Betrayal
Written: March 19, 2005
Betrayal was a bitch to write. Even harder to release, as evidenced from the date that it was written, March 2005, and the date I finally decided to put it on my web page, October, 2005. Simply stated, it hits too close to home.
How many support forums, how many chat rooms, how many local clubs or munches are devoted or filled with unhappy souls, desperately wishing their spouses would share the fantasy? The lifestyle? Even a scene or two? How many of these souls feel there is no ace in the hole, no rescuing cavalry, no easy option that will right the ship that is marriage without that fundamental intimacy, that sharing of fantasies that run deep? How many hearts are broken when that one you love doesn't want to understand. She or he who you made your vows to before everyone you hold dear. She or he who you wanted to spend the rest of your life with, grow old with. She or he who just doesn't get it.
I called this story Betrayal because there is a betrayal on both sides - the obvious one that is the adultery. But also the one that happens before, when there is no sharing, there is no coming together, no exploring hand in hand what maybe only one wants.
As I said, this one hits close to home. And no, this is not a true account. I remain faithful to my wife and have hopes that all remains well on the homefront.
