy's chair Sun Lim rose as well, motioning to his guard to summon the driver. "I look forward to seeing more of you later my dear," the old man said a very slight smile on his face. "Until tonight then." A very entertaining evening was ahead the old man thought. He would relish nourishing his yang in this tight young virgin yin - he just hoped that some of his friends wouldn't have heart attacks assaulting this tight young jade gate while lying atop those large tits. She was so healthy looking with that big voluptuous body - so American looking. He was really going to enjoy debasing her and teaching her to be submissive to him when he brought her pain with the hot needles. Yes, it was going to be a wonderful evening he told himself contentedly. Particularly with the plan he had worked out earlier that day with the General. Mitchell and Amy both remained standing as the old man and his guards walked down the long staircase and out of the front door to his waiting car. Amy started to sit down but Mitchell reached out and took her arm. "Let's get checked in dearest, I only have a few minutes until my meeting and I want to go to our room and put on a fresh shirt and tie." Score one for Daddy, Amy thought as she accompanied Mitchell to the Registration Desk. That old man really gave her the creeps, he had a very hard look in his eyes, it was like he was capable any act, no matter who got hurt. She didn't want to be alone with him under any circumstances, and certainly not at his house. She just thanked her lucky stars that Julie and Daddy had followed her so closely and were here to back her up. They were quickly checked in and since they had no baggage given the key to their suite and directed towards the elevators. When they had gotten into their suite Mitchell opened his case and took out a light blue dress shirt and a dark blue tie with a subdued pattern in gold and red which he laid out on the bed. He took off his jacket and hung it over the back of a chair next to the ornate writing desk. He took off his striped sports shirt while standing next to the bed and slipped on the fresh one. After buttoning it up he turned to face the mirror over the desk and carefully knotted his tie. He reached back into the case and took out the small box with the heavy gold cuff links inside. As he inserted them into the cuffs of his shirt Amy walked over to him and took one of his wrists in his hand and began admiring the cuff links. She suddenly reached up and putting her hand on the back of his neck pulled him down into a deep, hard kiss. He seemed shocked at first but then responded quickly. Thrusting his tongue into her mouth he brought a hand up to squeeze on her breast through her sweater. After a few seconds of his groping Amy broke the kiss off and stepped back as though she was catching her breath. "Ohh I'm so sorry Johnny, I just don't know what came over me - I just had to do that or I would go crazy. I'm so proud of what you have done to help these poor people over here avoid the terrible threat of a war. You are just the best man I know. " Amy ducked her head shyly and looked up at him under her eyelashes as she continued in a soft little voice. "Hurry back honey, while you're gone I'll take nice hot shower and jump into bed for a little nap - I hope you will join me when you get back - and I also hope you're not too disappointed that I don't have anything to wear in bed." Amy subtly held her breath making her face a little red as though she were blushing (a trick the CIA psychologist had taught her). Mitchell just stood with his mouth hanging open and a raging hardon - this bitch was the hottest thing he had ever been around, those tits were unbelievable, so big and so firm. He could still feel the firmness of her tit filling his hand. Now he couldn't wait to get back, he decided he would fuck her here first - pop her cherry, then after a few rounds take her over to Sun Lim's and fuck her up the ass for the video camera, then turn her over to the old man and his friends and just settle back with a glass of wine to watch the show. He walked towards her to get another feel when she reached out and put a hand on his chest, stopping him. "Johnny don't forget the time, and you have to go wash the lipstick off your mouth, it looks like you have been fooling around with a sexy woman - besides it's not your shade," Amy giggled. Mitchell stopped, and looked up in the mirror and distractedly moved into the bathroom. When she heard the water start running Amy moved quickly to her purse and got out the envelope. She moved over to the chair and rapidly switched the envelopes. As she put the one from his jacket into her purse she pulled the flap open slightly and saw that it was the correct paper and she could see typing on the other side of the sheet. She wasn't going to let them be fooled twice. Amy brought her medallion close to her lips and whispered into it. "I've got the real letter and the fake is in his jacket pocket." When he came out of the bathroom he still looked a bit flustered. Walking over to the chair he grabbed his jacket and slipped it on. He started to reach into the inside pocket to check the letter but suddenly Amy was behind him, pressing into his back with her hard tits and firm thighs. She reached around to slide her hands up the insides of his thighs and took his prick and balls in her hands. "Bring this back to me real quick honey, I really want to feel you up inside of me, filling me with your hard maleness. I can't wait for you to make me a woman Johnny - just hurry," Amy said in a breathless little whisper in his ear, her tongue running around the outside of his ear lobe. Mitchell was totally befuddled by this sudden sexual activity from Amy. He almost lost his balance when she pulled away from him, he had to reach out with both hand to grab the back of the chair. He figured he had better get out of there quickly, before he forgot his appointment and let his hard prick take over. Also he had to call his bank from the lobby to check if the money was in the account. Then as soon as he was done with the General he would call back and move the money so that Sun Lim and the General wouldn't know his new account number. He stopped at the door and turned to face Amy. He was still feeling flushed and his prick was pounding in his pants. "Uhh - I've got to go dear, I guess. Uh, yes well, I'll be back within the hour, you shower and get some rest and I'll see you very soon. Also I forgot to tell you Sun Lim wants to put a guar..uhh a man, outside our door to make sure you aren't disturbed just in case something goes wrong at my meeting." As if that would stop the General if he wanted to grab you bitch, Mitchell said to himself. Then suddenly he was out the door and it swung shut behind him. Amy went over to the door and opening it a crack saw the back of a very large man with a completely shaved head standing a few feet outside the door, his arms crossed in front of him. She quietly shut the door and moved quickly over to the connecting door to the suite next door. She knocked once softly on the door then opened her side. The other side was already open and Julie and Jim were standing right by the door, Jim with his pistol in his hand. Amy came through the door and threw her arms around her Daddy hugging him tightly. "Daddy! You must be the smartest man in the whole world. I almost wet my pants when I saw you and Julie sitting at that table in the lounge. God, was I ever glad to see you two there. I was starting to get worried." Jim hugged her back and then told her that everyone was still on the net listening to what was going on. He handed Amy her communicator and an ear piece. "Let's listen to what's going on with Mitchell," Jim said. They heard the elevator door open and the faint noise from all the people in the lobby. They heard him ask a member of the hotel staff where there was an outside telephone where he might make an international call. The man respond with directions to the bank of telephones in a small room off the main lobby. The cuff link microphones were working perfectly and when Mitchell spoke to the international