The Bedtime Tales of Be287m

Dealing with the Devil, Chapter Two

“Rodney Fortner!” Regan said, “you know you’re supposed to leave your coat and boots in the entryway!”

“Sorry, babe,” he said with a grin that was anything but apologetic. “I forgot. But I brought you something.” He reached into his bag and extracted a small box with a bow.

Regan approached, a little hesitant, and took the package.

“Open it,” Rod urged.

“Oh, Rod,” she said, pulling a diamond necklace out and holding it up for us all to see. It sparkled brightly from the number of stones, but wasn’t garish.

“I told you I was sorry,” Rod said.

“You’ve said that before,” Regan replied, her lips twisting in a small frown. That didn’t stop her from undoing the clasp of the necklace and putting it on. Margot and Hayley crowded in front of her, oohing and aahing.

“I have to find a mirror,” Regan announced. She turned and headed for the hall, Margot in tow.

Rod turned to the Pikes. “Let’s ditch our gear.” They headed back down the stairs.

Patricia looked at me. “I’m surprised Rod picked out something so tasteful.”

“Oh, I helped him pick it out,” Hayley said.

Patricia and I both turned and stared at her.

“Just helping them get back together,” Hayley said. “What did you expect?”

“No idea,” Patricia muttered, too low for Hayley to hear.

Rusty was the first Pike back up the stairs. Patricia’s face lit up and she threw her arms around him, hugging him fiercely.

John and Tommy returned to the foyer almost simultaneously. Both of them looked around without saying much more than hello. John’s eyes paused on Cassie for a while, looking her up and down. Tommy and Hayley exchanged nods. Then Rod arrived. Neil was the last to appear. He settled against one wall, waiting.

A few minutes later, Regan and Margot returned.

“Thank you, Rod,” Regan said sweetly.

Rod smiled. “Am I forgiven?”

“Not yet,” she said, “but you’re off to a good start.”

Rod frowned, but nodded.

“So where do we put our bags?” Tommy asked.

“Oh,” Regan said, turning her attention to the larger group. “Well, for tonight, Rod and Neil have the room at the end of that hall.” She pointed to what I’d already started calling the ‘guys’ hallway. “That might change later,” she said with a meaningful look at Rod. “John and Rusty are in the next room, at least until Rusty and Patricia head out. Tommy should dump his stuff there, too.”

“Just dump my stuff?” Tommy asked. “So where do I sleep?”

“Tonight you sleep with me,” Hayley said, her eyebrows wiggling suggestively.

The other guys sniggered a little, but Tommy shrugged it off.

“You sure we’ll sleep?” he asked, feigning innocence.

The sniggers turned to chuckles.

“I’m sure we’ll sleep sometime,” Hayley purred. She glanced around and grinned.

“Of course, the sooner you guys get your stuff put away, the sooner we can think about not sleeping.”

The room filled with a chorus of general jokes of agreement and most of the crowd headed down to the guys’ rooms, Patricia walking arm in arm with Rusty and Margot clinging to Neil. In a few moments, only Gina, Cassie, and I remained, three temporarily single women by themselves.

Gina and Cassie returned to their card game. Since I had nothing to do, I wandered over. Cassie drew a card and studied her hand.

“Nice to see Regan standing up to Rod,” I said.

Gina looked up at me and sighed. “I keep telling her this is what he does,” she said. She shrugged. “I mean, she comes to me every time they break up.”

“Cry on your shoulder?”

“More like rant.”

“Oh.”

“Regan is so much happier and fun to be with when they’re not together,” Gina said. Cassie discarded, which drew Gina’s attention back to the game.

“I believe that,” I said. “What I don’t understand is why she keeps taking him back.”

Gina drew a card and immediately discarded it. She looked up at me while Cassie took her turn. “It’s... it’s hard to explain,” she said. “She thinks she needs him, I guess. I think she might even be willing to ignore him having sex with other girls if he was smarter about it.” She snorted softly. “But he’s not.”

“What do you mean?” I asked. I waited while she drew and discarded again.

Cassie’s eyes darted between us as she listened, but she didn’t say anything.

“He tries to sneak around,” Gina said, “but he’s not very good at it, and he always gets caught. So everyone knows he cheated, and she knows she looks like an idiot if she doesn’t dump him.”

“Oh,” I said. “So he’s stupid for getting caught.”

“And for sneaking around,” Gina added. “Regan doesn’t sneak around when she... you know... does it with girls, and that’s okay.”

“So you think it’d be okay if he got her permission first?” I asked, skeptical.

Gina paused. “I don’t know,” she said finally. “They don’t talk about it, though. They just ‘get together’ or ‘break up.’ Repeatedly.”

“Maybe someday they’ll break the pattern,” I said.

“I hope so,” Gina said with a sigh. “I keep telling her not to get back together with him, but...." She shrugged. “I think Rod would have to do something really outrageous for her to do that.”

“And cheating on her isn’t outrageous enough?”

“Apparently not.”

Cassie drew another card and then laid down her entire hand. “Gin,” she said softly. She didn’t have time to savor her win, though, because the rest of the gang returned to the main room, talking loudly among themselves.

