   New Eden 10000 A.D., ch 1: History

   Written by The Worshipper



   History As Prologue



   After 10000 long years of growth, enlightenment and technological
advances, any traces of guilt related to sexuality were long gone. 
Historians (and the occasional regular citizen) who happened to browse
through the holographic historical data archives were often amused at the
incredible extent to which human society was repressed in all matters
relating to sexuality in the first 3000 years or so of recorded history
(i.e., going by the Roman calendar).  It was late in the 20th century
before "pornography" even became tolerated by the majority of the public.
And the word 'tolerated' was chosen carefully, as centuries after that
there still existed significant percentages of the population that, due to
moral and religious brainwashing, persisted in convincing themselves that
sexuality was something to be embarrassed about and, most sadly, denied
both to themselves and to others.



   Of course, one almost couldn't blame them, considering the long climb
out of ignorance-in-general during the first 2 millennia, coupled with the
real, and nasty, consequences for sexual activity that did in fact plague
the human race for most of that time.



   First of all, who could fault the kind of intellectual immaturity that
existed in the first 1500 years or so, given the fact that the earth itself
was thought of as being flat; the physical universe was still a mystery,
much less the workings of the human body.  In that kind of atmosphere
(i.e., an extreme deficit of knowledge) the various formal religions could
not help but take hold, as they purported to "explain" life, the universe
and everything with the help of various fables and supernatural beings. 
And of course one of the main precepts of most of those religions was a
denial of the fundamental sexual nature of human beings.  Besides the
practical side of suppressing sexuality in terms of preventing unwanted
pregnancies and sexually-transmitted diseases, religions seemed to want to
reinforce the supposed superiority of human beings over all other mere
"animal" forms of life by denying any "animal-like" behavior.  At least
where sexual activity was concerned, anyway; curiously enough, there seemed
to be plenty of allowance for animal-like behavior when it came to such
"noble" pursuits as violence and killing in the name of war (and religion
itself).



   But then that ethos (war and warmaking and warrior-ness) was part and
parcel of the macho psychosis that affected the male half of the species
well past the 20th century.  Indeed, it took another thousand years for
actual war (and killing of any kind for any reason) to fade out and become
a distant memory.  Helped, of course, by what eventually proved to be the
REAL savior of the human race - technology.



   The pace of technological advances that began accelerating wildly in the
20th century actually continued for several centuries, then slowed down
significantly (although it has, of course, continued at a slow but steady
pace ever since).  But in the thousand years between 2000 and 3000, most of
the fundamental scientific, technical and medical discoveries needed to
"transform" the human race, in every way - physically, mentally,
psychologically - were made.  In fits and starts, however, as many advances
were met with (you guessed it) moral and religious objections; in some
cases research and invention would be interrupted for decades.  In other
cases, centuries.  But eventually, either by covert means or after an
agonizingly slow evolution of acceptance, the technologies became perfected
and deployed.



   The first major advance was sophisticated gene manipulation to eliminate
hereditary diseases and birth defects, followed by several centuries in
which, in addition to those things, the use of genetics to choose the
physical characteristics of one's offspring became an accepted practice. 
As the horrors of the 20th century receded into the distant past, and as
conventional religion began to release its stronghold on society, an
ever-increasing segment of the population realized the simple truth that it
is better to have healthy, good-looking children than unhealthy and/or ugly
ones - and that it was actually achievable by the simple application of
mature, advanced technologies.



   Perhaps a quick detour on the subject of "good-looking" vs.  "ugly" is
in order...  For centuries one of the arguments in opposition of gene
manipulation (not only because of the more intense religious issues, or the
fear of "Master Race" syndrome as a result of the Nazi atrocities in the
20th century) was that affecting physical attributes of offspring such as
appearance (in the positive direction) would lead to a "dull" population as
far as physical characteristics are concerned.  In other words, why,
EVERYone would look like a model!  Egads, wouldn't that be boring?  Well,
wouldn't it?



