Chapter 12: You Had Me From Hello

Summary: The 12th in a new on going series, exploring the life of Once and Again's wonderful characters of Jessie Sammler and Katie Singer and their family and friends. In this edition, Grace and Sarah finally confront, what's been building since the moment they met. Their growing attraction to one and another.

Sarah sat down on the bed and tried to get her pulse under control, reliving every moment of what had just happened at the door, much like she had every time she had seen Grace. Then she had an idea as she pulled out her old church songbook and started flipping through the pages. Coming to the song she was looking for, she started to write down the lyrics on a notepad. Thinking how much easier this would be if she could ever get her computer up and running. The lyrics where not exactly what she expected and she knew this idea would take some thought.
Putting on a movie and looking at the clock she wished time would move faster, but tried to concentrate on the project at hand. She would find herself thinking about Grace and not working from time to time through the evening but finally, forcing herself to concentrate enough to get the job finished. She breathed a deep sigh of relief and one of excitement too, when realizing what she had accomplished.
The movie, she had barely watched, finished and she figured it was good a time as any to go to bed. But the only thing she could think of was Grace, wondering whether she really felt the same and what would the next day bring. She finally did drift off and but only slept for a few hours, rising with the sun.
Wasting time and still working on her little project, trying to perfect it she thought. The hours passed far to slowly. Her heart nearly jumped threw her chest when she heard a knocking at the door. She stuffed the notepad under the mattress and put the songbook back in the closet. Then running to the back of the door, stopped long enough to compose herself, she opened it. Sarah felt her heart drop when she saw Michael standing their.
"Hey can I ask you a question" He said.
"Hey Michael" Sarah said with a complete lack of interest, "what is it?"
"Do you think that Zoë girl really likes me?" Michael asked nervously. Something Sarah thought was awfully cute.
"Honestly" Sarah started out then pausing for a second for effect, "yes she does."
"Are you sure" He asked excitedly, "cause I thought she did."
"Yeh she did" Sarah stepping out the door, "she said you where cute."
"Do you know when she'll be back over?"
"No she comes over with her sister sometimes" Sarah said.
"Oh is that your new girlfriend?" He asked leaning against the wall.
"No it's not" Sarah responded and then thought to herself, "at least not yet."
Hearing the buzzer Sarah's heart jumped again as Michael stepped inside and looked around her apartment.
"Yeh" Sarah said into the speaker, suddenly feeling very nervous.
"It's me buzz me up" Grace said.
Wasting no time she buzzed her in and grabbed Michael's arm and lead him to the door, "You gonna get to meet Zoë's sister right now Michael, my boy." She told him as they walked to the elevator.
A huge smile came across Sarah's face as Grace came into view from behind the door.
"And who ask you to come over this early?" Sarah asked as Grace stepped off the elevator.
"Well if you don't want me hear I can go" Grace said turning her back and feeling Sarah latch to her arm instantly and say "I was kidding....geez."
"I know" Grace said giggling.
"So your Zoë's sister?" Michael asked, "I'm Michael Logan"
"Hi Michael Logan" Grace said as Sarah tightened her grip on her arm.
"He's the one Zoë said was cute" Sarah said.
"Oh so your the famous Michael" Grace said smiling, "Well Zoë's at my dad's house right now, why don't you call her in a couple of hours and talk to her for a while." Grace offered.
Michael quickly agreed as Grace pulled a piece of paper out of her pocket and looked at Sarah and said, "Will you please let go for a second." Sarah released Grace's arm and gave her a pooched lip look for her troubles. Then walked away with her head hanging down.Grace handed Michael the number and told him to call after 11, and say Grace gave him the number. Michael thanked her and raced off down the hall.
"Are you mad at me?" Grace asked catching up with Sarah and looking over at her, while taking her arm.
"Maybe" Sarah said hiding a smile and keeping the pooched lip look as long as possible.
"Fine looks like your mad at me now" Grace said as they walked into the apartment and closed the door.
