Chapter 29

Day Twenty-nine - Monday

Sue and I woke at the same time, just before six. We played, and then showered teasing each other then dressed in jeans and regular shirts and went next to my trailer to start coffee. Sue thought biscuits would be good this morning so she whipped up a batch of Bisquick and put them in the oven.

As soon as the coffee was done, I turned on the patio light drawing our crew like mosquitoes to light. Some bouncy, some dragging some dressed saucily, some plain.

Glenda was commenting on the bikers that came yesterday when my phone began ringing. I went inside to answer and to hear Gene, begging us to please make him another frame as soon as possible. I asked him if one of the new stainless steel ones would work and he said it would be fine but to make him a regular steel one as soon as possible too. I told him I could deliver the two eighteen percent stainless frames this morning and his immediate reaction was great, when can you get them here.

I told Sue what the deal was and that I was going to have a biscuit then take off to haul the two frames down to Gene. She said she wanted to go with me so I asked Glenda and Ruth if they would clean up for us.

At the shop, I had an idea. I went out to the big truck and checked my supplies. I made a list for later but was satisfied that we had enough of everything. I took the cover off the truck then pulled it around to hook up the trailer. The trailer light socket was the same as on the pickup. I pulled in front of the shop so Sue and I could get the finished frames up on the trailer.

It was a struggle but we did it. I parked the pickup and told Sue we would leave it. I took down the blue print we had been using then we drove down to Gene's in the heavy morning traffic.

I backed the trailer up to the door we had worked at previously then went in to find Gene. He was in the garage stripping a wreck. I told him I had a delivery for him and that excited the heck out of everyone there.

Every guy in the shop came out to carry the two frames in. Gene and the crew chiefs were pouring over the two frames. They took one over to a huge scale and weighed it murmuring that it was about thirty pounds lighter than the other frames.

I followed them over to a frame straightening rack. Instead of pulling to straighten, they squashed, then twisted, then squashed some more. When they were done they set upon the frame with squares to calculate all the angles. They all nodded, happy that the frame was passing the stress test.

They hauled the frame into the garage where they were parting out the wreck. While several guys still pulled parts off the wreck, several guys went right to work, installing paneling and interior equipment. While one guy was running a wiring harness two guys were soldering connections. They were really moving.

I went to Gene and asked him if he had steel for another frame. He said, sure, never less than five to six cars worth were always on hand. I said if he wanted, Sue and I would build him one real quick today.

"If you two need to work late to get it done, no problem. We're going to be here most of the night ourselves," Gene said directing one his men to bring us a set of steel tubing and plates.

Sue and I disconnected the trailer, repositioned the truck and set up the table. We changed into our coveralls. By the time we had everything ready, including batteries in the charger for the grinders and drills, the tubing was there.

We began measuring and cutting, then bending. We had it down now and were able to do all of it in just a fraction over an hour, even with double checking before and confirming after we cut and bent.

I set up both wire feed arc welders on the truck. Sue and I hustled through measuring and tacking all three sections. The re-measuring at this point took a lot of time but we were still done by eleven. I gave Sue the rear section weld and I started on the front.

At noon, Gene came back and invited us to eat with them. He had a huge layout on four card tables of everything you could want for a sandwich including multiple kinds of bread.

Sue and I made up some sandwiches and eating them with the crews. We only took about fifteen minutes as we wanted to see how fast we could do this one so we were back to work in less than a half hour.

We were through welding the cage in place by two then re-measured everything again confirming lengths and angles then we started grinding and cleaning. I had Sue begin on the front while I worked on the back confirming and inspecting her welds. She was getting faster and she was getting damn good. Her welds were getting tighter as good or better than most welders were.

About three-thirty I started drilling holes while Sue finished up the polishing of the cage. At four thirty we stood back and looked at the completed frame. We were tempted to let it be but we went back for one last re-measure and inspection. Everything was accurate so I went to get Gene.

He couldn't believe it. He said he was going to review his surveillance tapes and make a composite for his guys to watch how fast people can work. I told him when he had a tape to make us a copy so we could watch it to find out whether we could do it faster.

I made up the invoice for the two stainless steel experimental frames with us providing the materials then an invoice for the frame we just produced. I carried them to Gene, asking him for a copy of his sales tax exemption form.

He smiled and said, "glad you asked for that as I was afraid you were winging it and trying to avoid reporting. If you could, send me your federal I.D. for our records too."

