Natasha did come back almost 3 months later. There was a knock on his door and Robert answered it to see his Natasha standing there. Thrilled to see her again he invited her in. She had changed a little - more mature looking. Hey sat and talked late into the night. He was surprised that for the first time, she was concerned about their age difference. Before she had tried to hide it but now was concerned he would not like her because she was so young.
He felt the same warmth and bond they shared. Now, although she denied the fact, she seemed somehow distant. She explained how the intensity between them had frightened her. She ran away fearing their passion would consume her. Robert's heart went out to the girl. He had never wanted to hurt her. He asked her to stay and she agreed. Natasha confessed she had missed him terribly. They reached an agreement that she would talk to him if she ever felt uneasy this time before she left him as before.
Being so late, Natasha fell asleep on a chair. Robert covered her with a blanket before retiring to his room. He had trouble falling asleep that night. The conversation between Natasha and him played over in his mind. Finally his anxiety calmed and he fell asleep content for the first time in months.
Robert slept later than usual the next morning. Groggily his eyes opened and he awoke with a start realizing the time. He quickly dressed and went to the sitting room excited to talk more with his beloved Natasha. Sadly he looked around the room. The blanket that had covered the girl was in a heap on the floor but she was nowhere to be found. Frantically he rushed from room to room searching.
After checking and rechecking each room he collapsed into a chair. Natasha was again gone. He hoped she had just gone out for a while but something told him she hadn't. Once more he felt that hollowness without her.
The days again turned to weeks. His life returned to normal again but something was missing. Natasha had taken the piece of his heart she had occupied and tore it from him. He agonized as to the reason why she had left him again. There was no reason he could find, only more questions. Perhaps she would return again, perhaps not. He wondered if she even realized she was carrying part of his heart with her.