   Of course, as it turned out, if there ever were a "red herring"
argument, that one didn't take long to be baited, hooked, reeled in and
deep-fried.  Attractive is attractive.  Sex appeal is sex appeal. 
Biological attraction based on unconscious recognition of genetic quality
is...  well, you get the picture.  And the idea that there needs to be some
unattractive people in a room with a bunch of attractive people, in order
to be able to recognize that the attractive people are in fact
attractive... Well, it didn't take long to disprove that silliness.



   The second major scientific/technological advance during the 2000-3000
millennium was the near-elimination of disease.  Genetics, microbiology and
nanotechnology combined to finally conquer all known diseases, and to
eliminate any new ones that appeared in short order.  All manner of
"NanoBiots" were created, which could by themselves, or along with the
body's biological defenses, defeat any disease.  Cancer, HIV/AIDS, Multiple
Sclerosis, Parkinson's, Alzheimer's, you name it, all gone.  And, as a
by-product of the "extreme" good health, along with NanoBiots that were
engineered specifically to battle and suppress cell oxidation and the
effects of aging, human lifespan had been extended to more than twice what
it was before.  The physical vigor and appearance that previously was
limited to one's 20's and 30's lasted almost to age 100, followed by a
"middle age" that extended to approximately 150.  (All, of course, with a
society-wide ethos of exercise and healthy nutrition refined through
millennia of education and effort, as well as an ecological orientation
that had completely shifted from one of rapacious growth and destruction of
the environment, to 100% recycling, sustainability and lack of pollutants
and toxic chemicals.)



   In addition, mental and emotional diseases, many of which had been
tracked down to biological causes, had been all but eliminated, meaning a
near-100% healthy society from a mental and psychological standpoint as
well.  Violence and irrational behavior almost disappeared.



   AND of course (and most importantly with respect to the current
conversation), ALL sexually-transmitted diseases had been completely
eliminated.



   The third advance was the complete and utter control of reproduction. 
"The pill" evolved ten-fold in sophistication and function; it became 100%
effective, with absolutely no side-effects.  A woman had only to take a
pill once a month and pregnancy would not occur.  And even if pregnancy
occurred while NOT on the pill (detectable almost immediately with advanced
yet simple tests), there was another pill that quickly, easily and
painlessly terminated the pregnancy within the first couple of months.



   It took a good 500 years, but by the middle of the milennia(again, due
in good measure to the decline of formal religions) the logic that bringing
an unwanted child into the world was worse than painlessly terminating a
pregnancy early on, was finally accepted.  Along with the other side of the
coin (which declined in importance as an issue due to the effectiveness of
the before-and-after pills anyway), settling on the complete illegality of
physical abortion AFTER the first trimester.



   Of course, a woman could choose to have the child anyway.  The point
being, that there was universal acknowledgment of CHOICE.  And, either
decision carried no stigma whatsoever.  And if a child WAS born and the
mother did not want to raise the child herself, THAT was not as much of a
problem given the radical transformation that raising and educating
children itself had undergone - truly becoming the embodiment of the "it
takes a village" maxim, in which every single child was looked upon as a
precious being by EVERY SINGLE ADULT in the society, and given much more
guidance and attention by EVERY SINGLE ADULT in each community - and indeed
there was much more time to do so, given the next and final advance to be
discussed...



   That advance, the fourth major advance (and we're only mentioning the
"major" advances; there were many others of lesser impact during the
millennium), strictly technological in nature but achieving just as
fundamental change in human behavior as the first three, was the perfection
of robotics.



   Once the mechanical and mental capabilities of robots advanced past a
certain point, they were able to finally free human beings from the muck of
evolution.  In other words, physical "labor" (by human beings) became a
thing of the past.  Any "job" that one could think of, which required
someone to do "work" (where work is defined as something someone HAS to do
rather than what they WANT to do), could then be done by a robot.  Of
course all human beings had a choice, to do anything they wanted to do
(including "work"), but after a few hundred years of this level of robotic
capability, the vast majority of the population had embraced it
enthusiastically.  The fundamental nature of human society changed, from
one in which 99 percent of the population performed back-breaking and/or
mind-numbing work simply in order to survive, to one in which 99 percent of
the population spent their lifetimes pursuing intellectual (including
further scientific and technological development), artistic and physical
gratification.