I went out to the truck where I had the numbers on a sheet of paper and brought them back to Gene. He wrote out the check for seventeen thousand six hundred dollars and said, "I should tip you guys again but I don't want to spoil you. Maybe you two could come with us to a race as part of the crew. You would love it."

"That might be nice, we'll talk about it. You don't need to tip us, we thank you for the business. Let me know when you need us."

Gene looked at us a minute then wrote a telephone number on a piece of paper with a name, "Give this guy a call, he was complaining about the slow deliver he was having for frames. You might be able to help him. I hope he doesn't monopolize your time, I'm still going to need you."

I smiled at him saying, "You're first, always. Just ask, we'll deliver."

We cleaned up our equipment then the shop putting everything away including our blueprint. We hooked up the trailer and drove to the storage place to park the trailer and the truck. I went to the office to see if I could get a place next to the truck for the trailer. The guy was happy to sell me more space.

Abe was busily painting panels hung up in my workspace saying he needed more space to do everything. I walked back up to the office and asked if he could give us the next space over and have lighting and power installed for us like the spaces we already had. He said no problem, he would move the people who were in the space and get it done by Wednesday. When I told Abe what I had done he was surprised.

"You really rented another space, just because I was complaining?" Abe asked.

"You bet, can't make my money maker unhappy. With our activity, we can afford it and probably need it. I was thinking of trying to find at least one good welder to work exclusively here at the shop. We might even need another space."

Abe then motioned toward the generator setting in his space with new tires and the frame and towing tongue freshly painted, "this one's done except for putting the panels back on when they dry. It was a mess from lack of care but I don't think it has ten total hours on it. Inside, it's like brand new. It just needed routine maintenance, cleaning up and to replace the dry rotted tires. This one is probably worth a grand more than the one you just sold. Think your guy would go for it? It will look like brand new and not even a wave in the sheet metal."

"I'll try, if I get it, I'll give you most of it, as I would never know to ask for more," I said sincerely.

"Just pay me like you always do. The commission I'm making is better than any salary I've ever had and that's what I'm here for, to teach you," Abe said proudly.

Sue and I took off to go to the bank then headed to the grocery store. I wanted steak with all the trimmings so we bought a pile of nice looking thick sirloins, potatoes, broccoli, rolls and more romaine along with the ingredients for more dressing.

On the way home from the store, I proposed a couple of ideas I had to Sue. She liked them both and gave me kiss as we were driving. She asked if we were moving too fast. My reply was that it was taking too long.

As soon as we got home, I started the grille wondering where the others were as it was already near six. Sue went home to clean up and I went into my trailer to shower, turning on the oven and put the potatoes in as went by on the way to the bathroom.

After cleaning up, I made more dressing then filled a huge bowl with pulled a part romaine. With the potatoes baking, I went out to the patio to find only Tiny sitting, sipping a beer.

"Where is everyone tonight," I asked concerned.

"Hanna said Jim was running late but should be here in ten to fifteen minutes, Shawna called Ruth saying they had to finish an emergency repair and would be here by six thirty and Ruth will be back from the store in ten minutes. It's quiet now, but noisy in a few minutes."

Sue walked back over and asked the same question I did with Tiny giving his speech again. I put out some cut up veggies with some home made ranch dressing to dip them in and joined Tiny having a beer. Sue checked on everything then got a diet coke and settled down.

Amazingly within fifteen minutes everyone was showing up. Just about the time we had settled down to munching the veggies and drinking beer, Martin and Glenda drove in then came over saying they had to get some stuff at Wal-Mart and took longer than they thought it would.

Now the crew was complete.

Sue served the salad and I started the steaks. The potatoes were ready so they were brought out and put on plates along with a giant bowl of broccoli. I started dishing out the steaks to the various ones that had wanted theirs done a certain way.

The next twenty minutes were full of eating sounds, not much talking. We finished and the women gathered everything up and took it inside to wash. The men sat and chatted for a few minutes being mellow thanking whoever it was that said the women should be washing the dishes.

I asked Tiny what he thought if I replaced the little trailer with one of those giant ones, one of the big doublewides that was bigger than most houses. I said my plan would be to leave the shed and patio where they were but have a bigger place for Sue's business as well as our living area. He that would be cool but I would probably have to pay for two lots. Tiny said one of his clients sold manufactured homes and he knew they would give us a decent deal.

