Sitting in a hospital bed all day can sort of get boring after a while. When I woke up the next morning, mom had left a note saying she would be back in the afternoon and told me to be nice to the doctors and nurses. Yeah, I'll be nice to them if they promise not to take out the morphine. I gotta admit, that stuff was the only thing keeping me sane.

I'd been watching TV for a good 3 hours and every now and then my nurse, Gretchen, who was a 56-year-old woman with long silver hair, would come in and check my vitals. Was a hot nurse too much to ask for? I mean, I know this isn't TV or the movies but people always get hot nurses on there. Can't Megan Fox walk in and check my vitals?

I was flipping through the channels and just decided to keep it on G4. Might as well find out what's good out while I'm bored to death.

"Beck!" I looked over at my door and saw my friends walking in. Hope and Jessie ran over to my bed and kissed all over my face.

"Argh! Stop! Lee and Mark will get the wrong idea," I protested, laughing when Hope slapped my good arm.

"We were trying to be friendly perv. Only you were thinking about it in a dirty way," she said, crossing her arms.

Mark laughed and pulled her into a hug. "How are you doing?" he asked, glancing at my cast and my bandaged head. "Bored. Do you think you could plug your X-box 360 into the TV? I bet they'd be Ok with that" I requested, smiling at him.

"How are you gonna play with one hand?" Jessie asked, pointing to my arm. "I'll find a way!" I exclaimed, laughing when Jessie stuck her tongue out at me.

I looked over at Lee and saw him standing over by the corner. "Come here Lee. I'm not gonna bite" I said, motioning him over to the bed.

He walked over toward me and Jessie took his hand. I looked down at their interlocked fingers and then at Lee again.

We were both having a mental conversation with our eyes and if we were talking, it would sound a lot like:

Lee: I'm so sorry. Are you all right?

Me: I'm fine. What's going on with you and Jessie?

Lee: You know I love her. Can't you see that by now?

Me: And Rachael?

Lee broke eye contact with me and I frowned. "So how long do you have to be here?" Hope asked, not noticing the tension between Lee and I.

"Uh…tomorrow around noon. I'll be back to school hopefully next week. I know the PTTP club misses me" I replied, looking over at Lee again.

He nodded. "Wouldn't be the same without our VP" he said, holding onto Jessie's hand tighter. Mark looked at Lee and I knew he realized something was up. God, Jessie and Hope are dense.

"Hey Hope, can you go ask the nurse about hooking my X-Box 360 into the TV for me?" Mark asked, smiling sweetly at her. Hope smiled back and nodded.

"Hang on Hope, I'll go with you. Bye babe" Jessie said, pecking Lee on the lips before walking out the room behind Hope.

Mark looked at us sternly and sat down in one of the chairs around the room. "Ok, what the hell is going on?" he asked.

Lee sighed. "It's nothing Mark. Things between Jessie and I are just…"

"Things with you and Jessie? This isn't about you and Jessie. It's about you and Rachael" I interrupted.

"Whoa! Who is Rachael?" Mark asked, arching his eyebrows at Lee.

"Nobody"

"Our boss"

Lee glared at me but I just kept talking. "Apparently Lee has feelings for Rachael, who happens to be our boss, and he's still in love with Jessie" I said, looking at Mark.

"You have feelings for her? Lee, what's going on?" he asked.

"We kissed! God, Ok. I kissed her but it didn't go anywhere passed that, I swear. I was just so used to Jessie and we've been together for 4 years and…I don't know! Rachael was new and exciting and I had fun when I was around. I guess I just…didn't realize what I was getting myself into" he replied, running his hands through his hair.

"And you don't have fun with Jessie? I remember when all you used to do was talk about Jessie" Mark exclaimed.

"I know. But people have falling outs every day. Our relationship just got…"

"Boring. Just because it's boring doesn't mean you throw it away! Just because you're not in love with this person anymore doesn't mean it's fair to just push them away and break their heart! Just because things are getting cliché doesn't mean you have any right to dictate over the relationship and say it's over. No. Fuck that! It's not over. It can't be over!" I exploded.

Mark and Lee both stared at me with wide eyes and I sighed and leaned my head back against the pillow.

"My mom said she's not in love with my father anymore…and I'm afraid that they may be…splitting up" I said softly.

Mark looked at the ground and Lee opened his mouth to speak but closed it again before deciding to just say something.

"Beck…I'm sorry to hear that and…I'm sorry if you may think that I'm making the same decision as your mom…but I love Jessie and I wanna make things work with her. I'll try my best to forget about Rachael. I swear I will. Just…please don't tell her. I don't know what I would do if I lost her. Please…" he whispered.

I nodded and Mark did the same. "Mark, they said you could hook up the…what's going on in here?" Hope asked, looking around at us.

"Um nothing! Just having a quick chat. Nothing serious" Mark replied, brushing her off.

Jessie walked in behind her and glanced over at Lee before looking over at me again. I knew what she was thinking and I decided to stop her before she jumped to conclusions.

"No! Jessie, Lee and I are just friends! We would never, I mean never, get together like that!" I exclaimed. Lee blushed but nodded his head furiously and added on with,

"Besides, Beck's gay".

"You're what?" Jessie exclaimed, looking over at me and back at Lee. I glared at him and his eyes widened in realization of what he just said.

"I said, Beck's lay. As in, Beck's a good lay" he said nervously. I threw my hands up in the air and he frowned at what he said again. "Ok, what the hell is that supposed to mean?" Jessie yelled.

