Chapter 1 - A new job 

Daniel Martin was trying to not show his anxiety as he approached the TSA checkpoint. Although he was that last person who would ever think about hurting anyone the screenings always made him nervous.  This one was extra stressful because his wife and children were with him.   If someone could have negative self-confidence it would be Dan.   Something as simple as forgetting to remove his watch before stepping into the machine would cause him to frantically apologize and feel like a complete idiot in front of his family.   His wife Emma tried to help him remember to put shoes, electronics, and pocket contents into the bins but the pressure to be perfect and the feeling that he was holding up the line always made him a nervous wreck.

If this was a simple vacation trip it would be one thing but they were boarding Hawaiian Airlines flight 3244 non-stop from Boston to Honolulu then taking the short hop over to Maui where Dan was starting a new job in two weeks and new life with his family in Hawaii.  Dan had been devastated when his company had gone bankrupt and he was laid off at age 35.  When his unemployment was close to running out he expanded his search from New England to the entire United States and found the opening on Maui.   At first he dismissed it but with Emma's encouragement and some research he decided to apply and after a phone interview and a couple of internet face to face calls he was offered the job at a substantial pay increase, an agent who would sell their house in Massachusetts, six months free housing and all moving expenses paid.  The movers had packed everything into a container the previous day and after spending the night at an airport hotel they were ready for the eleven-hour flight and the beginning of a new adventure.

Emma had been his rock.  She convinced their children, ten-year-old Ben and nine-year-old Grace, that it would be a grand adventure and they would make new friends in Hawaii where they could learn to surf and swim year-round.  The plane was configured with two seats, five seats and two seats across.  They decided to each take a child and sit in the outside seats one behind the other.   They figured with the long flight there would be a lot of moving around and being by themselves they wouldn't disturb anyone else.  Grace and Ben each had tablets with headphones and were given unlimited screen time, something that rarely happened.   Grace had always been daddy's girl and she spent most of the time with Dan.  He helped her find movies to watch and enjoyed holding her when she closed the screen and cuddled up to him for a nap somewhere over the middle of the country.   The direct flight made a long day but better than a long layover somewhere and the possibility of the second flight being cancelled.   The clock said five PM but their body clocks said eleven PM when they checked into the Maui airport hotel for one night.  They and all their luggage had arrived safely in Hawaii.

The next morning Dan and his family set out in the rental car for their new Hawaiian life.  The company had set him up in an extended stay hotel until he could find a house to rent.  It was the middle of June so he had lots of time to get settled before the children would have to be enrolled in a school.   Since none of them had ever been to Hawaii they spent the week before he had to report to work exploring the island and hitting some of the tourist spots.  There would be lots of weekends for beaches and more exploring.   Grace loved Hawaii from the first day.   She always liked the water and the idea that she could swim twelve months a year excited her.   Ben thought he would miss his friends but was happy to see baseball fields at many of the parks and schools. 

Dan's new company had set him up with a real estate agent who promised to find him a house to rent until they were ready to commit to buying one.   Prices were extremely high on Maui but Dan's substantial raise helped.   He was hired by a large international import/export company and his experience with the industry and his numerous contacts in the shipping industry made him the perfect candidate.  On his first day at work he was surprised at the casual nature of the office.   Most of the men wore comfortable, sometimes very colorful Hawaiian shirts and there wasn't a tie to be seen in the building.  After checking in with the receptionist he waited for his new boss, Jason to come get him.

"Dan!  Welcome to Cooper-Backster company.   Let me show you around before our HR guy buries you in forms to sign."

Jason was big and round and jolly.  He would make Santa Clause look thin in comparison.  After a strong handshake and a slap on the back he led Dan on a tour of the company.  The offices were at one end of a large warehouse and Dan estimated there were at least thirty truck bays along one wall.  Jason introduced him to people left and right as they walked and Dan struggled to keep names and positions straight.   When they reached the opening to the huge warehouse he stopped at the last office.