Regan didn’t have a dinner choice picked out this time, which kind of surprised me. Rod and Hayley threw out some suggestions and other people chimed in. We finally ended up going to a steak place. Once I tasted the food, I realized I should have pushed for something else. Fortunately, the food didn’t taste as bad after several glasses of wine.

We stopped for more alcohol on the way back to the chalet. While the guys ran into the liquor store, Patricia went to talk with Regan in the other car. When we returned to the chalet, Patricia pulled Cassie, Gina, and me aside.

“Can Cassie stay with you guys tonight?” she asked. “Regan says there’s a folding bed we can get out of storage. That way Rusty can stay with me.”

“Why can’t you move into Rusty’s room?” Gina asked.

Patricia grimaced. “Margot wants to move in so she can be with Neil. I thought we might be able to make it musical rooms and have Cassie move in with Regan—”

“But Regan’s room only has one bed,” Cassie said, interrupting.

“But it’s queen-sized, right?” Gina asked.

“Yeah,” Cassie said. Her eyes darted to Patricia, silently pleading. The older girl gave her a firm nod before turning back to us.

“It’s just tonight and tomorrow night,” Patricia said.

Gina and I looked at each other and shrugged.

“Sure,” I said. “Not a problem.”

“Great!” Patricia said. “Cassie and I’ll get the roll-away bed.”

The two of them headed off. Gina and I returned to our room to clear some space.

“You know, I was supposed to be Regan’s roommate,” she said. “At least that’s what I thought until she made her announcement when we got here.”

Oh. That’s interesting.

“She must have changed her mind,” I said. “I hope you don’t mind.”

Gina grinned. “No, I don’t mind. I’ll get more sleep this way.”

Cassie, Patricia, and Rusty arrived minutes later. We set the bed up quickly and Cassie moved her luggage in.

“See y’all in the morning,” Patricia said as she and Rusty headed for their room.

“Going to hang out the ‘do not disturb sign’?” I teased.

“If we had one,” she shot back with a leer.

That seemed to be the general idea when Gina and I wandered back into the main room. Margot and Neil were moving her stuff down to their new room, and she had an urgent hunger in her eyes. Rod and Regan were nowhere to be seen, but somehow I suspected weren’t doing anything amorous yet.

“Hot tub?” Gina asked, tilting her head toward the deck.

“Sure,” I said.

“But what about the guys?” Cassie asked.

Gina shrugged. “What about them?”

“Regan said no suits in the hot tub,” Cassie said.

“So we’ll tell the guys that if they want to join us,” Gina said.

Cassie looked at me and I shrugged. She paused and then nodded.

“I want something to drink, though,” I said.

“The guys bought peppermint schnapps,” Gina reminded me.

“Mmm, good idea,” I said. “I think there’s hot chocolate in the kitchen. How about if I fix some and meet you in the tub?”

Gina agreed, and she and Cassie padded out to the deck. In the kitchen, I heated the cocoa and added a liberal splash of the liqueur. Given how tense I felt, I could use a little to loosen up. I decided to bring the bottle to the tub in case we wanted to refresh our drinks.

Walking to the tub, I realized I was tense because of the guys. I didn’t like Rod being here, and I didn’t like the way they’d been invited. I particularly didn’t like that I hadn’t been asked.

Gina and Cassie were already settled in the water when I arrived. They thanked me for the drinks and I shed my clothes and joined them.

“This feels good,” Cassie said, setting her drink on the side and swirling her hands through the bubbling water.

“It does,” Gina said. “We have one at home. At my parent’s house, I mean.”

“You’re lucky,” Cassie said. “If I had one, I’m not sure I’d ever get out. As it is, my mother has a hard time getting me out of the bath. It’s nice.”

“What makes it nice?” Gina asked, pulling Cassie’s attention away from the water in front of her.

Cassie talked about her house and Gina told us about what had happened when her family had their house built. I kept our drinks filled, at least until the bottle was half empty. I set it on the edge of the tub just as Hayley opened the door to the deck.

“Mind if we join you?” she asked.

Tommy and John trailed behind her. Their eyes roamed over the three of us in the tub.

I did mind, but objecting wouldn’t be worth it.

“We brought rum and Coke,” Tommy said, holding up a large bottle of each.

“We need new glasses,” Gina said, holding up her hot chocolate mug.

Hayley turned to John, who doubled back into the chalet. Then she stripped off her clothes and boosted herself onto the edge of the tub. She paused, fully exposed, until John and Tommy had both slipped into the water. Then she settled in between them.

“Quiet night,” Hayley said once she was in the water. “Where are Patricia and Rusty?”

“In their room,” Cassie said. “They don’t want to be disturbed.”

“I can understand that,” Hayley said. “Nothing beats a hard cock.” Tommy and John both stiffened at her last word and Hayley grinned salaciously. Her hands weren’t visible through the bubbles, but I had a strong suspicion where they were.

Her showing off annoyed me. “I’m surprised you’re not enjoying one right now,” I said.

