Chapter 2
It was about 10am when Amy showed up with her best friend Carol. The three of them went into his "office" and he told Amy that he thought he might have a surprise for her in that the program had appeared to work a little better after he had cleaned the code up some. Carol, who wasn't much of a computer nerd, seemed bored by all this computer nonsense and asked if they couldn't just go out to the gravel pit and go swimming instead of "wasting time" with this. Jake didn't really like this idea. Carol left the office to go to the bathroom; and while she was gone, Jake asked Amy if maybe she could get Carol to agree to be a test subject, as he didn't want to try the program on either one of them. Amy agreed and said if she had known that Carol was such a "wet blanket", she wouldn't have asked her to come. After Carol got back, Amy convinced her to let them try the program just once since Jake said it was kind of working. Then she asked Carol to be the subject telling her if nothing else she would get to laugh at them when the program didn't work. Carol agreed and Amy sat down at the keyboard and started asking questions; when Amy started to ask personal questions Carol said that she wouldn't answer them with Jake in the room and that she wanted to see them erase the file. Amy told her that they would erase the file after the test and that Jake would leave while she and Carol entered the information.
Jake left the two girls alone, went to his bedroom, and activated the keystroke monitor so he could watch what Amy entered. As Amy entered the information, he watched as Amy entered Carol's measurements:
Jake waited until he saw Amy save the file and then copied it to his hard drive just in case the program really worked. Then he heard Amy call him to say that they were finished entering the data and were ready for him to come back.
Jake went back into the office, which was really his Mom's den, and said that he was ready to try the program and that they wouldn't do anything to hurt Carol. He had Carol sit opposite of him where she couldn't see the screen and started the program, and then he remembered that he hadn't changed the first three profiles, and said that they would have to use Carol's only as the other profiles were corrupt. He selected Carol's profile and typed the command stand up and put your hands above your head Carol did just that and Amy was amazed. Then Jake typed freeze; don't pay attention to what goes on until you hear Amy say, "relax". Amy asked Carol what she was doing but got no response; she then asked Jake what was up.
"I told her to ignore what happened until you said 'relax' so we could talk without her hearing us so that we could agree as to what to try." Jake said.
"Well, let's see; the program really seem to work but how do we know she isn't just trying to fool us?" Amy replied
"We can just give her an instruction that she wouldn't ever do in public and see if she does it," said Jake.
"Okay, how about this?" and Amy wrote on a piece of paper to have Carol to remove her top and play with her boobs. Jake just nodded and entered the instruction put your hands down and take off your top; Carol did just that. Then he typed play with your nipples; once again, Carol did as instructed until she was told to stop. "Amy, tell her to relax and we'll see what she does then," Jake said.
So Amy told Carol to "relax" and just a few seconds later Carol sat back down and asked when they were going to start. Amy just giggled and said that they already had and then asked Amy why she had taken her top off. Carol then noticed that she was bare from the waist up and screamed "Oh my god, what have you done to me?" Jake and Amy explained that they hadn't done anything and were wondering why Carol had "stripped" while they were trying to decide what to try to have her do. Carol redressed and left saying that she thought that Amy was her friend but that a friend would never do something like this to her and that she would be sure to tell Jake's and Amy's moms what they did; then ran out of the room and left Jake's home in a hurry.
Jake and Amy were concerned that Carol would cause them problems until Jake told her that no one would ever believe Carol's story anyway and that they just needed to be calm.
"Yeah, you're right who would believe that two teenagers wrote a program that could control someone else via a computer. Besides, how did you do that anyway?" Amy said.
Jake didn't want to let Amy know about his "view" this morning while she was bathing; so he kept that to himself and replied, "I'm not sure what happened; I woke up earlier than usual this morning and tried to 'control' Kate and nothing happened. Therefore, I just went thru the code and found some mistyped areas and removed them then recompiled the code and tried again and this time it worked when I told Kate her left shoulder itched and she scratched. I thought it was a fluke."
"But how did you get Kate to let you try it on her?"
"I didn't ask; just did it and she reacted. I was sitting here after breakfast and she was still eating when I did it; so she didn't even know about it."
"What do we do now? We sure don't want to let this get out until we are sure that there aren't any side effects and that the program really works. Though it sure appeared to work on Carol." Amy giggled.
"Why don't we just leave it alone for now and go swimming like Carol suggested; maybe we can think of something while we are relaxing" Jake asked.
Jake went to his bedroom, quickly booted the program, and accessed Carol's profile. He could see her going down the road; he entered the instructions for Carol to forget what happened and to meet them at the gravel pit in about an hour and that she would do anything that either Amy or he told her to do for the rest of the day. Jake then quickly changed into his trunks and joined Amy to go to the pit. On the way, Jake didn't tell Amy what he had done about Carol; he wanted to wait and see if it worked that far away. Carol didn't show at the gravel pit; Jake was a little disappointed that the range didn't seem to be much more than a mile or so.