"Dan, I want you to meet Kimo Kalani, our warehouse manager.  You and Kimo will be working close together.  He's the best warehouse manager you'll ever meet and a helluva nice guy."

Dan guessed right away that Kimo was native Hawaiian by his looks and the many tattoos on his neck and arms.

"Nice to meet you Kimo.  Looks like you have quite an operation here.  I look forward to working with you."

"Welcome brother.  I'm sure we will work great together.  Do you have a family here?"

"Yes, my wife Emma and my two kids came with me.  It's a big change from Massachusetts, that's for sure."

"Ah you have Keiki.  That's great brother.  You'll have to come visit and meet my family."

Dan looked confused.  "Um, what's Keiki?"

Jason laughed and explained that Keiki was Hawaiian for children.   

"Kimo, it's his first week here.  Give him some time to learn the language.  Dan, I'll let Kimo explain the operation.   Kimo, drop him at HR when you're done, okay?"

"Okay boss. "

Kimo spent the next hour explaining how the company locates exporters from all over Southeast Asia and brings goods in to send to multiple customers on the mainland.  He spent an equal amount of time talking about his extended family including a lot of "cousins" and "auntie's" although Dan got the impression the words didn't always mean blood relatives.   Kimo explained that he was native Hawaiian for several generations back and that he might be related to the famous Hawaiian king Kamehameha. He insisted that Dan bring his family for dinner that Friday night after work.

The rest of the day was filled with HR paperwork, settling into his new office and meeting people.  He was nervous about starting a new job but everyone was warm and friendly, much friendlier than back in New England.  Back at the hotel Grace continued a tradition she had started as soon as she could walk.  When Dan walked through the door she ran full speed at him and launched herself into his arms.  At age nine she was almost getting too big to catch without falling backward but it was the highlight of his day and he never wanted to give it up.

"Daddy!  We saw a big turtle on the beach today!  Can we go swimming after supper.   It's so warm here, I love it.!"

Dan wrapped his arms around Grace and absorbed some of the love she seemed to emit like a beacon.   He loved both his children but Grace was his joy.  Her shiny black hair flowed down her back to her waist in a smooth cape and her perfectly straight bangs framed her sparkling green eyes.   Her flat chest gave no hint of the woman she would become but he guessed that she would be fit and petite like her mother.   Dan had loved Emma's small perky breasts from the moment she first let him touch them right after they became engaged.  She was an old-fashioned girl and even though they had cuddled naked together many times during the engagement they were both virgins when they made love for the first time on their wedding night.

"That was quick.  What should we bring? We don't know any of the customs here.  I wonder what they will serve.  I hope it's something the kids will eat."

Dan promised to ask Kimo before Friday and gave Emma a quick squeeze on her bum before sitting down to supper.  It was beginning to sink in that they were going to live in one of the most beautiful places on earth, even with the increasing tourist traffic and high prices.   After supper they settled for the hotel pool since sunset was earlier in Hawaii than back home.   It was one drawback to being closer to the equator and close to sea level.  Sunsets were beautiful but fast and early.  After a relaxing swim with his family Dan helped Grace and Ben get ready for bed.  Grace was a little too old to shower with Ben but they were still young enough to share a bedroom although Grace usually changed in the bathroom.   Ben was just beginning to notice girls but he didn't look at his sister as a girl.  She was just the little kid that could be a pain when she followed him around.   Dan was not looking forward to dealing with puberty and Grace insisting on total privacy.  He hoped he could afford a three-bedroom house in Hawaii.

The new job turned out to be interesting and well within his ability and before he knew it Kimo was giving him his address in a development just south from Lahaina.  It was on Kimo's way home but Dan would have to drive past Lahaina to pick up Emma and the kids and circle back.   By the time they found the house Kimo had the grill going and a cooler of beer ready.   Dan was glad to see bottles from the Maui Brewing Company.   He had acquired a taste for craft beer from the many small brewers in New England and was hoping he could find good beer on Maui.

"Hey brother, you found us" Kimo shouted as they entered the back yard.   It seemed like he called everyone "brother".

