Flash: The Nose Knows

Meredith's huge Manhattan loft was bulging with humanity and throbbing with the

sounds of her fabulous party. I was in the corner with my back against her

locked display of first editions, listening to Peter Townes' pompous blathering

about his firm's performance with my stock portfolio and watching the crowd when

I saw a couple exit the bedroom hall.

He was chiseled and handsome, virile, an archetypical male model too beautiful

for his own good. She was a model, too, tall and young with delicate features,

huge eyes, and a perfect frame. His self-satisfied smirk and her soft, relaxed

face told me they had been together.

She quickly joined us, where Peter introduced her as Sydney, his "main squeeze,"

and told her my profession.

"He's a professional nose, the highest paid in the world," Peter said. "Go

ahead, Simon. Take a sniff and tell her the perfume she wears."

She froze and held her breath with pursed lips as my nose proved what I

suspected.

"She strongly smells of semen. I suspect she just gave someone a blowjob and he

came in her mouth," I said as my eyes burned into her. "Does she swallow,

Peter?" I asked.

Tears welled in her eyes as Peter angrily swelled until he exploded, saying,

"Sydney, I want you out of my brownstone tonight." He turned to me and said,

"Good night, Simon," before he stormed off.

"Why did you tell him, you bitch?" Sydney demanded.

"Next time, slut," I hissed. "Suck off your own lover, not mine."

She hurried to follow Peter, leaving me alone in a crowd to nurse my heartache.