operator with the hand holding the handset near his face it was like he was in the room with them. Mitchell placed the call to the bank in the Caymans. When he was connected with an account officer he gave his account number and password. Then when the banker had accepted his entry into his account Mitchell inquired as to the balance. He was told that the current balance of his account stood at nineteen million, nine hundred and seventy three thousand US dollars. He was informed that a small amount had been taken out as the bank's processing fee over the last twenty-four hours. The delight in Mitchell's voice was unmistakable, he was obviously thrilled that he had pulled it off and gotten money from both sides. He told the banker that he would be calling back very soon to move the money to a bank in Zurich for a short period and he would be putting it back in their bank. He obviously wanted good cooperation from the bank in the Caymans so he didn't want them to think he was taking his money out permanently. They heard him hang up the telephone. Thomas came on the override channel and told them that Mitchell was heading for the front door. He also told them that there was a official car waiting at the curb for Mitchell with three very large escorts to take him to the General - even through the car from the airport with Sun Lim's driver was still waiting. They heard one of the escorts come up to Mitchell and invite him to join them in their car for the ride to the meeting. Mitchell told them that he had already arranged a car for the ride to the meeting, but the escorts told him that they had very clear instructions that he was to ride with them since funds had already been transferred. Mitchell told them that he had just confirmed that on the telephone and if they insisted he would ride with them to the meeting. The large shaven head man was very clear. "Yes, we do insist - most firmly." They heard a car door open and close behind Mitchell, and the sounds of the car driving. Amy turned to Julie and Jim with a big grin on her face. "Well I guess the shit is about to hit the fan for our Mr. Mitchell, and it couldn't happen to a more deserving person." Chapter 4 California - The Past (June 1997) The next morning when Jim woke up he couldn't remember where he was for a few minutes. Julie and Amy slept on each side of him in large bed, the room didn't look familiar. Then, as he began to be more awake, it all came rushing back to him. The trip on Silver Cloud, the call to Marv, the explosion and the seemingly endless search in the Zodiac for Larry and Diane. Then Marv and his daughter, swooping out of the sky to pick them up in a helicopter. As he began remembering hearing the tape from Jane's car his anger came back, strong and cold. He looked at the innocent looking faces on the young girls sleeping next to him and he vowed, again, to bring Jane and her henchmen to the end that they deserved. He still couldn't believe Larry and Diane were dead. He glanced back over at Amy and saw that her green eyes were wide open and looking at him. She spoke quietly, as if she had been reading his mind - as she often seemed to do. "Daddy, did it all happen like I remember from last night? Did that bitch Jane really try to kill us and are Aunt Diane and Uncle Larry really dead?" "Yes honey, it all happened. It's just the three of us now, and our first order of business is to help Marv in anyway we can to get rid of that bitch and her helpers. Then we can look at starting to put our lives back together." Jim reached out and gathered Amy into his arms, holding her tightly as he felt her start to sob again with the realization that Larry and Diane were gone. After a few seconds he felt her take a deep breath and then her sobbing stopped. She looked up at him, her eyes still red from the crying. "Daddy, I want you to adopt Julie, I want her to really be my sister and you to be her Daddy. She doesn't have anyone but us right now and I want her to understand that you will be as much her Daddy as you are mine - that she and I both share you equally, in all ways and for all time." Amy looked at Jim earnestly and he could tell that she meant what she said. "Of course we will adopt Julie, she will always have us as her family. But for now let's concentrate on helping Marv. Let's get in the shower and get some breakfast, we can wake Julie when we get out of the shower. I think that you might want to talk with her alone for a few minutes before we both talk with her." Jim and Amy quietly slipped out of bed and headed for the shower. When they came out into bedroom to put on their sweat suits they saw that someone, probably Marie they guessed, had come in quietly and left a pot of coffee and mugs on the small table by the bed. Jim got dressed and taking a cup of coffee, went out the bedroom door to see if Marv was in the operations room. Amy poured a cup of coffee for both her and Julie and sat down on the edge of the bed and leaned down and kissed Julie softly on the forehead. She hated to wake her up, but they had to face the reality of today - and get started on the job of evening the score. Jim found Marv in the operations room on the speaker phone with one of his agents in the Bay Area. The agent was describing the current situation to Marv. Jane was up and getting ready to leave to go to the Alameda County Sheriff's office in response to a call that she had received from the office a few hours ago, no doubt concerning the explosion of the boat. Phil Waddington was enroute to her house to join her, and they should be starting toward the County Sheriff's office in about twenty minutes. The bug in her car was still active and they had a full tap on all her phones, including the cell phone in her car. Marv told Jim that they had their plan in effect, his agent had place several devices on her car. Marv also said that his agent in La Jolla had already taken care of the man down there, the one they called Jeff. Marv's man had waited quietly in the beach house until the man had come in during the early morning hours to remove the bugs. While he was busy in the loft the agent had come up behind him and put in ice pick four inches up into his cerebellum. Marv explained that with this type of puncture death was instantaneous and since it stopped the heart, there was no bleeding. He told Jim that the agent had put Jeff's body in the trunk of his rental car and driven it across the border to Tijuana where he had left it, parked in a very rundown neighborhood. The agent figured the car would be stolen before he could even get back across the border. Since Jeff had checked out of his motel, and had his suitcase in the truck Marv figured that whoever took the car would just dump the body somewhere and sell the stuff in the suitcase; Jeff would have just disappeared. The girls had just walked into the operations room, accompanied by Marie when Marv's agent in Berkeley called in again. Jane and Waddington were in the car and enroute. He had relayed the voices from within the car and the five of them sat and listened to Phil and Jane discuss how they planned to liquidate Jim's assets as well as gut the company and the maximum cash as quickly as possible. Neither of them was interested in trying to do anything with the assets of the company other than get rid of them for the maximum cash. As they traveled south on Interstate 80, nearing Emoryville the two agents trailing them came back on the radio. "OK Marv, we are about three minutes from where we are going pop the explosive caps. The idea, as you know, is to force the car to swerve into the Bay just short of the turn to the bridge, the water there is about fifty feet deep." Marv explained to Jim and the girls that the agents had put remote controlled explosive devices on the inside of each wheel. These explosive capsules had a very small shaped charge that directed all the energy of the explosion in a particular direction. - in this case through he top of the wheel and through the tire, causing it to blow out. They also had put an explosive cap underneath the master cylinder for the brakes, when it was detonated the brakes on the