The house was small compared to back home but like most Hawaiian houses almost half the house was the open porch or Lanai.  There were comfortable chairs, a table and even a flat screen TV on the Lanai.  Dan introduced Emma, Grace and Ben and Kimo immediately dropped to a knee and opened his arms to hug Grace.  She was a little surprised when he wrapped her in a bear hug and put a big hand on her bum to pull her in.

"Hi little keiki.  Come give uncle Kimo a hug.  Dan, you're going to have to chase the boys away with a stick pretty soon.   Grace here is a beauty."

Dan just smiled and took Grace's hand when she broke away from Kimo.

"And who is this warrior here?  Come here Ben.  You can give Uncle Kimo and auntie Leloni a hug too."

As he said it Kimo's wife came out holding a platter of fruit.

"Hello everyone.  Come in, come in.  Nice to meet you.  Oh what a handsome boy we have here.  Come give auntie Leloni a big kiss."

Coming from reserved New England upbringing all the affection was more than a little unexpected.  Emma was surprised at how much attention was given to the children, especially when Leloni kissed Ben on both cheeks and it looked like she started to kiss him on the lips.

"Dan said you have children too." Emma said to break up the kiss fest."

"Oh yes, kids, come meet our guests."

Leloni introduced them as the three kids exited the house.

"This is Kaleo, the man of the house when Kimo is at work.  Here comes Luana, she is nine but her birthday is next month and here is our little Angel Cindy. "

"Cindy?" Dan asked before thinking.

"Ha, ha, yes.  It's a long story but she has a mainland name." Leloni added.

Kaleo was a normal boy of ten, except maybe for his deep tan and maybe being a little plump for his age.   Luana was a beauty.  Her long silky hair was similar to Grace's and she was wearing a cute crop top with a fringe that showed off her deeply tanned belly and bright pink knit shorts.  When Cindy came bouncing in Dan and Emma had to bite their tongues.  She came in wearing tiny bottoms to a swimsuit and nothing else.  Ben's eyes got a little wider as he watched the topless girl skip up to between her parents.

"Cindy, I told you no sprinkler tonight.  We have company."

"Okay daddy." She said smiling but made no move to get dressed.   

Supper was delicious as Kimo introduced them to some Hawaiian specialties and he and Leloni laughed when Emma asked if they were serving poi.

"That's just for the tourists and the historical reenactment attractions.   No one chooses to eat poi."  

The four adults hit it off right away and agreed to spend Saturday with Kimo and his family exploring some of the beaches known only to the locals.  Kimo had a big off-road SUV and said he would show them some places the tourists couldn't go.  Dan had a list of tourist places he wanted to see like the road to Hana but Kimo convinced him to wait and see them later.  They had years to explore the island and Kimo would tell them when the attractions would be less crowded and when the flowers would be at their peak and the waterfalls full.

Kimo and his wife had an easy-going demeanor that made everyone comfortable.  Dan didn't even notice when Kimo held Luana in his lap by putting his arm between her legs and holding her bum.   He thought it was sweet how Kimo sat Grace on his lap and Leloni did the same with Ben and they asked the children how they liked Hawaii and what they wanted to see.  Dan was a little surprised when topless Cindy asked Dan to pick her up and put her on his knee.   He wasn't sure where to put his hands and when she wiggled and almost slipped off, he ended up holding her by her bum with one hand and his other hand on her bare middle.   Emma asked Kaleo and Luana about school and their interests.   Of course they all liked the beach and surfing and Kimo promised to give the Martin family surfing lessons someday.

When it was getting late Leoni said it was time for baths and Luana asked Emma if she would help.  Emma was a little surprised but agreed and got an even bigger surprise when all three kids marched into the bathroom naked and climbed in the tub.   She thought Kaleo was a little old to be bathing with his sisters, especially when he displayed a small but very stiff erection before sitting down.   Leloni didn't seem to notice and Emma told herself things were different there and it didn't mean it was bad.

