The rising sun sneaks in the windowpane
My eyes peep open to sop up its light
Sleep grumbles deeply inside of my veins
Refusing to subside without a fight
My arms stretch upward, releasing the heat
That collected beneath the soft cover
While night crept slowly and waited to meet
The glowing sun that slept but still hovered

I welcome morn with a joy newly found
Since alongside me in slumber you sleep
I look at you in a blanketed mound
Knowing you're here forever to keep
So bring on day in glorious splendor
I've got my love as my fated defender
