About Literotica... by Baphomet <mail.baphomet@gmail.com> I have been posting stories to Literotica for several months under the name baphemetis (an alternate spelling of baphomet). My experience has been mixed. There are some good points, many good points in fact, but I'm afraid the bad has outweighed the good, at least for me anyway. I had several stories rejected for ridiculous reasons. Mainly because the characters they were based on were under 18. One series, "Terminator, With Love" was especially ridiculous. At first I was ambiguous about the age of the characters, but this wasn't enough. So, I aged the characters and made them 18 in the story. Not a big deal, right? Instead of a high school junior, John Connor is a high school senior. Instead of time traveling from 1999 to 2007, the time travel from 2001. To top it all off, Thomas Dekker, who plays John was 20 when the series was filmed. Summer Glau, who plays Cameron is 30. Well, it turns out that this isn't enough. The story got rejected again because the time-traveling robot in the series is depicted as 15-16 on TV. It doesn't matter when I write the series, they are and will always be 16 years old ad infinitum, as far as Literotica is concerned. It's not the first and only story I've had rejected, but it is, in my opinion, the most ridiculous of the batch. These are fictional characters. It's fiction. None of these people are real. No one is getting hurt. No children are harmed during the writing of these stories!!! Finally, I went to the Literotica Story Discussion forum to ... well, to discuss my story. I was insulted numerous times (but hey, it's the internet, I'm a big boy) and then my story was locked. The moderators saw fit not to do me the courtesy of telling me why my story was locked (or who locked it, coward) and, if my post was inappropriate, where I should go to discuss my issue. Since I joined, I feel I have been a contributing member. My stories consistently scored above 4.25 on a 5-point scale and within a month, I had a story ranked as "hot" (scored over 4.5 with more than 100 votes). I contributed to the forums, offered advice to people, gave feedback when I could. Rather than be treated like dirt and have Literotica benefit from my stories, I have removed them all from the site. There is no point in helping them out when *all* of my stories can appear in full, uncensored on ASSTR and other sites. I want to make a point with all this. Sure, Literotica gives me access to a huge audience, but if I can't write my stories... well, what's the point? I encourage all of you, no matter where you find yourself, to be true to yourself. Don't let anybody tell you what you can or can't do. I would rather write my stories the way I want them than water them down to fit somebody else's idea of what's right or wrong. You should be just as uncompromising with your own work, whatever you do. Do what you want to do. Do what you think is right. Maybe my audience is smaller for not being on Literotica, but many of these stories would have no audience at all if I stuck with them. Thanks always all of you for reading my stories and a special thank you to the people who write to me and encourage me to continue writing. I appreciate all of your feedback. Thank you!