Hayley turned and stared at me, smiling. “Oh, but I will be, Jess,” she said, “just as soon as Regan and Rod are done talking.”

“What do Regan and Rod have to do with it?” Cassie asked.

“I’m out of coke,” Hayley said, “and fucking is so much better with a little blow. Don’t you agree, Jess?”

“I wouldn’t know,” I said testily. Then I smirked. “It’s good enough for me without it.”

“Really?” Hayley said, and then paused to sip her drink. “Do you think Barry would agree?”

“Barry wouldn’t like it,” I snapped. Why was she bringing up Barry again?

“How do you know?” Hayley asked, her eyes wide in that feigned innocent look I’d come to hate. “Maybe you should suggest it to him.”

“I’d have to be pretty drunk to do that,” I shot back.

Hayley froze for a moment, and then her grin grew broader. “Okay, Jess. Whatever you say.”

Speaking of drunk... I was really woozy. I hoisted myself onto the edge of the tub and out of the worst of the steam. It only helped a little. I glanced down at my empty glass. Between the wine, the schnapps, and the rum, how much had I drunk? Too much. Sitting on the edge of the tub, I realized I was also having trouble with my balance.

“I gotta go,” I said, getting out of the tub.

“Have a good night,” Hayley called after me as I stumbled back into the chalet and dashed for the bathroom.

I didn’t get sick, but I didn’t feel very good either. I decided that I’d had enough and didn’t return to the tub. I could get my clothes in the morning. Instead, I headed back to my room and crawled into bed. Sometime later I mercifully fell asleep.

* * *

The next morning I awoke with a massive hangover. The hell with skiing, I thought. I got out of bed long enough to use the bathroom and get some aspirin and water. Then it was back to bed.

When I finally rose around noon, I had the chalet to myself. Or at least no one was stirring. I dredged up some coffee in the kitchen and found a few rolls left over from breakfast. I didn’t feel like eating much else. I wandered aimlessly around the great room, before deciding that I wanted to just sit and read in front of the fireplace. I dug out my mystery novel and settled into a comfortable lounge chair.

The light streaming through the big windows had just started to fade when the downstairs door banged open. Several voices followed, all female. I recognized Patricia and she sounded annoyed. I marked my page and put my book down. Hayley, Regan, and Patricia reached the top of the stairs, apparently still in the middle of an argument. Cassie trailed silently behind them.

“It’d be so fun,” Hayley said. “And different! Not the same old boring party that we’ve had a dozen times before.”

“It’s a bad idea,” Patricia said. “Even if you could get everybody to go along with it, there are too many ways things could go wrong.”

“Oh, they can’t go that wrong,” Hayley said, her face a mock pout.

I motioned Cassie over. “What are they talking about?”

“Strip poker. Hayley wants to get a game going with the guys tonight.”

“What’s the big deal about that?” I asked. “Half the guys saw us naked last night in the hot tub.”

“Hayley wants to include dares for the people who’ve lost all their clothes.”

“Oh.”

Patricia and Hayley had gone another round in their verbal sparring match while I’d been talking with Cassie. When I looked back, they were glaring at each other.

Hayley turned to Regan. “C’mon, Regan, you think it’ll be fun.”

“I... I don’t know,” Regan said. “It’d be fun if it was just us girls, but I’m not sure about the guys.”

“What’s wrong with the guys playing?” Hayley asked. “I mean, you like Neil and Tommy.”

Regan nodded in agreement, but Gina grimaced.

“Okay, but you’d at least get to see them doing stuff naked. Maybe doing stuff for you,” Hayley said. “And it’s not like it’d be cheating on Rod, because he’d be part of the party too.”

Regan crossed her arms and glared at Hayley. “I don’t know....”

“Well, let’s go talk about it,” Hayley replied. She took Regan’s arm and steered her toward the hall.

Regan shook her arm free, but still accompanied Hayley to her room.

We watched her go, and then I turned to Patricia. “Strip poker with dares?” I said. “You’re kidding.”

Patricia rolled her eyes. “I wish I were,” she said. “It’s a pretty dumb thing for Hayley to propose.”

I nodded in agreement.

“Look, Rusty and I are going out for Chinese. Would you two like to join us?” She gestured to Cassie and me.

Chinese sounded great. Since Rusty had already rented a car to visit his brother, we didn’t have to coordinate with Regan or anyone else. We did see Gina on our way out the door and let her know where we were headed. She told us to have a good time and we escaped without seeing Hayley or Regan.

When we returned, music blared from the main room. We reached the top of the stairs and saw Regan and Hayley bent over the silver tray. Margot and Neil were making out on one of the couches, and he had his hand under her shirt. Gina was talking with John and Tommy, all three holding drinks. Rod just sat back and took in the room. He lazily grinned at us.

“Want some blow?” he asked, gesturing toward the tray.

“No thanks,” Patricia said before any of us could speak up.

“Suit yourself,” he said.

Regan and Hayley finished their lines and walked toward us.

“Ready for some poker?” Hayley asked, a leer in her voice. “Everyone else wants to play.”