Bath time was the usual laughing and splashing with Leloni washing each child with her bare hand, including all the private parts.  It seemed like a lot of touching to Emma but the kids didn't even seem to notice.  When bath time was over Emma held up a towel and Kaleo stepped out of the tub and stood in front of her.  She smiled an embarrassed smile as she wrapped the towel around the naked boy and dried him like she would dry Ben.  It felt strange to be that close to another person's naked son while his mother was right there.  When everyone was dry Cindy grabbed her towel and ran out of the bathroom.

"Cindy get dressed first" Leloni yelled but it was too late.

Dan was talking to Kimo about houses to rent when Cindy came streaking out the door with her towel over her head like a hood and wide open in front.

"Goodnight Daddy" she squealed as she ran into his arms and planted a kiss right on his lips.

Kimo lifted her up and wrapped his arms around her under the towel.

"Here is my little angel.  Good night Princess.  Can you say goodnight to Dan too?"

Before he could react Dan was handed the mostly naked seven-year-old who proceeded to kiss him quickly on the lips then cuddle into his chest.  He had to reach around and hold her but he managed to get a little towel between his hand and her bare bum.   The way she smiled at him was so cute he had to laugh and give her a hug.

"Good night Cindy.  You are a little cuddle bug, aren't you?"

Dan tried to keep his eyes focused on her face because he knew her whole abdomen was uncovered and it wouldn't be polite to look at the seven-year-old's private parts.   

"She's not shy is she?" He laughed as he tried to pull the towel over her front.

Kimo laughed.  "No, Cindy is our nature girl.  She knows her ancestors would think it was strange for us to bind ourselves in uncomfortable cloth.   Before the Europeans came to the island men and women only wore the minimum needed to protect sensitive parts from scratches.   A lot of us wish we could return to some of the ancient ways.  That's a discussion for another day.   Pass the nature girl over and I'll put her to bed.

"No, I want uncle Dan and auntie Emma to do it" 

Kimo smiled and asked Dan if he minded.  Dan loved bedtime with his own kids so he said sure as he stood up and carried Cindy inside.  He was surprised to find all three kids slept in the same bed with tube like bumpers separating them.  Emma had been recruited to help Kaleo and Luana and was tucking them in when Dan carried Cindy in and set her down on the bed.  Leloni casually took the towel away and watched as Cindy stood up and bounced on the bed a few times before crawling under the covers nude.

"She sleeps like that?" Emma asked Leloni.

"Oh yes. She always has since she was out of diapers." 

Leloni replied as if it was perfectly normal for a seven-year-old to sleep naked beside her brother.  Apparently in that house it was.  Ben and Grace had followed Dan into the house and they stood with mouths open as Cindy did her naked dance before climbing under the covers.  Dan and Emma decided it was time to leave and they arranged to meet back at Kimo's house the next morning for a beach day.  The drive home was quiet but when Dan tucked Grace in she turned her head as he tried to kiss her cheek and kissed him on the lips.

"That's how Cindy kissed her daddy goodnight."

"Well Cindy's family does things a little different than we do.   Our Mommy and Daddy kisses are on the cheek.  Okay?"

"I guess so" she said as she snuggled under the covers.  She wouldn't argue with her father but she didn't agree with him.   Kissing on the lips felt nice.   It shouldn't matter if it was Auntie Leloni or her parents or even Kaleo doing the kissing.   She liked it and hoped Leloni would convince her parents that it was okay.  When Dan closed the door she whispered to Ben.

"Hey Ben.  What do you think about Hawaii now?  Did you see Cindy jumping on the bed like that?"

"I tried to look the other way but yea she jumped around naked in front of her brother and all of us.  Pretty wild."

"Luana seems nice.  I think she likes you."

"She is nice and pretty too but she probably has a boyfriend."

"Ha-ha, you like her don't you." Grace teased.

"Well you like that Leo guy.  I saw you smile at him."

"It's Ka-LEE-Oh.  Go to sleep."

"Do you think they swim naked?  Mom would never let us do that."

