Day Eleven - Thursday

I woke up at seven-thirty starved again but this time I just had oatmeal and coffee after a quick shower that I finished this time. I had some more coffee out on the patio and saw the kids leave for school. Kathy came out of the house and came over in bathrobe. I got her a cup of coffee.

"Steve, I can't stand this," Kathy said "I've put you in so much danger that I can't believe you even allow me to come here and talk to you.

"I can't stay here. I've talked to my mom and dad and they are going to help me move back up north. I have to get away from here, away from all the memories of Jake. The kids miss their grandma and grandpa too."

"I'm sorry to hear you're leaving. I know you haven't felt comfortable around me lately with all this bad stuff going on. I'm just thankful you and the kids have not been hurt. We've all been lucky," I said really feeling the emotion.

"Another thing," Kathy continued "I saw how you just reacted and kicked that guy, killing him. It was automatic, almost a natural reaction. Jake was like that. Are all you ex G.I.'s that way? Do you all kill so easily?"

"Kathy, I didn't mean to kill him, I was trying to save the deputy. If I had not done something, Henry would have shot one or all of us. I couldn't reach him in time but I could kick him in time, so that's what I did. You know I didn't want to kill him or I would have done it in the trailer."

"It's still scary and I don't want my kids to ever see something like that again. Anyway, we're going to be leaving this weekend. Before that though I want you to come look at something with me okay?"

"Sure, anything. When do you want to do it."

Kathy smiled, "with you I really want to do it all the time but for the other, let's do it this morning. I'll go get dressed and you can drive."

She got up and headed back to her trailer. I went in and put on some clean jeans and T-shirt. My boots were a little cramped. I was going to have to look for another pair of boots soon as I was wearing these everyday.

I locked up then waited till Kathy came back. We got into the truck and headed out with me asking directions. She told me to go to the storage place. It was the same place I had all my stuff. We went to one of the smaller garages where she said to stop.

Kathy unlocked the padlock then raised the door. Inside was a fairly new Harley evolution FLH with the fairing, all the bags and the rear trunk. Kathy went over to it and petted it, disturbing some dust that had accumulated on the paint. She looked at me with tears in her eyes, "See if it will start," and handed me the keys.

I turned on the gas, cranked the throttle a couple of times, checked to make sure it was in neutral the turned on the key. The dash lit up. I hit the button and it started instantly. I looked at Kathy and she was bawling. I shut the bike off and held her till she quit shaking.

"This is the first time I've looked at it since he left. This is hard but I want you to have it. This way you'll always have a part of me and Jake. You didn't know Jake, but you're like him in so many ways. I could love you like I do Jake but I'm scared of you and after seeing it up close, I'd rather love you the way I want to remember you."

Kathy straightened herself and said, "you have to have it out of here by tomorrow. If you have time, clean it up, change the oil and give me ride tonight or tomorrow night. Let's go back to the house so I can get you the title so you can put some current tags on it. I'm serious though I want a ride."

I couldn't let her just give me the bike so I figured Dell would know what it was worth. Kathy gave me the papers then I went to the bike shop to have Dell come outside and appraise the bike. He looked at it hard thinking he was going to buy it and finally said, It's worth right at twelve-five. I asked him to write it on a service ticket so I would remember the number. He fell for it and wrote it up complete with the serial number, the miles and the correct model.

I went to the DMV and showed them the estimate and paid the sales tax on the bike and got some new tags. This time I called the number on the card the adjuster gave me. A lady answered and I explained why I had called her and a little of what I wanted. She said she had personal and commercial lines so she felt she could do everything I needed. I went to her office and purchased motorcycle insurance that included passenger injury money and all that.

I took the bike back to Dell's and asked Charlie to change the oil for me while I cleaned it up explaining to him the deal. Shawna recognized the bike and helped me get it looking really nice. I took the bike home and packed it into the shed then walked next door to ask Martin to take me to the storage place to get my pickup.

While I was at the storage place, I turned in the information on Kathy's unit and made sure the owners knew I was keeping both of my units along with the slot for the truck.

Back at the park, I made sure that Glenda and Martin would watch the kids then went to see Kathy armed with paper and pen. I plead my case with her saying that if I had to come see her, where would she be and what were her parents' names and their address. I must be silver-tongued as she spewed out the info I asked for. I told her Glenda and Martin would be over at six and to be ready.

I took off to the bank. I got a cashier's check for eleven thousand five hundred dollars then put it in an envelope with a short note to her parents telling them to give it to her when she needed it. Mr. Softy even put in the note how much I thought and loved their daughter but it must not be meant to be." I sealed it up and conned the bank manager to mail it for me.

Back home, I showered, put on clean clothes then pulled the bike out onto the patio to glow in the soft light from the trailer.

I saw Kathy slowly approaching the bike, then touching it as if it were a person, a loved person. She sat up on the big seat and closed her eyes, dreaming of those days in the past with her beloved Jake caressing the grips, the tank then the seat.

Kathy looked up and saw me, "how long have you been there?"

"Since before you came," I answered "take your time, feel it, enjoy it, love it."

Big tears rolled down her cheeks as she sat on the bike remembering good times with the father of her kids. After about twenty minutes, she got off the bike and said, "let's roll. I want a long ride. No bars just road with the wind in my face."

We took off at a reasonable speed went across the Courtney Campbell causeway, hit US 19 then went over to I275 south, going across the infamous Skyway bridge. We cut down through Palmetto and Bradenton seeing the local hi points of Tamiami Trail then cut over to I75 north heading back toward Tampa. Out on 75 I kicked up to about ninety to give Kathy the thrill of speed. When we got back to Tampa, she wanted to go farther north so we traveled all the way to highway 52 then went West till we hit the Gulf. She wanted to park, so we stopped at a gulf side sandy park and sat on a picnic table. Kathy wanted to kiss, so we kissed. She wanted to play so we played. Finally she dropped her drawers and said, "fuck me, make love to me, do me Jake, one last time."

I felt guilty, like I was taking advantage of her so I gave it my all so she would feel the best of everything. Kathy orgasmed many times till locking her legs around me crying, "fill me Jake, make us another baby, fill me honey."

When we were still, Kathy sobbed for a few minutes then kissed me passionately finally saying, "I love you so much Steve. Damn, I wish you were older and ready to settle down. You would be perfect."

Kathy kissed me a few more times then said, "lets go back."

We rode back at a slower pace with Kathy hugging me tightly whispering in my ear that she was sloshing around on the seat with my juices in her.

Around one, we were back in the park with the bike in the shed. I walked Kathy to her house not knowing what to expect. Glenda and Martin were drowsy, cuddling on the couch watching TV and were happy for Kathy to have had the time out. They left and I looked at Kathy expectantly.

"Please stay," she said "stay and sleep with me."

We stripped then snuggled up under the covers since the air was running. Kathy kissed me for over an hour, just kissing and hugging and touching. She finally said, "one more time, make love to me, one more time."

We made love. Slowly, thoroughly, with love and caring. We knew this could be the farewell loving of our lives together, but wanted it to be as perfect as it could be. Our orgasms lulled us to sleep spooned in a loving position with me hugging Kathy's back.