Mercedes would instantly become inoperative. The five of them sat on the edges of their cars, listening to the conversation in the Mercedes. Suddenly there was a soft popping sound and they heard Jane curse. Phil asked her what was wrong as before she could answer they heard the sound of the tires squealing on the highway. There was a crashing sound, both Jane and Phil were cursing at this point, then a loud splash as the fast moving car plunged into the cold and dark waters of San Francisco Bay, the sound of the airbag detonating sounded like an explosion in the confined area. They could hear someone screaming and pounding on the windows of the car, the sound of water filling the car could be heard in the background. The screaming got louder as did the pounding. Jim asked Marv why they didn't get a window down to equalize the water pressure. Marv told him that all the electrical power was off since the battery shorted in the salt water, none of the electric windows or the sunroof would work, the power door locks were probably on as well, so the doors wouldn't open even if they would push against the water pressure. The screaming suddenly cut-off as the water reached the self-contained batteries of the bugs. Jim and the girls were holding hands, their knuckles white and their lips set in thin lines. Marie was staring at the three of them, a look of concern on her face. When the noise from the car suddenly stopped the agents were back on the radio. "Looks like that's the end of those two Marv, we'll head down the peninsula and take care of the scumbag in San Mateo - Bill took care of the one in La Jolla, so this will wrap it up. We'll call when we get rid of the last one." Marv told them to finish it up and get back to him as soon as it was done. He turned to look at Jim and the girls. "Well my friends, it's over. She's gone and the ones that helped along with her. That's all we can do for now. I suggest that we have some breakfast and get busy planning the training program, you three have a lot to learn." Marv walked over to where they were sitting and reached out his hands to the girls. Julie and Amy each took one of his hands and stood, putting their heads on his shoulders as he put his arms around them. Both girls took deep breaths, their expressions clearing. The five of them walked out to the elevator to take them up to the residential area where Marie had laid out their breakfast. Chapter 5 Jakarta - The Present Amy carefully opened the door to her room just a crack to see where the guard was standing. He was in exact place where she had seen him last - that's the good thing about these big types she thought, they didn't move much when they didn't have to, they just stood in place until something stimulated them - which she was about to do. She turned and looked over her shoulder at Julie watching her through the connecting door to the other suite and gave her a nod. Amy waited a few seconds for Julie to get into position and then flung her door to the hall wide open. The guard turned instantly towards the noise (she had to give him credit, when he did move, he was quick), his eyes opening wide. Amy gave him a big grin and reached up and put both hands under her breasts, pushing them in his direction. "Like a little squeeze of these honey?" she said, totally confusing the guard. Julie had come quietly through the door from her suite from the other side, the guard caught the movement out of the corner of his eye and he stopped his turn toward Amy and tried to reorient himself back to the approaching Julie. Julie planted on her left foot and spun around executing a perfect spin kick, the heel of her stocking clad right foot impacting on the guard's sternum at the maximum extension of her powerful leg muscles. There was a quiet "woofing" sound from the guard as he fell to his knees, temporarily unable to breath from the force of the kick. Julie moved into him quickly and brought her clasped hands, fingers interlaced, down perfectly on the back of the guards neck right at the base of his skull. The guard silently sprawled on the carpeted floor of the hallway. The whole thing had taken less than ten seconds from when Amy had first opened her door. Jim came quickly into the hall from their room and the three of them dragged the heavy guard into the suite reserved for Mr. and Mrs. Williams. "Holy shit this guy is heavy," Julie said looking at Amy, out of breath. "I'm just glad that Daddy is here, the two of us girls would have had to cut him up and moved him a piece at a time." "OK , girls. Let's get Jumbo here tied and gagged. I want to get on the road and get to where Mitchell is meeting with the General. If we can get close enough we should be able to hear the conversation. Nice takedown by the way Julie." "Hey, what about me," Amy complained. "I helped too you know." Julie looked pointedly at Amy's tits and just rolled her eyes. Amy and Jim both broke out in laughter. It felt so good for the three of them back together and have the damn letter secured - Amy felt like she was floating two feet off the ground after the last ten hours. Jim and the girls tied the guard's hands and feet as well as gagging him. They secured his feet to the foot of the massive bed so that he wouldn't be crawling anywhere near the door or the telephone. They went though the connecting door and picked up all of Mitchell's stuff from his room and straightened things out so that it looked as though no one had used the room - even to the detail of replacing a used towel in the bathroom (with lipstick on it) with a clean one from their room. They locked both connecting doors and put a Do Not Disturb sign of the door to their suite. That assured them of at least twenty-four hours before anyone would find the guard. "Before we leave I want to get rid of that fucking letter." Jim said. Amy handed the envelope to him and Jim took it into the bathroom. Amy picked up a pack of matches from the ashtray on the table and struck one. Jim held the letter over the toilet and Amy touched the tip of the flame to the pages. The paper disappeared in a smokeless flash, a few light gray ashes floating down into the bowl. Jim did the same thing with the envelope - which burned in at more conventional speed. Flushing the ashes away he turned and gave Amy a big grin. "Remember the last time we burned something and flushed it away honey?" "How could I forget Daddy, it was our license to be together - somehow that flame started all of this, good thing we didn't know how complicated it was going to get. I'm definitely getting all the adventure I can handle." Amy reached out and hugged him, Julie joining in. Amy and Jim were talking about the letter that Jane (Jim's ex-wife and murderer of Julie's parents) had been using to blackmail Jim and keep Amy away from him (see Amy Part 1). "Enough strolling down memory lane guys, let's get out of here." Julie chimed in, bring them all back to the present. As the three of them headed down the hallway towards the elevators Jim made contact with Thomas on his "cell phone", telling him that they were on the way and to get the car up to the front doors. Thomas answered them and told them that he was already out front and that he had been able to monitor their conversations and Marv and Marie were still tuned on the satellite link from the car and had been listening too. Jim took the opportunity to give Marv some instructions on his cell phone communicator that was dialed to the car's satellite link. "Marv, I need you or Marie to get on the computer and alter all the records here in the hotel. I want us to disappear off the records as Williams. Give us another name so that the Williams legend is not burned but it looks like someone is in the suite so that the staff will respect the DND (Do Not Disturb) sign. Also make Mitchell look like he had a reservation but never checked-in. Then get Mitchell a reservation on a flight to Hong Kong or Tokyo - first class and leaving as soon as possible. Make it look like he planned to check on the money and then split before the meeting with the General. That will fit with his reluctance to get in the car with the