"Never" Sarah said turning to her and slipping her hand into Grace's.
"So now that I got rid of Zoë we gonna play like you said" Grace asked giggling.
"If you want" Sarah said pulling Grace towards the bed as Grace looked at her wondering if she was serious. Sarah then turned and raised her shirt up, showing Grace her stomach,and moving Grace's hand to it. Grace wasn't sure what to do, she allowed Sarah to lead her and she felt her hand moving slowly across Sarah's mid-section. "So am I turning you on?"
"UMMMM" Grace mumbled with her hand still on Sarah's stomach, and Sarah started to smile and said, "you know me by now Grace, I'm such a tease" and then dropped Grace's hand and lowered her shirt and started to laugh.
"One of these days girl" Grace said taking her coat off and laying it in the chair.
"What you gonna do something?" Sarah asked with a huge smile on her face.
"Yeh I am and right now" Grace said feeling very bold. She moved by Sarah and sat down on the bed. Then taking a hold of Sarah's shirt as she turned around, Grace pulled her close. Grace could smell the intoxicating aroma of Sarah's perfume.
"What you gonna..." Sarah said being cut off in mid-sentence when Grace raised Sarah's shirt and again exposed her stomach. She then leaned close to her as Sarah watched and waited breathlessly for her next move. Grace smiled shyly as she kissed Sarah's belly button every so gently, letting her tongue dance around it. Sarah's eyes widened and let a small moan escape her mouth. She could feel Grace's hand on her back and holding her as Grace again kissed her stomach softly, not one but kiss after kiss across it. Sarah could feel her body respond and desperately wanted Grace to continue.
"See I'm a tease too" Grace said smiling up at Sarah and letting her shirt fall back over her stomach.
"WOW" Sarah said trying to recover her mental factions.
"Did you like it?" Grace asked for the first time as she stood up. With a sexy tone of voice.
"UMMMM yeh" Sarah started coming eye to eye with Grace, "your lips are so soft."
"You know that's so unfair" Grace said.
"What?"
"You showed me your belly button but you never asked to see mine." Grace replied unbuttoning the lower buttons on her blouse, "you do wanna see it right?"
"Yeh anything you wanna show me" Sarah said smiling and being serious and half kidding. Grace pulled the sides apart and Sarah moved her hand as Grace exposed her own stomach. Looking for Grace's approval before she touched her, then feeling Grace take her hand and put it against her skin. The sensations of Sarah's touch surprised her.
"Yeh that's it" Grace said thinking she sounded so dorky at that moment.
Sarah looked one last time at Grace and with her hand moving across her mid-section Sarah sat down on the bed and just like Grace had done, kissed Grace's belly button, softly and slowly, letting her tongue dance around it. Grace had the same reaction as she did, Sarah thought. Moving a few inches higher she kissed her skin again softly and repeated this every few inches going up. Till she moved to Grace's blouse and kept kissing her way up even further, moving between her breasts she kissed lightly on each one and looked at Grace for approval. But Grace eye's where closed and Sarah then kissed her neck below her chin. Then meeting Grace's eyes, she smiled, the hole time pulling Grace's body closer to her.
"Do you know what I'm thinking right now?" Grace asked quietly of Sarah.
"No tell me" Sarah said.
"Your not a very good tease anymore" Grace said touching Sarah's cheek with her hand.
"Sometimes I like teasing you and sometimes I can feel what you need." Sarah said, "and I'll always give you what you need."
"I hope so" Grace said her heart pounding a mile a minute.
"You want me to stop?" Sarah asked with a smile.
"Well you've done a lot more than I did" Grace said as Sarah moved and let her arms fall from Grace's body.
"True" Sarah said, "if you wanted me to stop you could have told me."
"I didn't say anything cause I didn't want you to" Grace said.
"Remind me of that next time" Sarah said giggling and walking away.
"And who says there will be a next time you tease" Grace said.