“We’ll pass,” Patricia said. She turned to Rusty, who looked a little bewildered. “C’mon, hon,” she said, “let’s go see if there’s dancing somewhere in town.”

“On Sunday night?” he asked.

“You’re right,” Patricia said. “Bad night. Let’s go to our room.”

“Can I come?” Cassie asked. “I mean....”

Patricia stared at Hayley.

Hayley didn’t blink.

“Sure,” Patricia said, her eyes still on Hayley. “We can talk. Or get our own deck of cards and play something sane.” She turned and strode off.

I watched Hayley grin, her eyes following them down the hall. “Are you going to play, Jess?” she asked.

“No thanks. I’ll just watch.”

“Suit yourself. You might enjoy it, though.”

I just shook my head and headed to the bar. Once there, I remembered the previous night and the resulting hangover. I decided that tonight I could survive on 7-Up.

Hayley called for everyone’s attention and motioned for them to sit in a loose circle around one of the tables. I eased onto a chair off to the side that had a good view. Hayley shuffled the cards and waited until everyone was settled.

“So here are the rules,” she began. “We’re playing strip poker with two twists. The first twist is, we’re in teams. Each team plays one hand. The second twist is the dares. So first the teams—Rod and Regan,” they nodded, already sitting together, “Neil and Margot, me and Tommy, Gina and John.”

“Um... I’m not so sure about this,” Gina said, her eyes darting to John.

“Okay, then you’re with me,” Hayley said. “Tommy and John can be a team.”

The guys looked at each other sourly, but neither objected.

Gina considered for a moment, but then nodded. She moved awkwardly around to sit next to Hayley. She was really drunk, I realized.

“So, the game is standard five card draw, no wilds,” Hayley continued. “Each team with the lowest hand removes an item of clothing. When you’re out of clothes, your team has to do a dare.”

“But only with your team partner,” Regan said, looking sidelong at Rod. “You don’t have to touch anyone else.”

“Uh....” Tommy raised his hand and began to object.

Hayley looked at him. “They don’t have to involve touching your partner,” she said. “We’ll pick dares for you two that you’re willing to do. Don’t worry.”

Tommy looked uncertain, but lowered his hand.

“Any questions?” Hayley asked the group. A general murmur arose, and Margot asked for a repeat of the rules since she hadn’t been listening the first time. When Hayley finished, she dealt the first hand.

Surprisingly quickly, each team lost their outer clothes. The hands didn’t seem to take long to play. Only John and Tommy wore shirts and pants when Rod stood up and went to the bar. Hayley paused, the cards half dealt. Everyone else followed Rod’s lead for new drinks or a line of Rod’s coke.

Hayley’s eyes followed the departing players, but she didn’t seem to notice me, tucked into my corner. I watched as she quickly peeked at some of the other teams’ hands and then moved some of the cards between piles. Wait a minute!

Margot wandered over and asked if I was having fun, interrupting my thoughts. I said I was, and she invited me to join her team. I declined, but did move so that I was across the circle from Hayley and could see her more clearly.

As soon as everyone was settled back at the table, Hayley continued dealing. After several hands, Regan and Rod lost enough to be fully nude. Margot stared at Rod’s semi-hard dick and he leaned back, leaving it all on display. Regan whispered something to him. He frowned, but didn’t shift his position.

Margot and Neil lost the next round. They joked as Neil pulled off Margot’s bra, fondling her breasts as he did. I watched Hayley pick up the discards again, shoving most of them into the middle of the deck but putting a few on top. She made a comment to Rod, who stood up and went to the bar. All eyes except mine followed him as he strode, nude, over to the cocaine. Hayley rearranged the order of a couple of cards on the top of the deck and began dealing as Rod returned, carrying the tray. She paused long enough to bump up when the tray was passed. Then the game resumed.

Hey... Hayley hadn’t shuffled!

She was cheating!

Except that she and Gina promptly lost the next two rounds and became the second fully nude team. Either I was wrong, or Hayley wasn’t very good at it.

It didn’t seem to matter because the next round Neil and Margot lost again, joining the ranks of the unclothed. Tommy and John high-fived each other in celebration of their ‘skill’ in poker.

Rod gestured for the tray, and the game paused as everyone took their turn with it. I just sat quietly, nursing my 7-Up.

With all eyes following the tray of coke, no one but me paid attention as Hayley picked up the cards. She put the pair of aces that Tommy and John had shown onto the top of the deck and the rest of the cards on the bottom. Once again, she didn’t shuffle. That didn’t make sense. Rod and Regan and the guys would get the aces, not her. Hayley was screwing up.

“Ready for dares?” Hayley asked as soon as everyone was done and she had their attention again.

Regan rolled her eyes, but didn’t object, particularly when Rod put his arm around her.

Hayley dealt the cards slowly, playing up the drama. She did the same when she asked how many cards each team wanted—teasing them about how lucky they felt. Tommy razzed her back and Margot just giggled. But everyone cheered when the cards were flipped over.

Everyone except Hayley and Gina, that is, since they had lost.