General's men. When they check on his suite he won't be registered and the guard is missing as thought he had never been there - any if anyone brings up Amy there will be no record of her. I think if enough pressure is put on Mitchell Sun Lim will find out and he will get out of the country as quickly as possible, or turn on Mitchell - he has no proof that the letter existed either. The only people that saw the letter were Mitchell, Sun Lim, Amy and the guard standing behind Sun Lim's chair and he is tied and gagged in the hotel." "Will do Jim. Marie is already at work on the computer, it should be done in the next five to ten minutes. And Julie? Good work on the takedown, Marie is pissed that we don't have video on the medallion so that she could have watched. She swears that she will find a way to include digital video on the next model." "I think audio is plenty you guys." Amy said. "It intimidates me enough to think that the Free World is listening to all my conversations - let alone watching. And, just for the record, Julie had my help on the guard." They all heard Julie and Jim break into laughter in the background. They would have to find out just what Amy was doing when she was distracting the guard - but that could wait until Thomas was off the net. Marv came back on the line and told them it looked like JAL (Japan Airlines) Flight 23 from Jakarta to Hong Kong was their best bet, it was scheduled to leave in about an hour from now, Marie had made a first class reservation for Mr. Mitchell on the flight - one way. When they got to the lobby Jim went to the bell stand and gave Mitchell's bag to a bell man, requesting that he send it by taxi to the airport to be held for pickup at the JAL first class ticket counter by Mr. Mitchell, a passenger on Flight 23. He tipped him heavily to insure that it would be done immediately. Jim and the girls walked quickly to Thomas' waiting car. They climbed in the back seat and Thomas pulled quickly away from the curb and into traffic. Julie looked over at Amy and took her hand in hers, squeezing it tightly. She took Amy's medallion in her other hand, covering the microphone input as she leaned in to whisper to Amy. "Amy dearest sister, I'm just so relieved to have you back with us. I was so scared when you and Mitchell drove away in that cab outside of the Regent. I don't want anyone else to know how scared I was, but I just don't think I'm cut out for this stuff." "Julie honey," Amy whispered back. "Everyone gets scared on a op like this, don't you remember what Mike told us back at Marv's? He said that everyone gets scared, it's a good thing if you can manage it. Fear isn't the problem, it is unmanaged fear that is dangerous - that what a hero is, someone that is scared silly but can still function and make the right decisions. You made exactly the right decision even though you were scared - that proves his point. You saved my life Julie, and I love and admire you more than you will ever know. And besides that takedown was fucking fantastic - I have to admit it, all I did was stand there with my hands on my tits." Both girls had a few tears on their cheeks at this point and they burst into laughter. o Jim just looked over and silently handed them tissues from the box in the car and inclined his head forward just an inch or so indicating Thomas in the front seat and the need to maintain a little professionalism - but he knew what they were going through and he had to keep reminding himself how young they really were and what traumas they had undergone over the last year. He was so very proud of them, he felt like heart would burst with pride. The tension of he past few days was finally draining out of him - to be replaced, he noted with delight, with a real desire to get these two girls of his alone on the boat for a long, naked night. Marv came back on the speakers in the car, updating them on the progress with Mitchell. "OK team, we've worked the computer at the hotel. Now it shows that Mr. Mitchell has a suite reserved but has not checked in as yet. We felt best to go that way since the General may have already checked the reservations and seen Mitchell's. Also we left the reservation for the table in the lounge intact in case someone noticed them there - someone may have seen Amy, but there is no record of her coming into the country on the charter. Sun Lim helped us with that without knowing it. I don't think you were supposed to get out of Indonesia Amy, they went to a lot of trouble to not show anyone coming in with Mitchell." "I think you're right Marv, both of them - Mitchell and Sun Lim - were treating me like a commodity, I think they had plans for me that didn't include a quiet dinner and a trip back to the States." "Just a second guys, Marie is trying to tell me something...Oh, great honey. Marie has finished programming the computer for a voice synthesis of Mitchell's voice based on the recordings from the cuff links. We're about to call the bank in the Cayman's and fuck with his money big time. I'll be talking through the synthesizer and I should sound pretty much like Mitchell, I'm throwing in a little background noise like it is a bad phone line to help with the imitation. We were able to get the phone number by analysis on the tones that we picked up through the cuff links as he dialed. OK here goes." They heard the dial tone then the beeps as the international call was dialed. They heard the phone ringing and then a voice as it was answered. They could tell that it was the same man that Mitchell had talked with just a few minutes ago. Then they heard Marv talking - it was weird, they knew it was Marv, but it sounded almost exactly like Mitchell. "This is Barkley Butler, may I help you?" "Yes, this is account B40306 again Mr. Butler, we spoke just a few minutes ago. I have instructions for moving my funds. I would like the entire account - with the exception of one thousand dollars - to be move to the Credit Zurich Bank, number T281765-0021." "Fine sir, your authentication code please," the banker responded. "The authorization is Minator," Marv answered through the synthesizer. "Thank you sir, the money will be in your account in Zurich within ten minutes; and did you say that you will be returning the money to this account in the near future?" "Yes, I will, but I want to use a new password from now on, the account authorization word will now be Robinhood. Please do not answer any questions about my account, other than the present balance without that password - even to me." "As you wish sir, I understand that I am authorized to reveal the current balance with the old password of Minator, but no other information without the new password of Robinhood, is that correct?" "Yes, you do have it correct. Thank you for your attention in this matter, I hope to move the money back in the next few days. Please expedite the transfer to my other account as much as possible. And it is very important that you respect the password change." "Actually sir I have been inputting the information as we have been speaking and the money is already on deposit in your account number T281765 -0021 at Credit Zurich," the banker responded with a note of pride in his voice. "I might add that respect for privacy is what you pay us for, and what we deliver in any and all circumstances." "Wonderful, I just hope the Swiss are as efficient as you seem to be when I move the money back Mr. Butler," Marv added an impressed tone in his voice. "Good day, and thank you." They heard the telephone hang up and then Marv was back talking in his normal voice. "Well you heard it team, Mr. Mitchell will have an interesting time explaining to the General where his money has gone. Plus the fact that we are nineteen million and some change to the good for this operation." "Marv, you mean that you aren't going to return the General's money?" Jim laughed. "But I guess we do have to give the Aussies back their contribution." "Actually they agreed that if we could discredit Mitchell and destroy the letter we could keep their ten million as our fee for the job - and the Agency will make sure that it never shows up as income for us, or