COMMENTARY: I seem to like stories that take place in remote locations. This one fits that description nicely. Storm Island is a very small island off the southern coast of Australia. Anna likes to go there because she is a geologist and because the island has some unusual fossils and geological formations. Philip goes primarily because she doesn't want to go alone and his father isn't interested in going. The isolation that the island offers probably contributes to the choices Philip and Anna make and actions they take.
Continuing on this theme, the story can be divided into at least three parts. The first part takes place before they get to the island, the second part while they are on the island, and third part after they get back from the island. What strikes me about the first and third parts, other than the fact that they aren't very long, is the fact that Philip and Anna seem more inhibited or conscious of human society during these segments. In the second part, by contrast, they lose some of that consciousness and become more aware of things and feelings that they have suppressed in the past or are attempting to suppress in the present.
Ultimately, Philip and Anna allow themselves to be ruled by baser instincts and not the laws of the society they come from; morphing from mother and son to lovers. The island itself seems to be an agent of the transformation that takes place. It doesn't actively encourage them to do anything, but its simple, uncomplicated setting lulls them into a false sense of security. They drop their guard, enjoy the peace and quiet that the island has to offer, and then find themselves confronted with emotions that would be unthinkable in the outside world. But they aren't in the outside world. They are on Storm Island.
As always it is nice to read a story that consists of more than just sex. Like most of the stories I write about this one wouldn't be quite the same without the sex, but it is nice to see that there is more to it than just the sex.
Okay, Obviously if you do not like incest stories or specifically mother-son incest stories then skip this one. Other than that there really isn't anything objectionable in this story.
