Chapter 3
John - American-Caucasian, 34 years old, married, father of 2
Joyce - American-Irish, 30 years old, John's wife
Brenda - 12 years old, John and Joyce's daughter
John Jr. - 10 years old, John and Joyce's son
Alec - American-Caucasian, 51 years old, divorced, father of 3
3 long short weeks had gone by. John kissed his beloved wife and kids goodbye and told John Jr. that he was the head of the house during his absence.
John walked about three miles on foot and then spotted the car that was scheduled to pick him up. Not a word was spoken during the two hour drive to a small local airport out of town. Once John was dropped off the driver pointed to a leer-jet. John walked toward the jet, thinking that he recognized somebody. The closer he got the more he squinted, until he made out the figure.
"Alec?" John said as he approached the idling jet.
"John!"
"What are you doing here?!"
"Can you believe it? They had an open spot this month, so I figured what the hell, you might want the company."
"Great! It'll be great to have you along! So where are we headed?"
"I don't know. The only thing I know is that it's some small island overseas."
"Wow. So we have a journey ahead of us."
"And then another couple hour boat ride from there. Have a drink, make yourself at home." Alec said as the two took their seats.
After the long haul across the Pacific, John and Alec woke at another small airport. A car transported them to a remote pier about 45 minutes away. The boat was small but fast, and pretty comfortable for its size. Still, nobody spoke except for John and Alec to each other.
"This is unique. I've never seen a boat like this."
"Yeah. It's camouflaged for the water. Up above, all around... it can't be seen. They will let us know when to get below-deck if we need to."
"Alec, now that we're on the boat, tell me a little more about this place and what to expect."
"It's best not to say anything right now. Anyway, the experience will be much better not knowing ahead of time."
"Fair enough. I appreciate how discreet everything is."