Tommy and John chanted, “Kiss! Kiss! Kiss!”

Hayley laughed, and Gina just rolled her eyes. She seemed reluctant, but kept biting her lower lip. The peer pressure must be getting to her.

Neil joined in the chant, “Kiss! Kiss! Kiss!”

Margot started clapping to the beat.

Hayley turned to Gina and held out her arms, smiling.

Gina bit her lip harder, but didn’t resist as Hayley pulled her close.

Hayley wasn’t going for any chaste kiss, and quickly slid her tongue into Gina’s mouth. The rest of the crowd broke out cheering. I rolled my eyes. After a moment, Gina wrapped her arms around Hayley and returned the kiss. Both were breathing hard when they finally parted. The cheering rose to a crescendo and then died away. I quickly glanced at the others.

Neil was hard, sporting a respectable erection, as were Tommy and John. But Rod was still only semi-hard.

I spent some time admiring their dicks. It had been way too long since I’d seen a nice one, much less several at once. All the benefits of playing, without having to join the game.

Margot and Neil lost the next hand, and Tommy and John started their “Kiss!” chant again. Margot didn’t wait, though.

“You want a good kiss?” she asked, teasing.

The guys cheered louder.

With a grin, Margot lowered her head and took Neil’s dick in her mouth. He groaned and lay back.

The others laughed and tittered. I didn’t quite know what to think. Maybe Patricia had been right, and it was too easy for this to get out of control. I wondered if I should leave. Except that I was enjoying watching. No one seemed to mind me being there, either.

I was also getting worked up. Part of it was from the general excitement and part of it... well, part of it was obvious.

Hayley finally tapped Margot on the shoulder, getting her to stop sucking Neil.

“We need to do another round,” Hayley said.

Margot nodded, flushed and breathing heavy.

Neil looked crestfallen, but slowly sat back up.

Regan grimaced when she saw her hand in the new round. She looked at Rod, who ignored her. I wondered what they’d do if they lost the hand.

They didn’t. Hayley and Gina lost instead.

Tommy started to chant again, but he didn’t need to. Hayley wrapped her arms around Gina and kissed her, pushing her backward as she did. They slowly sank to the floor, Gina on her back and Hayley half draped over her.

I let out a deep breath, surprised and aroused. I moved to a different couch so I could see better. I found a spot with an unobstructed view of Gina’s face as Hayley began kissing her way down the darker girl’s torso.

Gina closed her eyes. Hayley kissed the tops of her breasts and then captured one nipple between her fingers, lightly stroking and pulling. Gina sighed. Hayley quickly glanced at the others.

Rod was now hard, slowly stroking his erection. Regan sat close, stealing glances at it. Neil didn’t have to stroke his own dick because Margot already had both hands around it.

Hayley crooked a finger at Margot, beckoning her over. Neil let out an exasperated groan as Margot released him and moved away. She sank to the floor and took Gina’s other breast in her mouth. So much for only touching within a team, I thought.

Regan pushed away from Rod and stood up. She walked unsteadily to the bar. She paused, leaning on the bar, not facing the room. She hung her head in her hands. Rod didn’t make a move to follow her. I decided I’d better.

“You okay?” I asked, sliding up next to her.

Regan’s head jerked wildly. She slowly focused on my face, bouncing her head as she did so. “Wha...? ” she slurred. “Oh, Jess. I... I’m okay.”

“You sure?”

“Yeah... yeah.” She turned around and looked at the room, but again leaned back on the bar. Margot was now lapping at Gina’s pussy while Hayley caressed both of Gina’s breasts.

“You don’t look fine,” I said to Regan. “Is it Rod?”

She bit her lip.

“He says he wants me,” she suddenly spat, “but then he doesn’t get it up for me! He has to watch Hayley and Gina go at it!”

“Well....” I really didn’t know what to say. I didn’t particularly think the state of Rod’s erection was a crime, but I also didn’t want to defend him.

“Fucking bastard,” Regan said. She grabbed a bottle of vodka and took a deep slug. Then she looked at me and sneered. Again, her eyes didn’t track me very well. “I’ll show him.”

Regan tottered over to the other girls. Gina was in the middle of her orgasm, shuddering and going stiff. As Margot pulled back, her face shiny with Gina’s juices, Regan grabbed the blonde and shoved her tongue into her mouth. I guess she was going to show Rod. Margot recovered from her surprise and returned the forceful kiss. Gina had enough wherewithal to scramble out of the way as Margot and Regan crashed to the floor.

I glanced at the guys. They were openly jerking off, but none had dared approach the girls. Sideways glances from Neil and Tommy at Rod suggested why. He just lounged back, giving no hint about joining in.

Meanwhile, Regan was practically sucking Margot’s face off. Hayley whispered something in Gina’s ear, and Gina knelt between Margot’s spread thighs. Margot gasped as Gina began to lick.

I glanced back at the guys. Rod was leaning forward now, still lightly touching himself. I looked closer. His dick was huge! The other guys weren’t so well endowed, but all of them were respectable.