   And the "Battlestar Galactica" scenario, you might ask?  That was truly
just science fiction (with emphasis on the "fiction")...  The fears and/or
situations dramatized in such TV shows as BSG, or movies like AI or
Bicentennial Man were never realized.  Contrary to popular belief,
mechanical, electronic "brains" were simply not capable of somehow
"evolving" self-awareness or sentience of any kind.  Robots were just
machines that were programmed by human beings to behave exactly as human
beings wanted them to, and a conscious decision was made by the human race
not to even try to make robots resemble real human beings by covering them
with synthetic or biologically-based skins.  Therefore humans were humans,
and machines were machines, and never would the two meet, or merge, or be
confused.  (After all, if machines truly were incapable of sentience, what
would be the point?) Now, those who were perhaps misguided enough to
actually want some kind of apocalyptic Armageddon between humans and
artificial lifeforms to occur, like in the various movie and TV dramas,
were sorely disappointed; whereas the vast majority of the human race was
perfectly content (relieved, actually) to NOT have anything of that nature
occur, or even be possible!



   So where was human society approaching the year 3000?  All of the
barriers to the free and easy exercise of sexuality had been removed, and
there was a complete lack of guilt as to its activity, No worry of disease.
No worry to speak of concerning pregnancy.  No problem being attractive to
the opposite sex (just about everyone WAS).  All the time you wanted to
pursue whatever it was you wanted to pursue, without worrying about it
"affecting your job".



   And, quite naturally, what an ever-increasing percentage of the
population chose to do, as the centuries went by through the milleniaof the
3000's and 4000's and 5000's, was to focus on sexual gratification.



   Being one of the most fundamental and urgent biological imperatives of
any living creature (especially males), it made perfect sense for that to
happen.



   And fueled by the smorgasbord of a 99.9% dynamite-looking population
(with, for example, most parents choosing not only good looks in general,
but to also "endow" their daughters with quite large, luscious breasts, and
their sons with big, gorgeous penises); completely freed from the negative
consequences of disease and (unplanned) pregnancy; and freed by robotics
technology to spend ALL of one's time indulging in sexual gratification if
one wanted to, indulge in it they did.



   A notable percentage of the population still engaged in intellectual and
artistic pursuits, although even those individuals spent sizable amounts of
time outside of those pursuits indulging in the pleasures of the flesh.



   But basically, all of human society became one big orgy.  A 21st century
visitor to the milleniaof the 6000's or 7000's would scarcely recognize it
as the Earth, so extensive were the physical and behavioral changes that
had taken place...



   Most of the physical infrastructure was designed to pamper and indulge
the inhabitants of the Earth in their every desire.  Recreation,
entertainment and sports facilities were everywhere one looked - including,
of course, extensive complexes built specifically to accommodate sexual
activities.  Such physical structures, lavishly appointed and luxuriously
furnished, were quickly and easily built using advanced robotics technology
(the work being done by robots themselves), effectively over time
transforming the entire planet to resemble today's adult playgrounds such
as the ritziest areas of Las Vegas, and the biggest and best children's
theme parks like DisneyLand and DisneyWorld (only the small percentage of
the Earth's surface that were devoted to civilization, it should be
emphasized - the vast majority of the planet had been "reclaimed" and
preserved as natural habitat, such as all of the major rain forests, in
order to have a healthy planetary ecology).



   And, sexual acts - between couples and even among groups - were also
commonly conducted in public, and such activity was NOT, as discussed
previously, regarded as inappropriate or indecent or "perverted".  It was
embraced completely, along with the being-in-public consequence of being
observed by children of any age.  (In fact, as we will see later, youth of
younger and younger ages actually began joining in such activity as time
went on - both in private and public...)



   It was truly as close to "utopia" as anyone had ever dared imagine (as
well as being the type of hedonistic sexual playground that would have
exceeded even the imagination of someone like the 20th century's Hugh
Hefner - and that's really saying something!).



   And thus it was that at the beginning of the 9000's, came one more HUGE
technological advance - the discovery (finally) of how to bend space to
effectively travel faster-than-light...  Of course, it had been seriously
worked on several times over the millennia, but had been given up on as
utterly impossible, despite our fantasizing about it in science fiction by
various authors, and TV shows and movies like Star Trek and Star Wars, all
the way back to the 20th century.



