Chapter 11
The five of them only rode the bus to the next stop, then got off and disappeared. What really happened was at the next stop they got off and boarded the shuttle which was parked close by. On the shuttle was the new Security Chief Samantha "Sam" Ito from St Louis. While they had been waiting for the time to be right to leave for "camp", Amy had gone to St Louis and met Sam. They had became friends right from the start; so when Amy asked Sam if she wanted to see how good her CD player worked Sam tried it out right then. The rest was similar to what had happened with John.
Now for the first time everyone was together; Amy made the introductions. After everyone had said hello, the five of them took off for the base. This was Sam's first trip to the base so she was more excited than anyone else. Once they had landed, Sam and Sally was escorted to the MedBay for their exam, to have her communicator installed, and their "quick learning" preformed.
After Sam and Sally were finished in MedBay they joined the rest in Amy's ready room. Now Sam told everyone about herself.
"As Amy told you on the shuttle my name is Samantha, but please call me Sam. I'm 17 years old, I have a black belt in Karate and Taekwondo, before joining you I was a Police Explorer in St Louis. I have been in that program for three years and was one the very few females allowed to do ride-alongs on the night shift. I have qualified as Expert with the 9mm, 12 gauge, and AR16. Also, I was the only Explorer to be allowed to ride-along with the helicopter squad. I've been on my own ever since my parents were killed by a drunk driver 2 years ago. I was able to finish high school early do to my advanced rate of learning, but it sure wasn't as fast as this today. If anyone has any questions please ask, otherwise I'm going to shut my mouth and listen to see what is going on here." Sam said.
Next Sally introduced herself to Sam, "My name is Sally, I'm John's little sister. I'm here because, like Kate, I want to learn how to fly. I may not be good enough for a fighter, but I'm pretty sure I can learn to pilot a shuttle."
"Okay, now that everyone has been introduced; let us get down to the problems we know about. First, the base is still in need of more repairs than AL can have the droids do, so we can all help out there as time and duties permit. Second, the radiation that AL detected on the barge has been taken care of. With Sam's, and her friends, help the barge was stopped by the Coast Guard for 'Routine' inspection. What was found was very interesting; there were two 'suitcase nukes' found on board. These had been stolen from a US military base overseas; only one made it back into US hands. It seems that one of them, the largest, just 'disappeared' as it was. And somehow, that particular package ended up here on the base and is as we speak being intergrated into the power systems. Third, we still have not found the 'First Officer, but AL will be acquiring more of the satellites around Earth, no matter who they belong to, for our purposes. This will greatly increase our ability to scan the whole of Earth without being detected. Last, and this isn't really a problem, Sam has expressed an interest in staying on base permanently. As she explained to me, she is alone and without any family ties, at least in the US. While it might cause some concern for a short time, she will not be missed enough to cause us, or the base, any problems. This will also provide for a safer environment here on base. Sam was brought on board specifically for the position of Chief of Security. She will be giving all of us instruction in self defense and use of hand weapons, as soon as she is familiar with them herself. Now, I'll turn this meeting over to AL for specific assignments and duties for each of us."
Thank you Captain; this is still new to me, being this involved with the assigning of duties and such. AI's don't usually have any say in the running of a ship or base. The Captain has instructed me to come up with what would be the most helpful. Kate and Sally, you will report to the classroom at 0600 to begin "ground school". John, your assignment is at the main Science research center on "B" deck. Jake, you will be in engineering. Amy will be overseeing the Med Bay, Galley, and the refit of the crew quarters. Each of you will need to study the layout of the major areas of this base so that you can find your way in case of emergency. The Captain has said that this would be mandatory, in her words "What if something happened to you, how would we find our way around to do repairs". As senior officers, you would be required to do this anyway. There are guidance panels throughout the ship to show you where you are and how to get where you are going. I will be aiding each of you for the next two solar days to help with this and to instruct you in what needs to done in each department. Sam, I did not forget you, you will be at the armory at 0600 to begin instruction on the weapons availible on board; and to provide a basic layout of what you will require for the self defense classes. Captain that is all that I have at this time, except welcome aboard to the new people.
Jake then said, "I have taken the liberty of researching where each person's quarters are located and will now show Sam, Kate, Sally, and John to yours. Amy and I already know ours as we have used them before. For the time being, we will have to depend on AL's cooking talents for our food. I would suggest that we all meet in the Captain's Mess in about two hours for supper. That is all that I have Amy."
"Does anyone have any questions? If not, then this meeting is over; go find your quarter and get settled in. You will find uniforms in the storage areas in each of your quarters, these will be worn at all times while on base" Amy said.
As there were not any questions, everyone left to find their quarters with Jake showing the way. After the room was empty Amy went to her quarters to bathe and change into her uniform. Sally and Kate would share a room close to the flight deck. Sam would be quartered close to the security center, she did not even know that there was such a place but would become quiet used to it as time went on. John was shown to his quarters which were, for the time being, close to the Science center. After everyone was shown where to go and how to get back to the Captain's Mess, Jake went to shower and change also.
Sam entered her quarters and was surprised to find her meager belonging there. She unpacked and stored her "civilian" clothes. Stripping, she stepped into the shower and began to shower. As she washed she played with her nipples and bare crouch until she was clean, and semi-satisfied. After exiting the shower and being blown dry, she laid down on the queen size bed naked to rest before going to supper.
Sally and Kate were both too excited to rest. After all, tomorrow they would both be learning to fly one of the craft on board. Kate asked Sally how she had found out about the base as John wasn't supposed to tell anyone. Sally explained that she and John were fooling around and it just slipped out. Then Kate suggested that they take a shower together and see what the uniforms looked like and if they would fit correctly. The two girls weren't modest around each other so they both stripped down and went to the shower. It was not too crowned, just close enough for them to make contact frequently. Kate told Sally to turn around and she would wash her back for her. John entered his quarters, stowed his belongings, stripped down, and laid down on the bed to relax. As he laid there he started to think about what had gone on the past couple of weeks. He had found out that "spacemen" really existed, he had seen and was now on a real space base, and he had lost his cherry to his little sister! as well as taking hers. He had something he wanted to do and wanted to get it done before he joined Amy and the others for supper. Jake had found out that this was not just a base, but was really a grounded ship. He wanted to see if it would be possible to get the ship back up into space where it belonged. To do that he needed to understand what had happened previously. Not just the disablement of communications but the total damage and sabotage that had been done. He also wanted to find out why. Jake went to the main computer room and started looking at all the records he could find about the saboteur and what he had done to the ship.
It was two hours later when everyone showed up at the Captain's Mess. The girls had found out that bras were not needed as there was support built in. Also, that panties weren't needed either, unless you wanted a panty-line. The guys had noted that only briefs were to be worn, not boxers. Everyone was pleased with the different color scheme for each department:
As there wasn't anyone assigned to medical of course the "greens" were absent. The meal consisted of something that looked and tasted like meat, something green and something yellow. There was some type of bread substitude and what passed for iced tea. After everyone had finished, AL asked Amy to come to the galley as he had a surprise for the crew. When Amy came back with a cart with Hot Fudge Sundaes on it everyone was very surprised. AL informed them that he hoped that this was acceptable for dessert. Everybody thanked him. Amy told them that she would get the menu fixed as soon as she could. They all just sat around, after enjoying the Sundaes, and talked about how each felt about the base and what they were trying to accomplish. The conversation continued for a couple of hours before Amy suggested they all get some sleep, tomorrow would be a real long day for everyone.
