COMMENTARY: If you break it down, this story is told in three parts. The first is a flashback to three years ago. The second provides the details of his returns home for his parent's anniversary. The third focuses on Jack and Jewel trying to untangle the mess that they find themselves in.
There is considerably more sex in the first two parts than there is in the third one. There is considerably more plot development in the third part than there is in the first two. I would have preferred a better mix of sex and plot development throughout the story. I also would have preferred a different ending.
There are two dilemmas in this story. First, Jack has feelings for Jewel (which she reciprocates). Second, is another dilemma that I don't want to talk about for fear of giving too much of the story away. Solutions are found to both of these dilemmas. I wasn't completely satisfied with the solutions, they were a bit too Dickensian for me.
Bottom line? In my opinion this is an excellent, but flawed story. I say flawed, but that's just my opinion. I'm sure that many of you will be more satisfied with the ending than I am.