   Then, in the first century of the 9000's, Susan Fleming came along - one
of the most brilliant minds in the history of the human race.  On a par,
and even exceeding, the brilliance of Galileo, Newton, Einstein and
Hawking. After a lifetime of effort devoted to both theoretical and
practical physics at a level that no one had ever approached before, she
conceived a totally different kind of mathematics.  The application of that
mathematics to the field of quantum mechanics led to being able to harness
relatively modest amounts of energy (such as the amount produced by nuclear
fission) to fold the fabric of space, followed soon after by inventing the
electromagnetically-based shielding technology that was necessary for
vehicles (and of course, living beings inside those vehicles) to transit
from one fold to another without being ripped apart.  SpaceFold Technology,
it was called.



   In this way, it was possible to travel across huge distances of
interstellar space almost instantly; the only difficulty, which
unfortunately was not surmounted for another hundred years, was how to
precisely control the folding and accurately navigate from one exact,
desired location to another.  But eventually, Susan Fleming's son, Jason
Fleming, solved the remaining problems by carrying on and evolving even
further his mother's new branch of mathematics.  It was Jason himself who
(at age 130 and only a few weeks after his mother's unfortunate, accidental
death in a recreational accident), after proclaiming himself 100 percent
sure of his calculations and unable to find any volunteers for the test
voyage (after decades of previous attempts had tragically stranded many
test pilots around the galaxy), piloted the first "FoldShip" to
successfully navigate from just outside the orbit of the Moon to the
vicinity of a small planet in the Alpha Centauri system, then make a return
jump to the exact starting spot in our solar system.



   The breakthrough allowed mankind to finally realize its dream of
interstellar travel and expanded humanity's stomping grounds past its own
solar system.  Using conventional rocket propulsion, by the end of the
8000's, every available planet and satellite in our own system had been
fully settled with large, vibrant populations, from Venus (Mercury was just
too hot for anything other than a few research stations) to the Moon to
Mars, as well as all of the large satellites of Saturn, Jupiter, Neptune
and Uranus.  Venus and Mars had even been completely terraformed, along
with the generation of oxygen atmospheres, so that on those three planets
life was possible unprotected on the surface.



   After Jason Fleming's first successful FoldShip test in 9190, it only
took a few years for a thriving interstellar travel industry to develop, as
well as actual resettlement activities to begin.  Thousands of star systems
with inhabitable planets were explored, mapped and made available for both
types of endeavors.  Millions of people eagerly took the chance for
adventure and new experiences, as well as permanent changes of scenery to
exotic new star systems and planets - knowing, of course, that travel to
and from (and amongst) those planets was no more involved than flying from
New York to Miami in the 20th century had been.



   By the end of the 9000's, the human race had spent almost 800 years
spreading out among the stars, covering a large part of the galaxy in the
area surrounding Earth (large in an absolute sense; in a relative sense it
was really only about one percent of the entire galaxy).  Curiously enough
(and in stark contrast to the vision of Star Trek), we had not yet
encountered any intelligent alien races (yet everyone expected it to happen
eventually...).  But we HAD found, and settled on, hundreds of Earth-type
planets, all of which had lush vegetation and almost all of which with SOME
higher lifeforms - but none with creatures even comparable in intelligence
to chimpanzees or dolphins on Earth.



   With SpaceFold technology, traveling from Earth to any one of the
planets that had been settled was routine - just a short hop into Earth
orbit on an orbital transfer vehicle (OTV) to one of the numerous
city-sized space stations, then a quick arc on a high-powered FoldShip to
beyond Lunar orbit, then an almost-instantaneous jump to the destination.



   Now, with the human race having had a remarkably homogenized culture
(even across all of the various planets and moons of the solar system) for
several thousand years, and as a consequence of taking all our
science/technology along with us starting at a well-demarcated point in
time (approximately the year 9200), most of the planets settled, initially
resembled Earth a great deal, especially as far as its high-technology
enabled, hedonistic, leisure and pleasure-based nature...