It had been way too long. I’d felt Barry’s dick through his pants and knew he could measure up, but he’d never let me see it or play with it. I wanted to see it, just like I was seeing these. I wanted to play with it. Touch it. Caress it. Suck it....

My blood was pounding now. I sat back, admiring the four hard dicks while listening to the moans and soft cries of the women.

Yes, that was plural. Regan had straddled Margot’s face and was moaning as the blonde tongued her. Hayley had moved around behind Gina’s upturned ass and was rubbing her clit. With a wicked grin, she thrust two fingers inside Gina. Gina jerked in surprise, but didn’t look back. Hayley grinned at the watching guys.

That’s when Regan pitched forward with a moan. Her arm caught a glass on a nearby table and sent it flying against the fireplace. It shattered, sending shards flying everywhere.

I hurried over and turned off the stereo, which brought the room to a halt. The girls untangled from each other to see what had happened.

“Anyone hurt?” I asked.

Miraculously, no one was.

I gestured at Margot, who hurried off and returned with a dust broom and pan. She started cleaning things up while everyone else migrated over to the bar. I helped Margot.

“We can start over after they’re done,” Hayley said with a jerk of her head toward us.

Her suggestion was greeted with silence. Tommy and John didn’t look up from the drinks they were pouring. Regan just shrugged.

“Actually, I think I’m going to take Neil back to our room,” Margot said.

Hayley looked at the others. Regan was looking at Rod, but he was watching Hayley intently.

Regan tugged on Rod’s arm. “You can sleep with me tonight, Rod.”

“Uh, sure babe,” he said, looking annoyed. Then he paused, and smiled. “That is, if you’re ready for the Ram Rod.”

Regan looked at Rod and gave him a drunken smile. Then she tugged him toward the door. He glanced over his shoulder at Hayley, who only frowned.

“I guess the party’s over,” Tommy said to Hayley.

She curled her lip. “For tonight,” she said, her tone flat. She scanned the room and then looked at me and frowned. “But we can go back to our room,” she said to Tommy.

He nodded and walked over to the discarded clothing. He picked his own out of the pile and left the rest.

In a few minutes, only Gina, John, and I remained.

“I don’t suppose you two...,” John began.

Gina and I shook our heads.

John nodded in disgust. Then he turned and stomped toward the hall. “I don’t know why I even came on this trip,” he muttered, loud enough for us both to hear.

I turned to Gina. “Now what?”

Gina exhaled and then closed her eyes for a moment. She looked a little unsteady on her feet. When she opened her eyes she had trouble focusing. “I think I want to soak in the hot tub for a while,” she replied. “I’m too worked up to sleep right now.”

I nodded. “Mind if I join you?”

Gina agreed and we soon sank into the warmth. Unfortunately, she crashed faster than she’d expected, probably because she’d drunk heavily and only used the coke lightly. She said she was going to head to bed, and I wished her well.

After she left, I relaxed in the quiet under the stars. My mind played back images of the evening; the hard dicks, the cries of the girls. I realized I had complete privacy, since everyone else was busy. I let my fingers wander down my stomach and across my mound. My orgasm arrived as I was remembering Gina on her knees, licking Margot. Satiated, I made my way back to bed.

* * *

The next morning I awoke reasonably early, feeling rested and clear-headed. Definitely beats a hangover. Gina stirred a little later, and we tag-teamed through the bathroom before getting dressed. At breakfast we ran into several of the others. Most smiled and laughed, making sly references to the previous evening. Only Regan looked sour. I talked to her quietly when we were both filling our plates.

“Everything go okay last night?” I asked.

“No.”

I looked at her inquisitively, but she didn’t say more.

I returned to my room and got ready for a day of skiing. Gina slipped out, saying she had to talk to Regan, so I wandered back to the main room, where I met Patricia. She was packed and waiting for Rusty.

“I’m going to miss you,” I said, settling beside her on the couch.

“Ah, Jess, you’ll be having too much fun to miss me.”

I sighed. “A bunch of pledges I’m still getting to know and Hayley.”

“You can handle Hayley,” Patricia said.

“Maybe. She’s up to something, but I don’t know what.”

Gina, Regan, and Cassie entered the room, dressed for skiing, headed toward the foyer.

“You can always push to get her expelled from the sorority if she does anything really bad,” Patricia said. “After what happened with that Kendall girl, it wouldn’t be any problem.”

“Kendall?” Gina asked, stopping in her tracks. “Did you say Kendall?”

“C’mon,” Regan said, tugging on Gina’s arm. “We’ll miss the shuttle. I’ll tell you about it on the way.” Gina eventually nodded, and the two of them disappeared down the stairs.

Cassie was still standing a few feet away. “What happened with Hayley and this girl?” she asked.

I sighed and Patricia jumped in to answer.

“Hayley got her drunk and high at a party, so she’d have sex with one of the Pikes. Then Hayley rounded up a bunch of people to watch.”

“What happened then?” Cassie asked.

“Neither of us were there,” I said. “And the stories were all over the place. So, it was hard to tell what the truth was.”

Patricia snorted. “You know what it was. Don’t give her the benefit of the doubt.”

