Introduction 

Perhaps you have come across an earlier book about my 
friend Megumi called _We Always Do It For Real_. She 
wrote that book jointly with Bob Williams, an American 
journalist and one of her many off-screen lovers. He 
had asked her to help him with his articles about the 
Japanese sex industry and the girls who work in it; 
and she told him all about her early sexual 
experiences, how it had become her dream to star in 
sex videos, and her first months at the Marucho Film 
Studios. 

Bob turned this into some successful articles, but it 
soon became obvious that they had enough material for 
a book. _We Always Do It For Real_ was the result. As 
soon as that was published they started thinking about 
a sequel. But Megumi's sexuality and career were both 
developing fast, and it was not easy to take stock of 
where things were going and decide on a theme and a 
shape for a second book. Bob felt the theme should be 
Megumi's popularity outside Japan and the growing 
Western interest in the Japanese pornography scene. 
But while, under Mr Otani's influence, Megumi and her 
studio were indeed more involved in the United States, 
she could not see how this development provided the 
basis for a book, or whether it led to a natural 
stopping point. The second problem solved itself when 
Megumi suddenly decided to get married. While of 
course both Megumi and her husband intend that she 
should continue her successful career in the Japanese 
pornography industry, the description of the wedding 
and the honeymoon would clearly round off an account 
of Megumi's adventures to date. The theme of the book 
then came into focus when I became involved with 
Megumi, sharing both her bed and her professional 
life. 

Of course I very soon learnt about the new book 
project, and agreed (a bit reluctantly!) to her idea, 
enthusiastically supported by Bob, that my story 
should be intertwined with Megumi's. Bob generously 
handed over to us girls the material he had collected. 
He still has an important part in the book, and in 
both our lives - which, he says, matters much more 
than being on the title-page! 

Why should you care about _my_ story when you are 
reading this book because you are interested in 
Japanese girls? I am only partly Japanese and was 
brought up in the United States. Well, _We Always Do 
It For Real_ contains suggestions that Japanese 
girls' attitude to sex is healthier and more natural 
than ours, and gives much more pleasure to them and 
their partners. Certainly Western pornography often 
seems sleazy and exploitative - of the customer, I 
mean! - when compared with the Japanese product 
featuring such charmingly enthusiastic and genuine 
models and actresses. So far as I can tell - and Bob 
confirms this - the same applies to Western and 
Japanese strip-shows, sex clubs, brothels and so on. 
But for us in the West, public sex doesn't have to be 
like that. I had a normal American initiation into sex 
(perhaps a little more than normal, as you will see 
when you get to that part of the book) but it left me 
with no hang-ups about being fucked in front of an 
audience. Quite the contrary - it was what I liked 
best! So when I fell in love with Megumi I was ready 
to be introduced to the Japanese way. 

Japan has a lot to teach us about joyous sex and 
nudity, whether in private or in public, both amateur 
and professional. So my contribution to the theme of 
this book is to show how a Western girl (mainly 
Western in my case) can learn from Japanese girls as 
she loses her inhibitions, her self-doubts and - of 
course - her clothes. The popularity in the West of 
Japanese pornographic websites is a positive sign. But 
enjoying images and videos of pretty Japanese girls 
delightedly showing off their nudity and rejoicing in 
their sexuality is only the beginning. For me, the 
culmination was being allowed to share with Megumi the 
joys of public nudity and sex in the clubs, film 
studios and sex parties of Tokyo. That is my life now: 
and I could not be happier. 

If I have anything to teach other Western girls who 
may read this book, it is to avoid making false 
distinctions in enjoying their sexuality. Too many of 
them think that while sex with lovers in private is 
good, sex in public - at a strip-show, in a video, 
even at a party among friends - is somehow 
"exploitation". How ridiculous! It is the ultimate 
expression of the joyfulness of sex, and of how it can 
be shared with everyone. It has nothing to do with 
money. Of course my father and his studio make sure I 
have enough to live on, but that is not the reason I 
do what I do. I learnt from Megumi that the lovely 
tingling feeling which overwhelms me as I offer my 
nudity to an enthusiastic audience is an essential 
part of my sexuality - and my sexuality is an 
essential part of my life. Of course as I stand there 
being admired - my nakedness enhanced by those subtle 
touches of high heels and pretty jewellery which make 
a nude girl seem even nuder - my audience are 
desperate to fuck me, but not as desperate as I am 
have them fuck me! Sex and nudity, nudity and sex, in 
public or in private: they are all part of the same 
thing. The more pleasure you give - to your lover of 
the moment, but also to your audience - the more you 
receive. The more your climax satisfies you, the more 
you long for the next. 

There is nothing uniquely Japanese about this 
integrated and all-embracing sexuality which comes so 
naturally to Japanese girls. It is _every_ girl's 
birthright. If Western girls - and Western men, for 
that matter - don't understand that, they will perhaps 
do so after reading this book. 

Will there be a third book about Megumi? Her career 
has certainly continued successfully since her 
marriage and there is more to tell. But the three of 
us - Megumi, Bob and I - have been thinking about a 
book with a slightly different theme. Not all girls, 
even in Japan, develop naturally into sensual beings, 
endlessly active sexually. What happens to a girl who 
has the bad luck to miss out on a healthy introduction 
to sex and cannot enjoy the pleasures to which the 
rest of us are so addicted? Is she maimed for ever or 
can she be cured? 

We think we have found a character through whom we can 
explore this theme. You may be hearing from us again!

Note to ASSTR edition

The main action of this novel is set in 1993/94, when 
Megumi is 19. So if you find the technology described 
a little old-fashioned - videotape rather than DVD,