   Interestingly enough, what ended up happening over time, however, was
even more of a "fracture effect", or Balkanization of culture than had
taken place in various parts of the Earth, in various periods of ancient
history - only now on an interstellar scale.  For some reason, many planets
developed not so much a different, but a kind of "specialized" culture, in
which one or more particular aspects of the overall, diverse culture on the
Earth would be exaggerated or emphasized over the others.  By about the
year 9500, this sociological development had been noticed by historians and
cultural anthropologists (both disciplines having become newly-invigorated
areas of study by the interstellar migrations of humanity).  Even though
travel between planets was quick and easy, it was determined that the
psychological impact of the, in reality, immense interstellar distances
produced a kind of "insulating" effect.  And that was combined with the
frequent occurrence of a newly-discovered planet being initially settled by
a group of people with a particular common interest (imagine a group of
19th century Mormons traveling to, and occupying a planet all to themselves
if they had been able to).



   There was even a dozen or so planets which, after having established a
large, thriving population and full transfer and command of all existing
human data archives and technology, decided to cut off most or even all
communication, commerce and travel to/from all other planets - even the
mother planet Earth.  (Even though "emergency" channels of communication
were almost always preserved.) Being otherwise healthy (physically AND
mentally), peaceful, and high-technology societies, and only desiring a
little privacy, those planets were generally given a lot of latitude by the
rest of the settled worlds and not worried about too much.



   BUT...  a couple of planets (as of the year 10000) had actually decided,
in addition to cutting off communication and travel, to actually destroy
all of their inherited Earth data and advanced technology (and suppress the
knowledge thereof from their populations), and revert to primitive
societies similar to Earth circa the 1700's - prior to the Industrial
Revolution.  Interestingly, those developments were frowned upon and even
fretted over; the Administrative Councils of the rest of the planets
actually decided, after much debate, to institute covert surveillance
programs of such "reverted" planets.  After all, given the bloody history
of the human race well into the 2200's, it was decided such surveillance
was a necessary precaution lest such violent and warlike tendencies develop
again on those planets (as it almost certainly would eventually, without
the application of advanced technology such as NanoBiots for medical
technology, for instance).  Which, combined with even one person on that
planet having somehow squirreled away and/or re-accessed advanced data and
technology (including FoldShip capability), might make such a planet, if it
had become a warlike culture, VERY dangerous to the rest of humanity...





   Incest And Sex With Children



   Now, backtracking a couple of milennia from the year 10000...



   Above and beyond the total acceptance of general sexual activity that
took place from the year 3000 to the year 8000, as described previously,
there were a couple of final trends in sexual behavior that began in the
early 8000's.  It is interesting, although probably understandable, that it
took a good 5000 years for these additional trends to even begin developing
in any serious way.



   First, incest.  In the early days of mainstream, commercial pornography
in the 1970's and 80's, there were a handful of depictions of
father/daughter, mother/son and brother/sister incest (not even involving
actors who were actually related - the incest was just acted for the
pornography).  But even that was clamped down on and by the 1990's, laws
were passed to outlaw any such pornographic material (either real OR
simulated incest).  Then there was one very brief attempt by a pair of
sisters in the early 2000's; they tried to openly market themselves as real
sisters doing each other (and were hot, by the way - young, pretty and
sexy), but got shut down after a short time.  Of course it was
understandable why they might have thought it was even possible to try
depicting and marketing actual incest at that point in time; when one
thinks about it, it is obvious that it would have been considered the most
"acceptable", or least-shocking, type of incest (two adult sisters). 
Especially since girl-on-girl pornography had become pervasive and highly
popular since the 1980's.



   But after those brief failed experiments, it would be many millenia
before widespread acceptance of father/daughter, mother/son,
mother/daughter or father/son incest, and even after that, not widely
depicted (not to mention it taking thousands of years for the old laws
regarding the prohibition of incest to become unenforced and eventually
eliminated).  By the early 8000's, incest had become a "niche" sexuality
within erotica, depicting all variations (but always with adult
participants).  By the year 9000 it was regarded by 90% of the population
to be simply another particular turnon for those that were into it, and was
also regularly seen occurring in public displays of sexual activity.