I looked at Patricia and saw the fire in her eyes. After a moment I nodded and turned back to Cassie.

“A few days later, Patricia and a couple of others tried to expel Hayley from the sorority. They said what she’d done was basically rape.”

“It was,” Patricia hissed. “And if enough of the other girls had been willing to stand up to her....”

“It wasn’t a case of standing up to her,” I said. “A lot of them couldn’t believe she’d deliberately do something that awful. They didn’t believe she’d set another woman up like that.”

“But she would,” Cassie said. She stared out into space.

“Yes, she would,” Patricia said. “The name ‘Hayley Devil’ really fits her.”

Cassie looked up at Patricia and me. “I know,” she said. Then she glanced toward the foyer. “I have to go,” she said suddenly, and left.

“Keep an eye on her, Jess,” Patricia murmured.

“Who? Cassie?”

“Yes, Cassie,” Patricia said. “She’s a good girl, but she’s too scared to stand up for herself. The other night, in the hot tub… she didn’t want to go down on Hayley. But she didn’t say anything, so I didn’t stop it. She told me after, but by then….”

“Wow.” I’d thought Cassie would have said something too. I let my gaze linger at the spot where Cassie had stood for a few moments, remembering her actions from the all-girl orgy when she hadn’t refused Hayley’s orders. Rusty’s arrival shook my attention back to the present.

“Ready?” he asked Patricia. She jumped up and nodded.

“Have a good time, you two,” I said.

They said they would, and left.

I was debating whether I wanted to try to catch up to Cassie, Gina, and the others, or see if Margot was ready to go. While I was stalling, John entered and saw me.

“Hey,” he asked, “where is everybody?”

“Rusty and Patricia just left for his brother’s,” I said. “Regan, Gina, and Cassie are already on their way to the slopes.”

“Oh,” he said. “So Cassie’s already left.”

Cassie? I wondered. I thought John barely knew her. “I think you can catch up to her,” I said out loud. “That is, if you’re ready to go.”

“I’m ready,” he said. “I was going to wait for Tommy, but he hasn’t come out of Hayley’s room yet.”

“Ah...” and Margot was probably still in bed with Neil, I realized. “Well, I was about to hit the slopes myself. Maybe we’ll catch up to Cassie together.”

“Cool,” John said.

I took that as a yes and grabbed my stuff. While we were waiting for the shuttle, I turned to him.

“So... Cassie,” I said. “I didn’t know you were interested in her.”

John looked at me, surprised at my comment, but shrugged noncommittally. “Hayley said she’d invite one of the pledges so I wouldn’t be the odd guy out.”

“Oh?” I said. That was curious. Cassie had been invited when I had—at least a week before the guys.

“Yeah,” he said. Then he looked down the road at the approaching shuttle.

“But you knew her before this trip,” I pressed.

He shrugged again. “I’ve met her. She’s cute. Doesn’t talk much.”

“True,” I said. “She’s pretty quiet. You have to talk to her one-on-one to get anything out of her.”

He nodded and a made a small grunt as the shuttle pulled up.

We didn’t talk any more until we’d gotten to the resort. Unfortunately, we didn’t see Cassie or anyone we knew.

“You don’t want to wait for any of the others?” he asked as I started toward the lift line.

“Who knows where they are,” I said. “We’ll probably run into them sooner or later. Besides, you came to ski, didn’t you?”

He grunted. “I’ve never been skiing before this trip,” he said. “I took lessons yesterday, but I can’t go back to being with the little kids. That sucked.”

“Yeah,” I agreed, remembering my first lessons when the ten-year-olds skied circles around me. But something nagged at me as I thought about John’s words. “So... if you don’t ski, why’d you come?”

“I got invited.”

“But if you don’t ski, why did you get invited?” I pushed.

John looked at me, his eyes narrow. “I did Rod and Hayley a favor,” he answered warily.

“Don’t you mean Rod and Regan?”

“Yeah. Rod and Regan,” he said. He turned away, cutting off the conversation.

I stood there, wondering what to say next when we heard a familiar yell from behind us.

“John! Wait up!” It was Rod, with Neil trailing behind him. They quickly caught up to us, pushing ahead of some guys that were headed our way. The guys complained, but Rod turned and said something I couldn’t quite hear, other than the tone was insulting and nasty. The guys backed down.

“Where’s Margot?” I asked.

“Hung over,” Neil said. “We’ll meet her at the lodge at noon if she is feeling better.”

I nodded.

Rod was bragging to Neil about how great they were going to ski that day, flying off moguls and outracing the pansies down the slope. We were quickly at the front of the line and John and Rod ended up in one lift chair with Neil and me in the other.

Neil and I didn’t talk much on the way up. Rod and Neil immediately took off down a run at high speed. John’s body sagged, watching their backs. He glanced at me and I waved toward a gentler run. He shook his head and then slowly began snowplowing after the other guys. I hoped John didn’t break his neck trying to keep up with Rod and Neil, but he’d made his choice.

