Shame in me

Things I've done that I can't say
A wind that never blows my way
But I don't worry, I can't see
I've got these precious memories

A pretty girl with hair like flames
And bones that grew, and eyes that maimed
My soul so tortured when she came
And went away without her name

Got cigarettes to keep me calm
And photographs to keep me warm
And in this world when all is right
I'll see her in a different sight

I'm blind to love I hear them say
That's why the wind will never stay
Behind my back where hurt belongs
My life so coarse, my love so gone

And then I can remember her
With Crimson hair and eyes so soft
And hands that touched no other kind
And practically could drown in mine

And in my cage they'll let me sit
And they don't know I won't forget
How love will feel when I'm away
And when I'll never hear them say

"He can never pay his dues
He don't deserve what he once knew
And when the judgement day is near
Then god will strike into him fear"

Our spirits intertwined as one
When man is king of kingdom come
That's when I'll see her when I can
Above cruel, judging eyes of man