the money from the Indonesians - we avoid any problems with the IRS that way. I actually think the Aussies couldn't think of a good way to get the money back in the treasury without a lot of questions. Anyway you folks have done a really good job so far. Now let's see how Mitchell tries to wiggle out of this one." The black limo carrying Mitchell and his guards pulled up outside of a nondescript three story brick building. The first two guards got out of the car ahead of Mitchell and held the door open as he climbed out, followed by the third guard. The four men headed immediately into the building, the lead guard using a card access system located next to the main door. As they proceeded down the hallway, one guard led the way followed by Mitchell with the other two guards behind him, each a little to one side of him. After climbing up a set of stairs to the second floor the lead guard turned into a suite of offices and gestured to a small couch for Mitchell to sit on while he went into an office reported to the General. Mitchell took a seat and one of the guards sat next to him while the other stood blocking the door through which they had entered the office. Mitchell was disturbed by the attitude of the guards, during the drive over they didn't say a word, but their eyes never left him. He assumed that they were concerned that he was delivered on time and intact to the meeting. The bulges under their coats made it very clear that they were armed, and he had no doubt that, if necessary, they would use the guns. Ten minutes later Thomas pulled the limo over to the curb just a few hundred feet from the entrance to the building. He pointed to a window on the second floor with heavy drapes blocking them off from the outside. "That's the General's office, if we are lucky he will interview Mitchell there and we will be able to monitor the conversation through the cuff link transmitters. There is also a lower level in the building but I don't know if we could pick up transmissions from there." After Mitchell had been sitting in the outer office for slightly over fifteen minutes the head guard opened the door of the General's office and looked out, beckoning him with a gesture to come into the office. Mitchell stood and walked into the office, the head guard closing the door behind him and placing himself up against it, staring silently at Mitchell as he approached the General desk. The General was talking on the telephone, writing on a piece of paper as he talked. He looked up as Mitchell approached and gestured with his pen towards a chair in front of the desk. Mitchell took a seat in the straight-backed wooden arm chair and crossed his legs; he tried to project a much calmer image then he was feeling inside at this particular moment. It came to him suddenly that this wasn't a game, these were dangerous people that could make him disappear - quickly and permanently, a light sheen of sweat broke out on his forehead. The General hung up the telephone and turned his attention to Mitchell, his dark eyes making contact with Mitchell's eyes and boring directly into him as if trying to uncover any deception. When he spoke it was in a deep voice that had a tone of menace underneath the words. "So, Mr. Mitchell our mutual friend tells me that you have a very interesting document to provide to me." The General said softly to Mitchell in clear, unaccented English. (Jim and the girls along with Thomas and Marv and Marie in California were delighted to be able to hear the conversation clearly.) "Yes sir, I do have such a document and I showed it our friend just a short time ago." "So he has informed me. I have transferred the sum you required to your account based on his assessment of the worth of the letter which you presented to him - a sum which I might add is a considerable one in our current economic situation. Perhaps you might tell me how you came by this document, I have some details but I would prefer to hear it directly from you if you would indulge me." Mitchell related the story to the General of how he had come by the letter. How a secretary with whom he was acquainted saw the letter in the Minister of Defence's safe and told him what it contained. He went on to describe how he got the letter and managed to leave Australia with it. Mitchell skipped over many of the details, only offering the information that put him in the best possible light. The General listen attentively and when Mitchell had finished the explanation he leaned back in his chair. "So, how many people have had access to this letter - outside of the Australian Government," he added, waving his hand as if to dismiss their importance to him. "Just myself, our mutual friend and soon you," Mitchell answered with an attempt to appear relaxed. ("Lying bastard," Amy murmured - Jim put his hand on her arm, silently telling her to just listen and not comment since the microphones in the car were on and he was sure that a recording of this conversation would be provided to the Australians.) "What about this secretary you mentioned?" "Uhh, she is no longer with us," Mitchell answered weakly. "I assume you mean by that statement that you have permanently removed her from being a consideration - not to split hairs that you killed her to keep her from betraying you to the Australian Government." "Well, yes that was the disposition of that problem - obviously I would prefer that that information was kept in this room." "Mr. Mitchell, that information has been known to the Australian Government - and to me for quite some time. Were I you I would not be concerned about being charged with the murder, an open trial is the last thing the Australian Government is interested in having. There is no one else?" Mitchell sat uncomfortably under the gaze of the General for what seemed like ten minutes but was probably less than a minute. How much had Sun Lim told him about Amy? Did the General know about her? Could he take the chance to lie to him? If he told him about Amy is was very unlikely that he would just leave her alone, he would insist on talking to her to see if she had told anyone - should he lie or give her up to the General? Finally his fear overcame his desire to fuck her. "Ahh, there is a girl that has been accompanying me for the past few weeks, she had some knowledge of the letter as well." Mitchell said weakly. (This time it was Julie that made a comment. "Bastard gave you up Amy, I knew he had no spine." Again Jim gestured to the girls to remain silent, although a slight smile played across his lips.) "Be a bit more specific Mr. Mitchell, how much does she really know about the contents of the letter? Has she, for instance, read the entire text?" "Well, yes actually she has - I thought it prudent to let her see it since I wanted her to accompany me out of Australia as a sort of camouflage, I thought that traveling as a married couple we could ..." "Where is this girl at the present Mr. Mitchell?" the general interrupted. "In my suite at the hotel, but Su..our friend has placed a guard outside of the door so that she can't leave or anyone get in." (Amy and Julie looked at each other and raised their arms and slapped hands with big grins on their faces.) The General looked over Mitchell's head and nodded to his man standing by the door. The man opened the door and signaled for one of the other guards to take his place in the office and immediately left the room closing the door behind himself. The new man took up a position identical to the earlier man. "I hope that you will allow the young lady to leave with me when we have..." "Mr. Mitchell, I don't think you realize the seriousness of the situation this letter engenders, if anyone else has knowledge of this letter it will be very dangerous for both of us - more so for you of course. The young lady is no longer of any concern to you, I will take charge of her well-being from this point forward." (Jim and the girls saw the guard leave the building with a second man and get into the car by the curb and drive off in the direction of the hotel.) Mitchell just nodded to the General and sat quietly waiting for him to continue, but he