Only Egomaniacs Post Their Fucking E-mail
Dear John,
There is a chronology of my work on the inside of my web page. Just
go to my asstr web page and call up stories1 (it's basically the next page
into the site). There you will see everything I've written, with only my
essays and zines condensed.
You were right about my stories. They are written quickly and then
pretty much sealed in concrete afterwards. I rarely go back to them. Many
of the stories that I've written I've never read. It's a choice of reading old
material and cutting out the odd extra word, or writing something new. I
prefer to just go on, and write something new. But my essays I go over
tediously, all in one night (the night I write them), cutting endlessly until
the verbose rough draft is as clean and concise as I can make it.
It would be hard for me to do a one sentence summary of each story.
Someone wrote to me once asking if I could repost the story about the
girl, the woman, and the man. I thought, "My God, that's basically every
story I've written." Fortunately he said something about a lifeguard and I
was able to pin the story down to Nudie Nursery.
If I did one line summaries I would have a tendency to be humorous.
"Little Brittney falls in love with a 40-year-old man and gets her brains
fucked out," or some such thing. (Wonderful summaries for feminist
haters of my literature, if they exist and are looking to trash it.)
Asstr timing out is a rather significant problem. We should lobby
them to not time us out so quickly. One reader complained to me about
this problem (he couldn't even log on), and at my ftp site I have so many
files that I run the risk of being timed out before I can even retrieve the
entire file list (which is necessary before Fetch will let me post
anything).
I have a secret desire to crash Asstr's server. Not maliciously, it's
the only true repository of my work, but with so much traffic that they
can't handle the load. My thinking is, if Steven King posted something
there, the site would crash. Well, Andrew Roller hopes to achieve the
same effect-- "God damn that fucker crashed our site with his latest
story!"
I posted Sex School 2 (new version) and Sex School 3 the other day. I
didn't write you about it since I was afraid I might be bugging you.
I was going to continue sexgame1 but I sort of like it the way it is.
It makes its point while still leaving the two characters innocently
exploring their sexuality, without getting to any actual sex.
I myself have a master's degree, in political science. I found that a
master's degree (for me, at least), was totally useless. It increased my
unemployability. Most jobs I applied for wanted nothing but a high-school
educated person, so they could exploit him without any complaints from
him. On the other hand, having a Master's without a Phd. meant I couldn't
really expect to get into teaching in a major way, like a university
professor or something.
I know about Jiffy Fulfillment. One of the greatest issues I bought
from them was Tight number 2. The early issues of Tight are really great,
about the first year's worth. Number 2 features Claire Cass innocently
and eagerly showing off her bottom hole!
I never heard of homemade CD roms being sold at online actions. But
some years ago an acquaintance of mine said that the most popular videos
are amateur home made sex videos. I guess it is the reality and
naturalness of the videos that is appealing. God knows, the professionally
made stuff is so soulless, and the women so wooden, that I imagine
amateur videos would be much more appealing. But when I saw Playboy's
Naughty Amateur Home Videos on T.V. recently I must say I felt they were
junk. Grainy, unimaginative, repetitive clips of marginally attractive
people.
Not much in the way of so-called "pornography" appeals to me today.
Perhaps I have simply seen too many magazines or gotten too old. About
the only thing I still enjoy are some old Mayfair magazines with Claire
Cass in them. I look at them when I write my stories, feeling as if I've
somehow become married to them. Maybe that is what marriage is,
finding beauty in something that other people might think of as repetitive
or boring. Claire, despite not being a perfect physical specimen, is
endlessly fascinating to me, even in the photos of her that I've seen
hundreds of times.
