For Rebecca -~Becky - Peterson life is hollow, raised in conservative religious family is endless of nothingness till the day she met Tamsin -~Tam - LeMaire, a free spirit senior. Becky -s controlled life and Tam -s unpredictable mind are like water and oil, they are opposite sites of mirror, sharing no common but their passion of each other. Mysterious and exciting, Becky drawn to Tam more and more, but she is more than Becky -s eyes can see. Tam has many secrets Becky didn -t know, some that she never dare to know, the one that including her and her family being witches. message = I spent 16 years of my life exactly the same formula, predictable girl I would say. I did everything I was told to do. That means, as I was raised in strictly religious family, I went to church every Sunday since I could remember. It was my pleasure to follow whatever my parents told me to do, I was raised that way, to obey them at all cost. I couldn -t hold myself against their condemnation, I stressed every time I talked to them fearing to do something wrong so I did whatever to avoid it. Becky! -? my mom whispered as she nudged me What are you doing? Everybody chant -? Sorry mom -? I told her and continuing chanted. It had been better, sitting on a bench thinking of nothing but chant. I got tired of it as years passed by. I could concentrate less and less, I absentminded a lot and got complain by my parents a lot too. It made me feel bad. I even confessed about it but things didn -t get better. Am I losing my faith? That thought made me scared. Religion was so importance for my family, most importance indeed. I couldn -t imagine how much my parents would disappoint if I wasn -t a good Christian. After church we went to Bowen -s restaurant as usual. This was the second restaurant we went to after church in my life time, the first had been Crimi -s which had been closed 4 years ago as the owner passed away. I ordered grilled chicken as usual, who could say I wasn -t a routine girl since I ordered it countless time in a row. It was just another fine holy Sunday, things went as it should be just as she stepped in. She had hazel eyes and thick eyebrows which curve perfectly on her oval face. Her dark brown hair, almost black, was loosen tied on her shoulder. Her light tan skin shined under the sun like gold. Pink thin lips were free form lipstick, she wear no make up but her beauty was remarkable, all naturally of cause. She suddenly turned to me and smiled. I faced another way in a blink, pretending to be nothing happened, blushing. I bended my head for God know how long, my brain numbed but when I finally had courage to look up, she disappeared. It was so weird. It was like I may had seen her somewhere before but I couldn -t remember, like may be we walked pass each other or something like that, like dejavu. Becky! -? called mom. Yes, mom -? I called you three times. You are absentminded again. You did much lately. What -s the matter? -? S --s --sorry. I -m thinking. What did you say? -? I stammered. I stammered a bit especially when I talked to my parents. Not me, your dad -? Oh! W --what dad? -? I asked you How about your school? -? Fine. It -s all great -? With friends? -? They are magnificent -? I replied, as if I had one. I had no friend, not a real one who I could chat with for hours. I had tried to make friend with another girl but it didn -t work, like I wasn -t click into anybody. Oh! I lied again. I wanted a confession. May be you could invite them to sleepover -? so you can inspect them, I thought Last time was like --4 years ago -? 6 -- -? my mom corrected When she was 4th grade -? I --It -s not what we -re doing anymore -? I said sleepover things are too old fashion -? Non sense -? he closed our conversation. He was always right and I was always wrong. If he said it non sense, it was, case closed. The last time I had classmates came to sleepover was long time ago, and I had done it because my mom told me to do. And of cause all the guests were qualified by her. I concentrated on every world they say all the time of lunch. I got two complains already and didn -t want one more. And there she was, the mysterious girl walked toward the way she had came holding a glossaries paper bag. Our eyes met again as she passed along. She smiled and did what I didn -t dare to think she would do, she waved at me. Your friend? -? mom asked, saw what have just happen. No. I don -t know her -? I said, my face reddened. But she greet you -? Yes. I don -t know why but I really don -t know her -? She was such a mysterious. *** *** *** Monday morning, I went to school on passenger seat of my mom -s car. I was 16 already and had passed driving ED but my parents refused to let me drive or bought me a car. -~Driving at 16 