"God I hope not.  I don't want to see our parents naked.  Gross"

"Goodnight Gracie."

"Ugh, now I can't stop thinking about that.  Goodnight Benny."

Dan poured some wine for himself and Emma and joined her in the living room.  Emma took the glass and said.

"Well that was an interesting night.  Kimo is quite a character."

"He sure is but he's a great guy and I have to work closely with him in this new job.   Things are different here and he is native Hawaiian from way back so he will have different traditions."

"Like feral children who run around naked and kiss like adults?"

Dan smiled and sipped his wine.

"Yes and it rubs off.  Grace just tried to kiss me goodnight like Cindy does.  I told her we have different customs."

"Well they sure are different but the kids were well behaved and happy so I guess we can go with the flow.   We are not letting Grace or Ben swim naked tomorrow no matter what Kimo's kids do."

Dan finished his wine and put his arm around Emma.

"No, the Martins will not be skinny dipping but I wouldn't be surprised if Ben gets an eye full tomorrow.  Did you see his face when Cindy jumped on the bed?"

"Maybe you should warn him to not stare and explain it's natural and not sexual."

"I'll say something about staring.  I'm not bringing up the subject of sex.  That could open a flood of questions.  Enough about the kids.  Can you believe we're living in Hawaii?  How about a little fun on the lanai?"

They all climbed into the big SUV with surf boards on top where some of the kids had to double up on a seatbelt in the third row.  Kaleo made sure he was next to Grace and Ben ended up next to Luana.   He tried hard to not stare but Luana was wearing bikini bottoms that were too big for her and he caught glimpses of her privates inside the leg opening when she lifted her leg to scratch an itch.   Cindy chose to ride between Emma and Dan and ended up pulling her shirt up passed her waist before sitting down.  

They drove down the coast in the direction of the extinct volcano, past exclusive resorts and small towns until they reached the end of the paved road near Makana state park or what is better known as Big Beach.  Kimo explained that the surf was usually too rough for swimming but it was a great spot for whale watching in the winter when thousands of whales come to Hawaii to give birth or mate.

"Of course the big attraction is Little Beach" Kimo added as they drove past the entrance.  

"What's Little Beach?" Dan asked.

"Little Beach is a little secluded beach separated by a big lava flow from Big Beach.  It's the only unofficial nude beach in Hawaii.  Technically it's illegal but the cops have an agreement that as long as no one gets hurt or get too rowdy they stay away.   During the week it's mostly old hippies and gay guys but the Sunday night drum circle is a family event you really should check out."

"I don't think we will be going to any nude beaches, especially with kids."

"Well I hope you change your mind someday.  It's a beautiful thing to see families dance around the fire to the beat of a dozen drums.  A few women just go topless but most people are au naturel.  We go every chance we get.  There are rumors it's going to be shut down because too many tourists are bringing alcohol and leaving a mess."

The thought of seeing someone he works with dancing around a fire naked didn't set well with Dan.   He preferred to think of Kimo as the excellent warehouse manager who made his work life easier.  

They reached the end of the paved road and Kimo switched to four wheel drive.  Tourists with rental cars were not allowed to drive on unpaved roads so anyone they met would be a resident.  He followed a set of tire tracks up into the lava flow and down past a couple beaches with cars until he reached one with no cars in sight.

"This is it.  Everyone out.  Kids don't go in the water without an adult close by.  Grace and Ben, the number one rule in Hawaii is never turn your back on the ocean.  A big wave can come and knock you over when you least expect it.   This cove is pretty shallow but you should always be careful."