was seething inside. It was clear that Sun Lim had set him up, he was sure that Amy would be at Sun Lim's within the half hour and the old bastard would be fucking her within five minutes after she had arrived. Leave the virgins to the younger men my ass, the old fraud would pop her cherry with delight. There was no way he would ever be able to prove it, he was sure he would never see her again. It bloody well pissed him that he had been outwitted by the two of them. Well he still had the twenty million and all the women he could ever want - fuck the little bitch. "I assume that you received an adequate settlement from the Australians before you came to see me Mr. Mitchell." The General leaned back in his chair, seemingly relaxed since he had dispatched his man to pick up Amy. "With all due respect sir, I don't believe that is germane to our understanding." Mitchell said, still smarting over losing the piece of ass he had been cultivating for the past weeks. The General nodded graciously accepting Mitchell's mild rebuke. "I agree, the question was a bit out of bounds. Perhaps we should cut to the chase here Mr. Mitchell and let me read this letter that seems to have caused so much concern - and made you so wealthy," he added with a slight smile. Mitchell returned the smile, grudgingly. He reached into his inside pocket and took out the letter and leaning forward in the chair handed the envelope to the General. "Here it is sir, as I'm sure you will see it is well worth your investment," Mitchell said smugly and he leaned back in his chair as well, re-crossing his legs and resting his hands on the arms of the chair. ("Holy shit," Julie said. "Here it comes." All four of them in the limo outside leaned slightly forward as if to hear better. Marv and Marie in California did the same thing.) Then General opened the envelope and removed the two sheets of paper. Setting the envelope down on the desk he unfolded the pages and looked at the first then quickly at the second and back to the first. His face darkened and he looked up at Mitchell, his eyes flashing. "What sort of joke is this Mitchell? You had best not try my patience, I am not a pleasant man when angered." "I don't understand what you mean sir, what's the matter. The letter speaks for itself, it proposes the use of bioweapons on your country, I don't see that as a joke," Mitchell said with great concern, sweat breaking out on forehead and under his arms. "Please point out the part that talks about bioweapons on these pages," the General said, throwing the blank sheets across the desk at Mitchell. The sheets fluttered to the floor in front of Mitchell, he leaned forward in the wooden chair and picked up one of the pages. Leaning back he looked at the first sheet, turning it over in his hand, it was blank! He scrambled to retrieve the second page, it was blank as well. He was stunned. What the bloody hell was going on, he had just seen the letter, where did these blank pages come rom and where was the real letter, his mind was spinning, it was like he couldn't think. He kept turning the sheets over and over as thought he words would appear if he just looked hard enough. Suddenly it dawned on him what he had in his hand - the fucking dummy letter, the one that he had put in the post-office box in Melbourne. He was relieved for a moment, he had obviously picked up the wrong envelope, he reached quickly into his inside jacket pocket, it was empty. Suddenly he felt ice in this stomach and his bowels tighten, he had never retrieved the dummy letter, as far as he knew it was still in Melbourne. He had just looked at the letter he had taken out of his pocket at the hotel and it was the real letter. A terrible thought suddenly sprang into his mind, there was only one explanation, someone had switched the envelopes - but no one knew about the box at the GPO or the letter in his pocket. His mind was still racing, wait! Bloody fucking bitch! She had been at the post office and in his room at the hotel when the letter was in his pocket. That fucking bitch! She must have switched the letters. Bloody hell, she was trying to get his money, he was sure of it. His racing thoughts were suddenly interrupted. "Well Mr. Mitchell do you see anything resembling a threat to my country by the Australians on those pages?" The General's voice was hard as stone. "No sir, these pages are blank. The letter I had in my pocket earlier today has been switched - this is a dummy letter that I made up to lure the Australians away from the real letter, someone switched them this afternoon. I'm sure of it. Believe me this is as much of a surprise to me as it is to you." Mitchell tried to get hold of his nerve, but his voice shook as he spoke, his hands trembling. "My 'surprise' is tempered by the fact that I have invested ten million dollars in these two blank sheets of paper, believe me Mr. Mitchell, my feelings go way beyond 'surprised' - one might almost say supremely angry." The General's eyes had gotten much harder, his lips so tight that they had almost disappeared into a thin line that looked like a razor cut across his face. "So who now has the letter, or is that to be a 'surprise' as well?" "It could only be that bitch Amy Prentiss that was with me when we left Australia. She must have it my suite at the hotel, she couldn't have gotten out of the room. I can go over there and get it from her very quickly sir, believe me." (Amy and Julie slapped hands again - "Get ready for surprise number two Mitchell you scumbag," chortled Julie. As if it had been plan they heard the telephone in the General's office.) The General reached out and snatched up the handset of the telephone. He began speaking in Indonesian, after a few words his head snapped up and he stared at Mitchell, intense anger blazing from his eyes. "Repeat what you just said, in English please, I would like our guest to hear it directly," the General said, hitting the speaker phone button and hanging up the handset. Mitchell felt the ice gripping his stomach clench even harder. He heard the accented voice of the General's man coming over the speaker. "There is no one in this room General, the clerk who let me in told me that Mr. Mitchell has a reservation but has not checked in. There had not been anyone in this room since it was cleaned earlier today, no suitcase, no girl and no guard outside the room. It is empty sir." Mitchell was stunned. Where the bloody hell had the bitch gotten off to? And what happened to the very large man the Sun Lim had put outside of the door? This made no sense whatsoever. "There must be some mistake sir, I left the girl in the room, and there was a guard from Sun Lim right outside of the door when I left. I don't understand it, unless Sun Lim came and got her for some reason." The General spoke to his man at the hotel and told him to get some men over to Sun Lim's compound right away and bring him down to his office - now. He punched off the speaker phone and swiveled it around to face Mitchell. "Get on this telephone right now, call your bank and get me back my money - Now! And while you at it you can also transfer half of the money you got from the Australians to me as well to pay for all my aggravation. Ask them for your current balance." The General had motioned to the guard at the door and he had opened the door and motioned for the other guard to come into the room. ("Strike three and you're out bastard," Amy said gleefully.) Mitchell just stared at the telephone on the desk in front of him. What was happening to him? First the letter disappears, then Amy is missing and now the General wants most of his money - the money he had earned through all this hard work and risk. No letter, no girl, no money. He just sat in the wooden chair, leaning forward his head in his hands. He jumped violently when he heard the General speak in a loud and harsh voice. "Mitchell! Pick up that telephone and get me back my money and do it right now or I swear I will shoot you where you sit!" The General pulled a Colt .45 automatic pistol out of his top desk drawer and resting his hand on the desk pointed it unwaveringly between Mitchell's