is a failing of this country - they reasoned -~You are ways too young to dive, may be 18 - I wasn -t stupid enough to argue. I waved to a boy in my class as he greeted me. I was neither popular nor outcast, so everybody recognized me just as another student. Some may didn -t even remember my name. A plain blonde with nothing interested. That was me. Hey Becky! -? Dani called my name. She was a sophomore class president but unlike Hollywood clichÃ(C) mean airhead blonde cheerleader class president, she was very kind and polite, that -s why she was elected, she got my vote too How -s your weekend? -? Great -? I had pool party at Greg house -? she said referring to her boyfriend who as good as Dani herself. It didn -t like she was boasting or something just telling me about her wild weekend. She even invited me but my dad not allowed me to, the only kind of party he would let me go must be book club meeting. Good on you -? I said as Dani spotted another girl she wanted to share her news with, she said bye to me and started toward her. Dani was good to me but she wasn -t my friend. I had no friend. My first period today was chemistry, I walked to my locker to pick a book, just as I saw her, a mysterious girl was chatting with her friends at the far end of hallway. She smiled a gorgeous smile as usual, well --like I had seen much, is she attend my school? Why I -ve never seen her before? And what do you think I would do. Go to talk to her? No, I wasn -t. I hid. I hid at the corner of a row of lockers, my heart beat like a quickened samba. What -s wrong with me? Why am I acting so weird? I poked my head out of the corner, tried to spying on her whereabouts then --BOOM --there she was, right in front of me. Her hair looked the same as yesterday, wearing black jacket over multicolor T-shirt. Hello cutie -? she grinned. I was all blushful. My knees weakened. What am I suppose to do? Did she saw me acted like a pathetic psycho stalker? H --h --hi -? I stammered then there was pause, silent for minutes. I stared at my toes, didn -t know what to do or what to say. Are you mute? Can you talk? -? she said with giggle. Y --yes -? I nodded dumbly. You must have great flexibility to pose like that -? she said as I still leaned out of the corner. I moved back nervously and stood still. You are funny, you know? -? A --am I? -? Certainly -? she laughed anyway, I -m Tam --Tamsin LeMaire -? I looked at her eyes like I was spelled. Those pair of eyes was so wide and so shiny. Hello! Don -t you have name? -? she waved just in front of my face. Oh! Sorry. I -m Becky -? Wanna chitchat more but I have a class, killer math class to die for. See ya! -? She walked off by hopping on each leg energetically. I gathered all my courage to call her Hey! Wait! -? Yes! -? Why did you do that? -? I did what? -? At restaurant, you smiled and waved at me -? Why not? You are so cute. I like pretty person -? she grinned cunningly. My jaw dropped open, couldn -t believe what she had just said. *** *** *** I investigated more about this Tamsin LeMaire (there was no secret in high school) She was a senior and she was just like me, neither popular nor outcast, just another student body. I had no clue why I had never seen her in freshman year. Might be because she turned right and I turned left so we never met in middle. But not anymore, I saw her in hallway twice that morning and at cafeteria at lunch period, and once after lunch. It was obviously that I had a lot of chances to see her. How could I not recognize her for so long? Any plan this evening, Becky? -? asked Dani. Nope -? We will go to skate, wanna join? -? That -s sound great. How many people go there? -? 8 --10 --I -m not sure -? Count me in then -? so I called my mom told her where I would go. OK but be home before dinner -? mom ordered, late for dinner was the most lethal crime for my family --or I can pick you up at rink -? Rather not. I will ask my friends a ride home. There are buses anyway -? OK. Do what you want but dinner serves at 7, don -t be late -? Thanks mom, I love you -? I put myself on back seat of Greg -s, Dani -s boyfriend, car going to the rink. It must be good if I only could drive. What it feels like to have freedom to go wherever you want? I couldn -t imagine. I rented a pair of skates from renting counter. I was quite good on skate. My parent had sent me to figure skate class since I was young. I dropped it not much later. I skated alone in the corner of the rink. A bunch of friends I tagged along with were spread around, two best friends there, boyfriend and girlfriend there. There -re more like someone I know, not a friend. I didn -t really know them, what do they like? What do they hate? I had no clue. Alone huh? -? the voice was so close. I