Chapter 6

Jake had watched the two girls for a while, until he couldn't stand it anymore due to his hard on. He went back to his room to "take matters in hand". AL speculated that, so far, only Jake and Amy had been found to have the extra chromosomes; but, that he had only scanned Kate, Jake, and Amy so far and hoped that was okay. Jake said that it was fine and asked if the scans could be detected by anyone. The answer was in the negative. AL went on to say that to scan very many people he would need either Jake or Amy to be within a specific distance of the person to be scanned, within 50 feet. That he could do a scan of the whole planet, but that would involve a large output of power that might be detected. That was one of the reasons that the "Master PC program" had been disabled on Jake's computer. AL had noted that several radio telescopes had started changing their focus when he had scanned Carol, Kim, and Tom earlier. Also, when he tried to scan other places, the telescopes had seemed to notice, so he had quit the scanning so as to not be detected. Jake asked AL if there was any way to contact Amy without letting Kate know about it. AL said he would take care of it.

In a few minutes Amy came in to the bedroom and asked what was up, she had been awakened with a message from AL to go see Jake. Jake explained what he had found out from AL and wanted her input on the matter, since she was the captain. Amy thought about it for a few seconds and then said that they really needed to try and find the First Officer and the Chief of Security. If they were unable to located them, then they would need to find someone to handle the duties in their place. Also, they would, sooner or later. have to find enough people to handle some of the many tasks that would be needed to get the base or ship back to a functional state. She had been thinking about this since her memories were awakened earlier, but hadn't said anything yet as she wanted to consider it more. They both asked AL if there was any way to hide the scanning of a large section of the population. AL said he would work on it and search his database; then contact them with what he had found. With that said they terminated the connection.

Amy looked at Jake and said "You know we really need to talk, just the two of us. First, what are we going to do if we can find a way to reactivate the base or ship or whatever? And, we need to talk about us; and Kate really has it bad for you."

Jake was shocked to hear that Kate "had it bad" for him, and was speechless for a few seconds. "Well, I don't know what to do about Kate; it seems that you and her have some type of project in the works that I'm not suppose to know about. I was really surprised when she told me the two of you had been talking about me and that you wanted me to show more interest.