"Ok. Fuck it. Jessie…I'm gay. I've been gay for a while and I've known I was gay since I was 12. I'm sorry I didn't tell you guys and Lee knows because he guessed and so did Melody-"

"Wait. Melody knew you were gay before we did?" Hope interrupted, arching her eyebrows at me and crossing her arms over her chest. I nodded.

"What the hell Beck? I thought we were friends. How come we were out of the loop?" she asked, frowning at me. Mark nodded his head in agreement.

"Wait. Hold on. So you guys don't care if I'm gay?" I asked, trying to make sure they knew what I was telling them.

"Of course we don't. Beck, you're our best friend. We love you either way and honestly, I think we all kind of knew" Jessie replied. Hope and Mark stated their agreement as well.

"Gee, Lee thanks for outing me!" I growled. He ducked and smiled sheepishly at me. "I'm sorry. I panicked a little" he replied.

"Don't be mad at Lee. I guess I just got a little jealous. I mean…you guys have been spending a lot of time together lately and I just thought, wait…oh my god! You totally want Natalie!" she shrieked, hopping up in down.

"W-What? What are you talking about? No I don't" I lied. Hope smiled and just arched her eyebrows at me.

"Oh shut up Beck. It's so clear now that I think about it. You did always hang out with her and you guys were so flirty" she said.

"Hold on. We weren't…flirty" I said in slight embarrassment. "Beck, trust me, she was flirting with you hardcore. All the tickling. The hugs. That piggyback ride thing. It's obvious she wants you" she shot back.

"…Seriously?"

"Uh Duh! Can't you tell when a girl likes you?"

"No girl has ever liked me!"

"Liar"

"How am I lying?"

"You're forgetting about Melody"

My jaw dropped and I pointed at all of them. "You all knew? All of you? How'd you know Melody liked me?" I exclaimed.

"Because she would just get to pissed whenever we came around you. God. It's like she thought we were just gonna jump on top of you and have our way with you. Which would have been hot but you're just not our type" Jessie said.

I flipped her off and she laughed. "So, all this time…" "Yes, we knew she liked you but we just thought you were being dense or you just didn't like her back. I guess we now know that you were just dense" Hope interrupted.

I got quiet and relaxed against the hospital bed. "She kissed me" I said bluntly. "Whoa! When was this?" Lee exclaimed, running over to the bed. Jessie smacked his arm. "Perv" she said, frowning at him.

"Last night before I got in that car accident. She told me she wants to be with me" I replied. "And what did you say back?" Mark asked, deciding to get involved in the conversation.

"I told her I'd think about it. Besides, you guys don't like her" I said, looking at them. Hope sighed. "Amiga, it's not that we don't like her. It's just, she wouldn't be good for you" she replied. Hope only used Amiga when she was trying to calm me down.

"What makes you say that? She's one of my best friends" I exclaimed in confusion. "Sometimes friends don't make the best couples. Did you ever think that maybe this is as far as your relationship with her gets? I think that if you two actually got together, one of you would end of heartbroken" she concluded.

"…I don't know. I mean, that kiss…something just felt, I don't know, different. Maybe things between us could work" "Or maybe they could go horribly wrong. Beck, what about Natalie? It's obvious she wants you too and don't even lie and say that you don't want her back" Mark said, crossing his arms like Hope had done before.

"Yes, I do like Natalie. I do want Natalie…but Melody has been here all along and I never realized that. She's giving me her heart and…and I don't wanna hurt her anymore" I said softly.

"Beck, you'd be hurting her even more by going out with her when you still clearly have feelings for Natalie" Jessie said. I glanced over at Lee and he looked down at the floor.

"…Even if that is true, I have to at least try. I have to give this a chance and if I doesn't work out then, oh well. At least we'll be able to say that we were really better as friends" I said, hoping they would understand.

"And Natalie? How is this going to make her feel?" Hope asked, begging me with her eyes not to do this.

"…I don't know. But if things with Melody don't work out…then I'll know that, deep down, Natalie was truly the one for me" I replied.

We got quiet and Jessie groaned. "God, this is such a TV drama right now. All we need now is the loving couple where the boyfriend cheats and the girlfriend doesn't know" she said, laughing.

Mark and I looked at each other and Lee fidgeted in his seat. "Mark, can you go get that X-Box now?" I asked. "Yeah, I'll be back in a while. Hope, can you drive me home?" he asked.

"Sure thing. Bye Beck, get well soon" she yelled, walking out the door behind him. Lee got up to leave and kissed Jessie on the top of her head before nodding at me and walking out the door.

I watched him go and then felt Jessie shaking my leg. "Beck, whatever you're going to do, I just want you to know that we're all going to support you" she said, smiling at me.

I smiled back and she leaned down and gave me a hug. "Thanks Jessie" I replied, holding her with my good arm.

"Get well soon Ok? I want to see you back in those club meetings. If you don't watch Lee for me, who will?" she said sarcastically. I nodded at her and she smiled. "See ya later…and oh! Um…what are you going to do?" she asked, stopping at the door.

"…I'm gonna give things with Melody a chance" I replied. She frowned a little and then sighed. "Just please, don't hurt Natalie in the process. She's really a sweet girl" she said.

I nodded and she walked out the door. Once everyone was gone, I leaned back against my bed and sighed. "You don't even know Jessie. God, you don't even know".
