                  Greenpeace warns:  Earth running out of dirt!


         Due to important environmental legislation that was passed to 
protect the wide variety of dirt on our planet, Earth is now in danger of 
running out of dirt.  The following mandatory guidelines must be 
implemented in your community:
         
         DO NOT throw dirt up in the air.  Dirt is a fundamental part of our 
planetÕs heritage and must be kept in the place where nature has put it.
         
         DO NOT allow your children to make mudpies.  This sends the wrong 
message to the next generation.  Children must learn the value of dirt, its 
importance in growing crops and supporting our homes.  Devaluing dirt by 
playing with it is the first step toward waste.

         DO NOT call someone ÒdirtyÓ.  This demeans dirt, one of our planetÕs 
most important resources, second only to water and air.  Always speak of 
dirt in a loving and respectful manner.  If you wish to insult someone, call 
them a Òwhite maleÓ.

         DO recycle dirt at every opportunity.  If you or your children get your 
clothes dirty, donÕt simply wash off the dirt.  Save the dirt that is 
removed in the cleaning process and allow it to dry.  Then, do your best to 
return the dirt to place where it came from.

         SUPPORT policies that protect our dirt.  Join your local dirt 
conservation society.  Patrol your neighborhood to ensure that no dirt is 
being wasted.  Ban construction and other activities that use dirt in a 
destructive manner.

         Only by protecting our precious dirt will we be able to pass this 
important resource on to our children.