"No one did actually." Sarah smiled standing by the window now, "but I'm beginning to think you liked it."
"HUH you wished" Grace said moving towards her, "of course if you can't get me you'll probably try to hook up with Zoë."
"Grace Manning" Sarah said in surprise, "you are not funny."
"OH sure like you didn't like kissing her" Grace said now standing next to Sarah.
"Yeh, her lips are so soft" Sarah said trying to make Grace jealous, "maybe we should have a three way huh."
"Sarah!" Grace said, "your impossible...I swear"
Sarah started laughing as Grace walked away. Then moving behind her she wrapped her arms around her neck and whispered "the only person I really want is you."
"That thought isn't so bad" Grace said.
"Does it scare you?" Sarah asked.
"A little" Grace admitted as they both sat down on the bed.
"Well you know honestly what I want more than anything is your friendship" Sarah said, "if we never got anywhere I'd still want you as my friend, cause I don't have a real best friend and you've become that."
"And what about Zoë" Grace said smiling.
"She's a good kisser" Sarah said putting her arm around Grace, "and she's my little sister. I love her."
"I wanna be your friend too" Grace said, "no matter what."
"So you staying here tonight" Sarah asked
"If you want" Grace replied, "and you can keep your hands off me. Cause I could hear you last night moaning my name as you.....well you know."
"Grace Manning I was not" Sarah defending herself, "just because I have an incredibly sexy girl laying next to me don't mean I'm having fantasies about her."
"You think I'm sexy?" Grace asked a little stunned.
"Yes" Sarah said emphatically, "Very sexy."
"I guess the feelings are mutual" Grace said looking away shyly, and feeling herself blush.
"WOW" Sarah said.
They sat there for a long time and just watched TV and neither said anything. Until Sarah mentioned watching a movie and Grace went to the closet to pick one out and found an interesting surprise.
"Sarah you got a computer and didn't even tell me" Grace said as Sarah came around the corner and watched as Grace moved the box out of the closet, "why don't you use it?"
"I don't know anything about it" Sarah admitted, "when it comes to things like that I'm clueless."
"Sarah clueless I don't believe it" Grace said opening the box and seeing this huge flat screen monitor, "damn this is flat screen. Where did you get this at?"
"My uncle sent it to me for Christmas" Sarah said, "and I've never been able to figure out how to hook it up."
"Can I" Grace asked seeing a scanner box and printer still in the back of the closet.
"Really will you?" Sarah asked getting excited.
"Yeh" Grace said smiling at Sarah.
"Thank you" Sarah said helping Grace pull it out of the box setting it up on her cluttered desk.
"You don't have to thank me" Grace said, "I'm doing it for you."
"Come on admit it Grace" Sarah said smiling and moving in front of her, "you like me, you really like me."
"I thought you had figured that out by now" Grace said smiling, "or are you not as smart as that pretty head looks."
"Well maybe you could tell me" Sarah said moving her hand across Grace's forehead moving her hair out her eyes.
Grace smiled and took a deep breath and swallowed hard before getting the courage to admit something she had been feeling for a while now and just wouldn't let herself feel it until today. "I'm falling for you Sarah" Grace said in an almost whisper and looking down, not wanting to see Sarah's reaction right away,"You had me from Hello."
"That's the way I felt from the moment I met you" Sarah said with a huge smile on her face and feeling her heart pound out of control, "and don't worry I'll catch you, cause I'm crazy about you too."
Grace looked at Sarah for the first time as Sarah's fingers touched her chin and she rose to met her eyes. Sarah's finger's moved to Grace's lips like before and she leaned close and hesitated a second before kissing her fingers and smiling at Grace. Grace moved her hand to Sarah's fingers and kissed them before moving them away from her lips.
"You are so beautiful" Sarah said with her face still inches from Grace's.
"You are too" Grace responded and then smiling and wrapping her arms around Sarah's neck, "my heart's pounding."