eyes. Mitchell turned ghost white and stopped breathing. Then, pulling himself together, he reached into his pants pocket and took out the slip of paper with the bank's telephone number. Picking up the handset he quickly punched in the numbers. As the telephone began ringing in the Caymans the General reached out and pushed the speaker phone button, filling the office with the sound of the telephone ringing. A voice with a slight accent of the islands answered the telephone. Mitchell asked for Mr. Butler, but was informed that he had left for the day and could he, Mr. Phillips, help him. Mitchell said that would be fine and gave the man his code number. The man put him on hold as he access the computer, then came back on the line and asked for the password - Mitchell hesitated until he heard the General pull back the hammer on the pistol with a loud click. He hurriedly said "Minator" and the banker on the other end confirmed the password and asked how he could help him. Mitchell said that he wanted to transfer some money to a different account. The banker asked how much he wanted to transfer and Mitchell asked for the current balance. The banker came back and told him that his balance was one thousand, one hundred and sixty four US dollars. Mitchell unconsciously let out a moan, he felt like he was going to black out, it was all gone, gone. The General jumped up from behind his desk and reached over and muted the microphone on the speaker phone. "You find out where the fuck my money went or I will spend the next week making you wish I had shot you between the eyes." He turned the microphone back on. Mitchell asked the banker where the money that had been in the account earlier had been sent and was told that the only information available to someone with that password was the current balance - which he had just been given. The General had taken his seat behind his desk again, and gestured for Mitchell to hang up the phone, which Mitchell did immediately. The General sat back in his chair and seemed to be struggling to get control of himself. "Well, a few minutes ago I began to suspect that Sun Lim had taken your letter as well as your woman. I could not figure out why he would take that chance, unless he had a better buyer for the letter. Now I understand his actions, he got access to your money as well and has cleaned you out. So now he has your letter, your woman and your money - and mine." He sat staring off into space then he began speaking again quietly, almost as though he were speaking to himself. "I don't think my men will find him at his house, I'm sure he has left the country by now - I should check on his Gulfstream. I'll take his property of course, so I might not lose too much if the old man didn't have enough time to clean out the art work and furniture. Sooner or later he will have to deal with me on the letter. Of course there is the problem of what to do with you." he said, turning to glare at Mitchell, his voice getting hard as stone. "I certainly cannot allow you to steal ten million dollars from me and just walk away, it would set such a bad example. Besides I'm not totally sure that you really don't know where the old man went, I have a suspicion that the two of you are in this together, maybe with the woman. I guess I will just have to take a few days and find out, some of my associates are quite good at convincing someone to be - shall we say "completely open and honest" ? He looked over at the two guards standing inside the door and made a subtle motion with his head toward Mitchell. The guard moved quietly over to the chair in which Mitchell was sitting. Mitchell sat in the chair staring straight forward, he had moved into some detached place in his mind, he was vaguely aware the someone had said that Sun Lim had taken his money, but he wasn't sure who said it, or what money they meant. He didn't notice the two men coming alongside of the chair until they had reached out and fastened his wrists to the arms of the chair with narrow leather belts they took from their pockets. The General walked around to the front of the desk and leaned his hips back on it looking down at Mitchell with interest. He noticed the vacant look in his eyes. He looked over at the guard standing on the right of Mitchell. "I think we should start with the little finger on the right hand, just to sort of snap Mr. Mitchell back to reality. It is amazing how pain focuses the mind on the problem at hand." He nodded to the guard. The guard reached down and grasped the little finger on Mitchell's right hand, the other guard braced his weight on the back of the chair as the first guard pulled the finger back quickly, a loud snap filling the room. A second later Mitchell screamed. ("That's for that poor, lonely girl you stuffed in the dump bin in Canberra you bastard," Jim said out loud in the car.) "Wait, before we go any further take those lovely cuff links off his wrist, and hand them to me, I think I will keep them for a little souvenir, we wouldn't want them to get all messy if we have to start removing the fingers as well," the General said with a smug expression on his face, looking down at the sobbing man in the chair. Jim and the girls heard the microphones click off, one after the other as the guards straightened out the stems of the cuff links to remove them from Mitchell's cuffs, turning them off. "Well I guess the show is over team," Marv said over the sat link in the car. "You guys might as well get to the airport and head out to Sydney. I'll get Marie working on a flight for you." "Marv, Thomas here. If you don't mind I will arrange an executive charter for them, I think they need to be out of the country as quickly and unobtrusively as possible - and we did make a little money today, so we can afford to be a bit extravagant." Thomas turned and looked over his shoulder, winking at the girls as he started the car. "You're absolutely right Thomas, and rest assured a part of that money will be yours as a bonus for getting everything so well set up." Marv sounded relieved and proud at the same time. Thomas started the car and drove off toward the small private airport where Amy had landed earlier in the day. They all agreed that this was the best possible outcome, the letter was gone and Mitchell was not likely to cause any additional trouble. Thomas added that he doubted that Mitchell would survive the interrogation, once the General was convinced that he knew nothing of importance he would just shoot him. He added that there were two unanticipated benefits to the operation. "First of all we got rid of Sun Lim, who was a blight on my country with this sex and drug business of his. Secondly, and probably most important, if the General keeps the cuff links and wears them often, we will have a very important source of intelligence - particularly for the Australians, looks like they are more than getting their money's worth." "What about that other eleven hundred and sixty four dollars in the account, do we get that too?" Julie asked Jim a serious look on her face. For a split second everyone just sat there looking at her in stunned silence, then everyone burst into laughter, including Thomas. After a moment Julie joined in as thought her remark had been a joke. Amy was just shaking her head as she laughed, she knew that Julie had been completely serious. Less than an hour later the three of them were comfortably seated the soft leather chairs on the executive jet heading towards into the darkening sky for Sydney. Jim reached over and refilled their champagne glasses. "I'm just glad this is over you two. There was way too much excitement for an old software guy like me. I'm just looking forward to a nice quiet sail back to Hawaii." He leaned back in his chair with a contented sigh. "What makes you think that Julie and I are going to let you rest on the sail back mister? We need some serious loving after these long weeks of deprivation. Remember you have two teen age girls to keep happy, so forget that rest shit," Amy said as she and Julie both started laughing. Amy looked up toward the closed door to the flight deck and stood up and walked behind