   After the establishment of incest throughout the 8000's as a more
acceptable activity, it also took a couple of thousand years of "parallel"
development, albeit on a much more "underground" basis, for sex with
younger and younger children to start becoming more widely practiced,
accepted, discussed, and recognized.  What was at work was ALL of the
various factors discussed previously: Many thousands of years past the
decline of early human religions; the elimination of disease and pregnancy
concerns; the creation of a "work"-free, pleasure-based hedonistic society
in which the pursuit of sexual gratification was the main activity; AS WELL
AS the gradual acceptance throughout the 8000's and 9000's of the concept
of children engaging in sexual activity in general.



   The only argument against children engaging in sexual activity that
seemed to hold its validity for many milennia was the social consequence,
both in terms of how society would treat (and punish) an involved adult,
and how the child would be regarded and "effectively" punished (by being
MADE to feel guilty for having done something "BAD", as well as having his
parent(s) hauled away to jail).



   This was the only remaining negative argument assuming that the sexual
activity itself was not forced on the child, and that the activity was
(until society stepped in) perceived as fun and/or pleasurable for the
child - noting that this qualification was universally rejected by all
(now-extinct) formal human religions as well as moral dogma up until the
6000's or so.  As reflected in various (mostly underground, but the
occasional mainstream commentary) sources that can be researched, it
finally became accepted throughout the 6000's, after several thousand years
of a society becoming more and more focused on hedonism and sexual
gratification, that children naturally possessed sexual desire.  And then,
after another thousand years or so, that adults could naturally find
children sexually attractive (while still retaining the taboo of adults
ACTING upon those concepts).



   The only remaining barrier was children actually ENGAGING in sexual
activity.  Along with all of the other factors at work from 2000 to 10000
A.D., the breakdown of the incest taboo over the last couple of thousand
years has largely accomplished the removal of that barrier (as well as an
even more sophisticated, mature and tolerant attitude towards all things
sexual in human society of 10000 A.D.  that a resident of the 20th century
would find astounding and perhaps even incomprehensible).



   As the very idea of a father having sex with his own daughter, or a
mother having sex with her son, or of an entire family having sex together
became just another sexual variation throughout the 9000's (between
consenting adults), and sex BETWEEN younger and younger children
(non-related) had been routinely accepted for milennia (not actively
encouraged, but certainly not punished even into the preteen age ranges), a
convergence naturally began to take place.  Even though such activity had
occurred (necessarily, for fear of actual reprisal) in secret in past
millenia, throughout the 9000's more and more instances of adult family
members having sex with underage (still "legally" defined as less than 15,
amazingly enough) children became known.  After having seen actual
depictions of a father and his 15 year old daughter having sex in 3D
holographic erotica videos for a full thousand years, it was hard to shock
a citizen of the year 9500 with the knowledge that the father and 14 year
old daughter down the street were having dynamite consensual sex.  Or the
mother and their 12 year old son.  Or that those kids and even younger ones
were participating in sex parties in the home with their own family, and
orgies with other families.  Not that such activity was actively or
explicitly encouraged or endorsed - it was simply tolerated, without any
repercussions.



   To sum it up, over the last few hundred years of the 9000's, sex with
children just became an "acceptable" activity.  And by the year 10000 A.D.,
after milennia of intellectual and emotional maturation, and acceptance of
sexuality as the wonderful gift of pleasure from the cosmos that all human
beings - regardless of age - should be free to engage in whenever and
however and with WHOMEVER they feel like, the last taboo was finally gone.





   Child Sex Vacation Destinations



   And thus it was that at the beginning of the 10000's, there were
actually a few planets that had evolved into meccas of child sex.  Where
sex with children was not only fully accepted and openly practiced (as it
was on most human-settled planets, except for the handful of planets that
had "regressed" in various ways as discussed previously), but celebrated to
an astonishing level.  Where the initial settlers of those planets had just
happened to have a particular enthusiasm for such activity, and therefore
had invested a huge amount of time and effort establishing societies that
not only focused on child sex for their own pleasure, but welcomed visitors
from any of the other human planets that wanted to take a vacation whose
main theme revolved around sex with children.



   The most spectacular of these planets was New Eden.  The civilization on