"Me too and it's because of you" Sarah said pulling Grace closer and wrapping her arms around her waist. Both felt a moment of nerves, and then slowly leaned towards each other but Sarah hesitated wanting Grace to make the move. Grace thought for a second if this is what she wanted and with her heart pounding she decided it was, and slowly for the first time pressed her lips softly to Sarah's. Sarah responded slowly, moving her lips against Grace's in their first kiss.
Thinking how her lips where so soft, Sarah moved faster and pulled Grace in more. Stopping for a second to test Grace's reaction, Sarah watched as Grace smiled, and kissed her again. As Sarah touched Grace's cheek with her fingers lightly and savored the moment. Grace too was savoring the moment and letting herself feel the feeling she had denied since she met Sarah. A few seconds later Grace and Sarah parted, touching their heads together and smiling at one another.
"I can't believe I just did that" Grace commented to Sarah in a whisper.
"I know it sorta surprised me too" Sarah said honestly.
"Never thought I'd ever kiss a girl" Grace said letting her eyes met Sarah's and feeling this incredible rush.
"Are you sorry you did?" Sarah asked also in a whisper and feeling that same rush.
"No" Grace replied smiling and then kissing Sarah's lips softly again before saying, "I'm glad I did."
"Scare me to death there" Sarah said giggling, "thought you where gonna say it was nasty."
"No, it was something new, but definitely not nasty" Grace said, "might take a while to get used to it, but you'll help me adjust right?"
"OH Yeh" Sarah said still giggling, "I can give you some pointers."
"I'll bet you can" Grace said keeping a straight face, "cause I'll bet there's been plenty...."
"Grace their has not" Sarah said pleading her case, "I swear. Katie was the first and only one."
"Uh huh sure" Grace said moving her arms away and continuing the charade.
"Grace it's true" Sarah said panicking until she saw Grace turn and smile.
"I'm kidding Sarah" Grace leaning close and taking Sarah's face in her hands and kissing her, "it was a joke."
"OH I should kill you" Sarah said picking up a pillow, "make my heart stop why don't you."
"Make your heart stop, well why would it do that" Grace said trying to hide a giggle.
"Because I thought you where mad at me or something already" Sarah replied and hitting Grace with the pillow, "you are not funny."
"I'm sorry" Grace said covering up on the bed and laughing out loud, "just don't hurt me."
Sarah laid the pillow down as Grace uncovered and crawled on to the bed, moving behind Grace she wrapped her arms around her waist and laid her head on Grace's shoulder, "I would never hurt you, Grace, never." She said in a tone that said this is for your ears only and kissing her cheek, "I couldn't live with myself if I did. Even with Katie, she dumped me, not the other way around."
"Why do I believe you so completely" Grace asked Sarah.
"Because...." Sarah said pretending to think long and hard about it before going on, "your in love with me?"
"Could be it" Grace said smiling and feeling Sarah hug her tighter.
"It is" Sarah said, "you don't have to say anything I can feel it."
"You are so sweet" Grace said turning around on the bed and kissing Sarah again briefly.
"And you are still amazing" Sarah said thinking about her little plan and smiling, "My Amazing Grace."
"Do I make you that happy?" Grace asked.
"Yeh you really do" Sarah replied then looking at the computer said, "you'll make me even happier if you finish putting together my computer."
"Oh" Grace said acting disappointed, "I thought we could spend the rest of the night making out."
"Oh My god you are so bad" Sarah said pulling Grace off the bed, "first work then play."
Grace smiled at Sarah as she pulled the rest of the computer out of the box and got the scanner and printer box out of the closet. While Sarah with a goofy grin splashed across her face, moved the chair over to the window and with her songbook and notepad began to write and think. Grace would find herself staring back at Sarah from time to time as would Sarah at Grace, one would smile and blush and the other would turn away. Grace finally got everything off of Sarah's desk, including a piece of pizza that looked like it had been there since the first Bush administration. She hooked everything up slowly, but surely as Sarah continued to work. Letting out an excitable giggle every few minutes or so.