Everyone piled out and Ben got an eyeful when Luana turned to get something in the back and presented him with two round bare globes with nothing but a string between them.   Dan helped get the surfboards down and Kimo said he would give Dan's two children some lessons.   Grace was up first and after falling several times in shallow water Kimo moved her out to just under waist high for him so that he could hold her upright as she learned to balance.  Since he was standing beside her he ended up with one hand on her lower back and one on her belly.   She started out with her hand on his head but after she learned to stay standing he moved the board out deeper.  The next time she was about to fall he reached out to hold her and ended up with one hand on her bum and one on her abdomen well below her belly button.   He only held her for an instant but Grace thought she felt him squeeze her bottom before he let go again.   The last lesson was for her to ride a wave while on her knees and he gave the board a shove just at the right time and watched her scream with delight as the board brought her to shore.   Dan and Emma were there to congratulate her with hugs as Ben jumped up from talking to Luana and took the board out to Kimo.

Ben's lesson went well and by lunch time both kids were riding the board successfully for short distances.   Dan and Emma declined to try it in front of their kids but they did enjoy the warm water and having fun with their kids and Kimo's.   Emma gradually decided that the skimpy bathing suits and Cindy's nudity were just cultural differences and that Kimo and Leloni were a nice couple and good parents.   She decided to work harder at leaving her stoic New England upbringing behind and learn to live the Hawaiian life.   She even considered going to Little Beach with Dan someday in the future but not with Grace and Ben.

After lunch the adults sat by the water and let the kids play.  They all seemed to get along good although it looked like Ben was developing a crush on Luana.   Grace loved the protected cove they were in.   The waves would roll in and gently lift her up as they passed.  At times she felt like there were hands on her waist lifting her but no one was that close to her.   One time when she dove under a wave she thought she heard a woman's voice say "Aloha Grace.  Welcome"

The children swam and played and recruited Kimo for a huge game of Marco Polo.   He would lunge in the direction of a voice and several times it seemed like he caught one under the water but they would get away.   One time he did catch Luana by her loose bikini bottoms and pull them down below her bum before letting go. 

"Hey, no undressing the competitors." Leloni shouted then laughed as her daughter struggled to position the string back in her butt crack.

When it was time to leave Ben and Grace assumed that they would wear their wet bathing suits back to Kimo's house and change there but as they approached the car they watched Cindy take her bottoms off and dry herself in full view of everyone before slipping on knit shorts and no top.

Leloni held up two more sets of clothes.  "Kaleo and Luana, come change so you don't get the seats wet.   Emma, did you bring a change of clothes for Grace and Ben?"

Emma was a little stunned.  "Yes but I thought they would change at your house.  They're a little old to be changing in public."

Leloni looked around at the empty beach.   "Oh, but we're the only ones here.  I guess you could go in the other side of the car if your two are that shy.  They're only kids. They don't really have anything to hide yet."

Emma thought for a minute as Ben watched Luana struggle to get out of her wet bikini and then dry herself in full view of the Martin family.  His eyes followed her body from the flat chest with no hint of a tan line, down her trim stomach, passed her innie belly button to that mysterious crease of flesh between her legs.    He had seen Grace a few times and knew the general anatomy but seeing another girl out in the sunshine like that was a new experience.  Kaleo wasn't as much of an exhibitionist and he stayed behind the towel most of the time but Grace did get a few peeks of his boy dick.  When they were finished Emma retrieved the kids' clothes and took them around to the back of the car.

Chapter 3 - The gradual change

"I'm sure they would love to teach us.   Kimo said something about a spiritual leader they go to.  I think they call him Kahuna.  I hope it's not just for native Hawaiians."

Ben and Grace were too excited to sleep.   Life in Hawaii was so different from back home.  They loved how free Kimo's children were and how close they felt to their parents in the pool.   Swimming naked should have been considered very naughty but their parents had made it a way to show their love.

Kimo gave Dan an assignment that shocked him at first but he said he would talk to Emma and they would probably try it.  He agreed to report back to Kimo before the weekend to let him know if they wanted to keep going.

They both agreed and Grace asked what was next.

"Well Kimo said we have a lot to learn before we can join his church so he gave me two assignments.  The first one will feel strange but he said it's important.  He said I need to kiss Grace like I kiss your mom and she needs to do the same with Ben.  Kimo said touching lips lets the love flow between us.  He also said we should hug places we don't usually hug like cute little bums.
