BREAKING! Michael isn't dead.

Wow.

The response has been interesting, to say the least.

Honest to Goddess I haven't thought much about this story since I wrote it back in 2001, but when I reposted it to SOL (this just means I need to get off my ass and repost it to my own goddamn site I suppose) the response has been great.

Y'all have told me, in no uncertain terms, that you do NOT like the ending.

Okay!

Okay!

I hear you.

Wow. To suddenly be thinking about characters and a plot that I had let long be rested has been an interesting event today.

Not sure how some of you are going to feel about the new direction things are going to go, but hope you like it.

Stay tuned. Winking

Questions about Pact With The Devil

I received the following this morning and thought it asked some interesting questions that everyone might enjoy as well:

I thought that this story was exceptional.
However, I was disappointed with the way it
ended. I feel that it should have continued. If
you feel differently, then tell me why you ended
it in this way. He was supposed to live for a
very long time, but he did not. I also thought
he did not learn from his experiences from his
interactions with humans, nor did he feel any
growth, if you know what I mean. In my opinion
you have the beginning from this this story to
write a memorable novel.

I would be very dissappointed if you stopped with
it here. You have a great talent.

I hope that you will consider taking it farther.

Good luck.

While I responded to the person privately, I realized that everyone might be interested in my responses (and also that I didn't address all of their concerns.) So, here goes!

On Continuing The Story…

Others have said similar things, or that they were disappointed with its ending.

The thing is however, the main character Martin (a.k.a. "Michael") was constantly being tortured and tormented by his "Devil" all throughout.

She took great pride in coming up with new and heinous ways to fuck with him. While Martin may have been prompted a very long life in exchange for his "pact," the cost wasn't really worth it (at least in my opinion!) Happy

On Learning From Experiences…

Michael had nothing to learn from his interactions with humans. He was born human. In reality, he was closer to being a human man trapped in a cyborg body more than anything else.

So, thank you NightOwl for your kind words. I hope this answers yours—and others—questions about the story!

[Repost] Pact With The Devil

JULY 30, 2007 (THE INTERNET) — Michael Collins—the nom de guerre of a thirty-five year-old reclusive science-fiction author and Information Technology professional—has re-posted his short story, Pact With The Devil at StoriesOnLine.

"I wrote Pact With The Devil back in 2001 as an experiment. I had never written anything like it before," he says.

The story features the main character, Martin, who upon hearing of his imminent demise is offered a deal by the Devil to become immortal. Only, things don't turn out well for Martin (now Michael, as his new persona) with the Devil constantly torturing and humiliating our character throughout.

Readers should be cautioned that some of the scenes are quite graphic and gruesome. This is first and foremost a sex story, but the author has intended to throw in some juxtapositions making it unlike any sex story the reader may have read.

Special thanks goes out to Michael Martin for his proofreading and editing to help get the story polished up for re-posting.

Pact With The Devil will be available on CyberCzar's website within the next few days. Once it becomes available, a notice will be posted.