startled. Tam was on the other side of fence, resting her upper body on the top of it. You scared me! -? My bad -? she raised her both hand in surrender gesture. You have to stop pop up from nowhere or you will make me heart attack -? I said as Tam laughed Why we met so much today? Are you following me? -? That -s a good one -? she giggled No, I -m not. I -m here with my friends then I saw you. But that -s good idea, may be I should start planning to stab your back -? My jaw dropped open, shocked. OK. I know that wasn -t a good joke. Sounds like a serial killer huh? What a terrible humorist am I? Not like you -? said Tam as she shrugged her shoulder. Am I that funny? -? my face reddened. Are you joking? I can -t stop laughing around you -? I -m not a clown -? Tam giggled again then said See? You -re so funny. You make my eyes tear -? My face reddened even more. Is she mocking me? I don -t think so. I saw sincerity in her beautiful eyes, so she really thought I was funny. I never look myself that way before, I was sure I -m a boring one. Then tell me Becky girl, why you are here all alone in an ice rink with hundred people -? said Tam, grinned strangely as if she tried to hold back smile. You are alone too -? I -m not alone. I -m with you -? Well -? I raised my eyebrows --in that circumstance, I -m not alone as well -? Ha! -? she burst --you smart mouth, not surprising me cause you look smart too -? A surprising compliment made me blush. Tam had strange way of conversation, in a good way I meant, if I talked to my parents like that I will get condemned about being rude for sure. But I didn -t feel insulted at all. Mmm thanks! -? Anyway would you mind skating with me? -? Me? -? I said, pointing myself --you want to skate with me? -? Well as my eyes can see, you have no interested to join with those bubble heads, neither do I, so -- -? OK -? I said, interrupting her go get your skates -? Tam smiled delightfully and started toward a renting counter then came back with white skates. She skated in circle just as she stumbled. I gave her a hand to help her up. She smiled widely, it was the most adorable smile I ever seen. Her teeth were so perfectly positioned and so shine You -re lack of practice -? Never indeed -? You never skate before? -? I asked as she nodded. My first time -? she reached out for help, I held her hand then she pulled me so hard! Suddenly I kissed an ice surface. Och! -? screamed me. Gotcha! -? Tam said as she stuck her tongue out, skating around me happily. My eyes watered as my forehead starting to hurt. My mouth blooded. I -ll help if you promise no payback...ohmigod -? she screamed when she saw what she had just done You hurt? -? I gave her a look, dirtiest look I could do. I -m sorry Becky sooo sorry. I don -t mean to hurt you -? she caressed my left cheek hysterically. Yeah --you didn -t -? I said ironically as I jerked her hands away angrily. Sorry. I just try to make you laugh -? What happened? -? popped Greg, Dini -s boyfriend --and who are you? -? I know her. I -m fine, just stumbling -? I said as I stood up. I looked at Tam, she was so panicked I wanna go home -? But we -ve just came here -? You guys stay. I can call my mom to pick me up -? with thousand of words, I thought. Why you -re so remiss? I won -t allow when you ask to come here next time. That -s my mom. I can drive you -? Tam offered PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE -? You came with your friend so stay with them. I -M FINE! -? I told her as I walked off to get my cell and called my mom. *** *** *** Just like I expected, mom complained me all the time we drove home. And my dad made it worst by brought up a topic about a place like that would lead to drug and sex, so I was unofficially forbidden to go to skate for months until they forgot about this. The next morning when I got to school Tam was waiting me at front porch. I had been thinking all night that I was so bitchy with her. Yes, she made me fall but I acted like she broke my ribs and of cause she didn -t mean it. Becky, I want to apologize about yesterday. I -m such a fool, fucking moron silly fool -? she said guiltily. Don -t be, I -m alright -? But -- -? I -m really fine. Listen to me Tam, I don -t mad at you. I know it was an accident, you didn -t mean to hurt me -? So you forgive me -? she blinked, looked so dazing. Yeah --I guess -? I nodded. Wooohooo -? she screamed, jumping around and hugged me from behind holding me up You -re not mad at me. Becky not mad at me. YAY! -? Tam let me go! This is in front of whole school -? I pulled her arm off my waist You embarrassed me -? My bad -? Tam smiled as she let me go --so, you not mad at me then that mean --we are friend now? -? Yeah, friend -? I nodded. She screamed in joy.