The girls came out, chatting among themselves. When everyone was settled, complete with Glenda and Martin on the lounger I made my announcement, "Sue and I don't want to wait, I think we should get married tomorrow or Wednesday."

There was a shocked, murmuring then finally a clear question, "Where?"

"How about right here, on this patio."

Glenda asked, "Who's going to marry you?"

"Tiny will do it, he's a notary."

"I will?" said Tiny surprised.

"You'll do it for us, right?" I pleaded.

"Sure, I guess, I've never done it before," Tiny said.

"Next I'm going to buy the trailer from Abe then replace it with a double wide to hold us and Sue's growing business," I announced happy to discuss my plan. "I don't want to move away from my friends so Sue and I are going to make the place fit for us."

I looked at a bunch of stunned people, "How about let's plan on Wednesday evening. That will give you ladies time to find some fancy dresses. I want all of you to go to a thrift store or one of the resell places. I bet you all can find matching stuff at one and my bride to be can find a hell of a deal on a gown. It's not that I'm cheap, but no sense in blowing a ton on something you can use again."

"I'm going to order one of those big tents to be put up so we can have some more room for tables and chairs for the wedding dinner. It will be catered. I have a lead on a small band to play music for us so we can have our wedding dance on the patio. All men including Tiny will wear clean, pressed denims and boots, even me. This is going to be the trailer trash wedding of all time. Actually the happiest trailer park wedding of all time."

"Now then, not to scare you all but I will be inviting Hap out to be with us. Not his entire club but Hap and perhaps on of his key men and their women. He would be offended to leave him out. If any of you feel some of our other friends should come, like Denise and her guy, Jan and Dell or any others that may want to come. Tell them the wedding will be at seven and the reception till we run out of booze or they all pass out."

Charlie, since you've lived out here a long time could you gather some teens to direct traffic and park people, especially the bikes so they are not in the yard here?"

"Done," said Charlie.

I picked up my cell phone and dialed the clubhouse. I identified myself and asked for Hap. When he came on the phone I explained the deal. He was excited that I invited him and promised to be there with only one of his guys and their women.

I called Jim's and talked to Denise. She said she would take off regardless and would be here for the whole thing. She asked if it was okay to tell our friends there as she said they would all want to be there. I told her to go ahead.

Next was the call for the band. I told them what the gig was and said I had a concrete pad to play from and for dancing. The guy said he could do it because it was in the middle of the week.

The last was the caterer who had been recommended by Gene. The guy said he was available but when I told him I wanted a nice buffet type meal with enough to serve 200 he choked little. I then made his day saying I wanted an open bar from six till no one was standing. He said that was great but I should hire a limo service to take drunk folks home. I thought that was a great idea and got a number from him.

I called the limo service and made arrangements for at least two cars to be ready by nine but to have some on standby if more were needed.

Sue came over and sat on my lap, "Ruth called a second hand shop she gets all her designer clothes at and they have dresses for us plus a few gowns to choose from. How did you know?"

"Lucky guess that's all. Everything is ordered except the flowers and the tent with tables and chairs. You need to make up some fliers and post them around the park tomorrow morning with an open invite to the wedding. You've been here long enough that a lot of people would like to come. Put "NO PRESENTS" on the flier and lots of people will come."

"This will be fun. There is going to be lots of people. I've called my Mom and Uncle already so I know they will be here. They are kind of shocked we are having it so fast. I'm really excited and now can't wait."

I hugged her saying, "Tomorrow morning we're going to the manufactured home place to see if they have what we want. I'll get you back in time to go to the shop for the dresses with the rest of the girls. Then I have to get the rest of stuff ordered and out here."

"Why don't we wait till the weekend?" Sue asked.

"Easy," I smiled "None of the people or equipment would be available. It would be rented out to others having long planned parties and weddings."

"Good thinking my smart husband-to-be."

I told everyone Sue and I was going to take a long walk and end up at the pool for some exercise. The rest of the crew excluding Glenda and Martin said they were coming with us.

We walked, then swam, then played in the hot tub. It seemed all the guys were trying to get one last shot at Sue thinking she could become out of bounds soon. The women were equally expectant, demanding I munch on all of them and leave a little something inside them.

We all ended up back on the patio still wired because of the excitement having one last beer to put us to sleep.

Eventually, we all went to our respective places to sleep. Sue and I enjoyed each other one last time falling asleep damp from sweat and wet from out orgasms.