That got me thinking about John’s comments as I enjoyed a slow, relaxed run. He’d slipped when he mentioned he’d done a favor for Rod and Hayley. He wasn’t sleeping with Hayley, or at least not yet. So what was it? The only other thing I knew about John’s involvement with this trip was his conversation with Rusty about Rusty’s brother. And how could that be a favor? All John had done was encourage Rusty to go visit his brother this trip.

Oh. Of course. Rod didn’t want Rusty on the trip! He couldn’t avoid inviting him, but now Rusty was gone. I recalled what Patricia had told me about the guys getting invited. Immediately after Rusty had gotten the grudging invitation, John had talked to him about his brother. And that was after Rusty had told Rod about visiting his brother.

I couldn’t prove it, of course, but it made sense. Rod owed John for that conversation. But Rod could still have refused to invite Rusty in the first place. So it didn’t make sense. I was still missing something.

Okay, if talking to Rusty was a favor for Rod, was it also a favor for Hayley?

Hayley had something planned, I was sure. But I didn’t see how Rusty’s absence would make much of a difference.

Patricia’s would, I realized in a flash of insight.

It was exactly what I’d said to Patricia this morning. With her gone, it was just me and the pledges. Margot wasn’t a threat to whatever Hayley had planned; if she even noticed, she’d probably just go along with the older girl. I suspected that Regan could stand up to Hayley, but that assumed she wanted to. Gina would find it hard, and Cassie would find it impossible.

That had to be it. It not only explained why John’s favor was for both Rod and Hayley, but why Rod hadn’t just told Rusty to take a hike. That would have gotten rid of Rusty. This got rid of both Rusty and Patricia.

The sun dipped behind a cloud and I felt chilled. And very alone. I still didn’t know what Hayley was planning, but my best guess was that it involved Cassie. If it did, Hayley’s next step was obvious: she had to get me out of the way, too.

Well, the best defense was a good offense. Hayley couldn’t sink her claws into Cassie if I was watching. Maybe if I confronted her, it would stop her from even trying. She might leave Cassie alone completely. Or at least until Patricia returned and could do something about it.

I quit at the end of my run and hung around the lift lines and the lodge, watching for Hayley. I got lucky. She showed up with Tommy and Margot before the rest of the gang made it down from their most recent runs.

“Hayley!” I yelled. “Got a minute?”

She left Tommy and Margot, who headed over to the snack bar to get some food.

“What is it, Jess?” she asked, turning on the charm. Not that it was going to work.

“I know you’re up to something this trip,” I said firmly. “You got rid of Patricia, but you’re not going to get rid of me.”

“I don’t know what you’re talking about,” she said, but her voice was too smooth, too practiced.

“Yes you do!” I said. “I’ll be keeping an eye on Cassie.”

Hayley snorted and looked at me in disbelief. Then she started chuckling. “Jess, Jess, Jess...,” she began, shaking her head. “I’m really not up to anything with Cassie. We’re all just here to have some fun.”

“Yeah, right.”

“I am right,” she said. “You just don’t know it.” The corners of her mouth turned up, almost a smile and almost a gloat. “You really should relax and have some fun,” she continued, her voice almost a purr. “You know you won’t have as much fun when you go back and spend Christmas with Barry’s family.”

What the...?! Why was Hayley bringing up Barry again? I started to sputter, but Hayley interrupted before I could form words.

“Don’t worry, Jess,” she said. “No one needs to know what happens in Vermont. I’m sure if you think about it a little, you’ll agree.” With that, she turned and skied off, leaving me stewing.

She’d gotten the best of me again. Margot and Tommy were headed my way, but I didn’t want to talk to anyone right now. I said something to them about feeling sick and headed back to the shuttle stop. When I got to the chalet, I traded my skis for snow boots and took off on a long walk.

Eventually the hard exercise wore me out and I calmed down. I knew Hayley was up to something and I knew she’d gotten rid of Patricia. And she’d all but laughed in my face when I called her on it! The bitch. The royal bitch!

I was starting to doubt whether I really knew what I was sure I knew. At least if she’d threatened me, I’d have known I was right. Instead, she brought up Barry again, and repeated that damned line ‘No one needs to know what happens in Vermont!’ Think about it, hell!

Think about it, she’d said. ‘No one needs to know what happens in Vermont.’ Hayley was telling me that if I kept her secrets, she’d keep mine. Except I didn’t know her secrets, not really. And what secrets did I have? I hadn’t done anything in Vermont that I wanted kept a secret.

I took about three more steps before it clicked into place. Barry.

Hayley kept bringing up Barry. She knew that he wouldn’t be able to handle the near-orgies we’d had. He might not mind the fact that I’d watched, but he’d dump me in a minute if I actually joined in. That’s why Hayley had been pressuring me to do more than watch!

She’d set a trap for me. I hadn’t fallen in, thankfully. My mind raced through the rest of the past few days. Had I done anything that Hayley could blackmail me with?

Oh, no. She’d heard me say that Barry would freak out if he knew I was doing cocaine.

Shit!

She had me. I turned around and slowly trudged back to the chalet, wondering how I was going to get out of Hayley’s snare.