Jim's chair, reaching down and massaging his large shoulders, his head leaning back between her large breasts. She got a mischievous look on her beautiful face and looked over at Julie. "You know what Julie, Marie told me about a thing that she heard some pilots at the Malibu airport talking about, she called it the Mile High Club -something about sex above five thousand feet, I think we might want to become members - after all, how often will we have our own jet and a willing man?" Epilogue The Present - Hawaii Jim put his coffee cup down on the glass-topped table and came into his room from the balcony that overlooked Kuhio Beach on Waikiki. The view from his thirty-ninth floor room was magnificent. He could see miles of Oahu beach in both directions, the jutting shape of Diamond Head on his left. It was a beautiful Hawaiian morning, a few soft white puffy clouds in a clear blue sky casting dark shadows on the blue-green ocean. People were already moving on to the beach, staking out their spots even though it was still just eight am. A large white and blue cruise ship was moving majestically out of the port. He could hear music from where Julie and Amy were in the bathroom in the adjoining bedroom room getting ready. They all slept together in the king-sized bed in his room, but he refused to share a bathroom with his two teenage daughters - especially after doing it on Pappallion for the past several weeks on the sail up from Sydney. Validating the wisdom of the ages he had learned that two females getting "beautiful" in a small space was no place for any male. They had checked into the Hyatt - Waikiki hours after tying the boat up at the Ala Wai Yacht Harbor down off Holomoana Boulevard. The boat was wonderful but showers with unlimited water, a bed that didn't move and his own bathroom was an overwhelming temptation. Plus the Hyatt was in the middle of over a hundred high end shops and boutiques - both girls, but especially Julie, were suffering from shopping deprivation. That was the rush this morning, the girls wanted to finish up with breakfast and get to shopping. Jim was insisting that first, they check in via the communication suite in Pappallion with Marv and Thomas in Jakarta - Sun Lim was still missing but recently the transmissions from the General (via Marv's cuff link microphones) indicated that he had been approached by Sun Lim through an intermediary. Jim heard the CD player in the adjoining room stop and Julie and Amy came through the door into his room. He had to admit it, they were beautiful - the seeming disorganization in the bathroom always resulted in two lovely, poised young women - amazing, he thought. Amy was wearing a pair of white shorts and a light green tank top that stretched tightly across her large breasts. She had a touch of lip gloss on and her long reddish brown hair was pulled behind her head in a long, thick braid that hung down her back, almost touching the waistband of her shorts. Julie was still fluffing her short white-blond hair as she followed Amy into the room. She was wearing a khaki colored "skort" ( shorts with a wraparound flap on the front that made them look like a skirt from the front) Jim thought they were a bit strange, but he had learned not to make negative comments about style or fashion - they ignored him anyway. She had on a light blue tee-top with short cap sleeves that matched the icy blue of her eyes. They both looked just great he thought. He could feel his prick stirring in his pants - even thought he had sex with both of them last light, and a great morning quickie with Julie while Amy was in the shower - although he wasn't completely sure that Julie was totally awake. "Come on girls, let's get to the Regency Club and get some breakfast. I starved - Julie gave me an appetite this morning, taking advantage me when I was still sleepy and defenseless," Jim laughed. "Me?" Julie said. "I was sound asleep when some man stuck his dick up me from behind and filled me full of sticky white stuff." Julie stood there, hands on her hips, looking stern. She couldn't keep a straight face though, and broke into giggles - Amy joining her. "I don't think you minded 'being taken advantage of' too much Daddy. Besides, I can't believe that Julie would voluntarily wake up for any reason, including sex with you - wonderful as it is." They walked down the hall to the Regency Club lounge where fruit, pastries and yogurt were placed out on a buffet type of breakfast. Fresh squeezed juices and wonderful Kona coffee were also offered by the courteous staff. All three of them loaded up on the fresh fruit, that was one of the things they missed most on the sail up from Australia. The coffee was a pleasant change from the coffee they had brought aboard from Australia too - Jim and Amy complained about it the whole trip, Julie had gotten just before they left on sale at the wharf provisioning store. As they were finishing up the breakfast Jim asked the concierge on duty at the Club to get them a cab to take them to the slip where Pappallion was berthed. Fifteen minutes later they were unlocking the main salon door and turning on the sat com (satellite communications) equipment to call Thomas in Jakarta. They made contact with him immediately, he was still in his office. He told them that Marv need to talk with them as soon as possible, but he just wanted to let them know that it appeared that Sun Lim had been making tentative gestures toward the General to get back to town and get his compound and house back. Thomas doubted that it would work, not unless Sun Lim was willing to pay the General the ten million he had lost plus offer him something pretty special as well for the insult. He told them that he would keep an eye on the situation and that the cuff links were providing him with invaluable information on the General's movements and plans. He said he was giving selected summaries to the Australians, but controlling the source of the information himself. Jim signed off and contacted the mountain-top house in California. Both Marv and Marie were on the line almost immediately. "Jim, I'm really glad you called us, we have a serious problem back here." "What's going on Marv, I thought things were quiet in the office - at least they were yesterday when we talked." "I got a panicked call from Dick Brower last night. Do you remember him? He was DCI (Director, Central Intelligence) when Marie and I came out here, in fact he was the one that gave us this place. He's retired now, of course, and living up in Oregon - outside of Portland. He wanted to be close to his daughter and granddaughter, they're the only family he has left now since his wife died a few years ago. Anyway, to make the story short, his grand daughter is missing and he's frantic." "What is it? Political or financial? Has he received a ransom note or anything?" Jim knew that this must be terribly hard for Marv since it had to bring up all the old memories surrounding Marie's kidnapping while he worked for Brower. "It's a lot more complicated than that. She disappeared on a chartered school bus full of twelve to fourteen year old girls that were a part of the Miss Junior Teen Northwest contest. Forty of them, and three sponsors, just vanished from the face of the earth yesterday morning. The police and FBI are currently clueless according to Brower. He called me and pleaded for me to go to work on it. The man was in tears Jim, he is just destroyed by the thought of what may be happening to his little Lisa." Marv's voice was shaking as well as he spoke. "What do you want us to do Marv? You know you have only to ask." "Just come back as soon as possible and let's see if we can get some information that can find Lisa and those other girls. Grab a plane to LAX and I'll have someone pick you up. Hurry Jim, we really need you and the girls right away." "Hang in there guys, we will be there by tonight. All we have to do is pack a few clothes and have Marie get us a flight.." Jim turned and looked at Amy and Julie sitting next to him in the salon. They both looked back at him with determined looks on their faces. He guessed the vacation was over.
