Chapter 4

The night went slowly but pleasantly. When I got up in the morning I was expecting to be tired, but I felt good.

We had a quick breakfast of cold food, and everything was packed on the trailer. Then we were off. In just an hour we were pulling into my camp. Everything looked just as it was when we left.

The new girls helped get the trailer unloaded and camp set up. With all the help it only took about fifteen minutes to get everything right again.

As soon as everything was set, Dawn asked, “Andy, will you give the others a name”? I replied, “Dawn, I gave you a name and the others will have one also. I just have to decide what name to give them. But, as I decide I will call them to me and give them their name”.

One girl had long honey blond hair, and she was like a bee, darting here and there, trying to help. I stopped her as she was going by me to help Dawn with something. She had a look of almost terror on her face.

I said, “Do not fear me, because I would never hurt you. I have a name for you. From now on, you will be called Honey, because of the colour of your hair, and you are always trying to help some one, just like a worker bee”. Then I gently kissed her. When she walked off, she was looking around, as if she suddenly found herself in a different place.

One down and four to go!

I sat there and thought about my situation here, where ever here was. The females of the tribe was treated like dirt or worse. They were beaten for almost anything. Yet they were expected to gather eatable plants, cut up the meat when the men brought some home. Do all of the cooking and cleaning. It seemed as if the women were the real workers and the men were a bunch of drones. I didn't think that I could change anything over the entire planet, but I sure was going to change it in my camp.

I went into the container and looked around. I spotted a change right away. A new box was sitting on the floor. I opened it. Inside, were about a dozen compound cross bows, with the step cocking set-up. Under the bows, it was packed with bolts for the bows. Every type from wood with a slightly rounded tip with feather fletching, all the way up to a stainless steal bolt with a four bladed razor tip.

These will be good for the girls, I thought.

I grabbed six of the bows and several packets of the wooden bolts.

I had all of the women gather around. I told them that what I had for them was a new kind of weapon that they could use, for protection or hunting. They didn't believe me.

I asked Dawn to take the others out to the trail.

I got some sticky back targets and more bolts from the container and walked to the trail. I spotted Dawn and the girls hiding from something down the trail. I cocked the bow and put a steel bolt in. Then I eased out to where the girls were hiding. I saw a big buck deer standing at about one hundred and fifty meters. I checked the sight and saw it was adjustable. It was set at one hundred meters. I brought the bow up and sighted just a little high, and pulled the trigger. A soft twang was heard and the buck jumped, and then fell. I cocked the bow and put another bolt in place. The buck had not moved a bit from the place he fell.

I waited about five minutes and then let the women go to the deer. It was as dead as it was ever going to get. It didn't take the girls thirty minutes to gut, skin, and cut the deer into chunks that were easy to carry. Dawn was grinning from ear to ear.

I thought it might be from getting a deer. She said, “The others, did not believe that what you showed then could hurt anything. But you showed them that you speak the truth. It will be much better now”.

The women took everything back to camp. Dawn showed them how to use the smoker. Thirty minutes later, the deer had been sliced and diced, and put in the smoker.

Honey came up to me and said, “You have strange ways of doing things, but they seem so much easier than the old way. I think I am going to like it with you”.

I pulled her to me and kissed her. She struggled for a few seconds but then got into the program.

When the meat was finished Dawn asked me to show them how to use the new weapon. So, back to the trail we went. I stepped off about one hundred meters an put up a couple of targets on a tree. I had brought two bows with me. I gave one to Dawn and kept one as a teaching aid. I showed them how to cock the bow, and how to place the bolt. I showed them the safety and how it would not fire. I ran them through a safety lesson. I taught them how to aim. Then I let Dawn have the first go. She sighted in on the target and then jerked the trigger. Of course the bolt didn't come close to the target. I went to her and she cowered in fear. I gently got her back on her feet and then said, “Dawn, I am not angry at you for missing the target. Try it again, but this time think that the trigger is a small birds egg, and you don't want to break it”.

She tried again and the results were a lot different. She hit the target about a half inch to the right of the ten X ring and the wooden shaft almost exploded. Splinters of wood went everywhere, with the most of them going into the target. Almost all of the black part of the target was obliterated. I would hate to get hit with one of the bolts.

I let the women get ten shots at a target. At the end, I was thinking, “Even if we are attacked, as I had been at the village, we could defend ourselves”.

It was getting on near meal time and Dawn announced, “It is time to make some food for our man”. A mad rush took place, with the women getting back to the camp.

After the evening meal, it was time to get into the bed. I made love to each and every woman in the tent. And from the reaction I got, it was well received.

Sleep took me and the women, but someone kept the fire going all night without waking me.

Yep, What happened kept going all night.
