TITLE: Melissa Tells All
I like the way the author frames this story; as a story within a story. Melissa isn't just narrating the story, she is telling Mark, her boyfriend about her past because she feels that he needs to know before they get too committed to one another. She doesn't want to lose him and she fears that telling mark about her relationship with her father will drive Mark away, but in Melissa's estimation this is a necessary risk.
One element that makes this story a little different from most other incest stories I have read is the fact that Melissa's family are nudists. It seemed to me to be an integral part of the story and not merely a plot device to get Melissa and her Dad naked.
I am not as impressed with the whole of this story as I am by parts of it. I think that it probably should have split into two stories. The first story would cover the weekend when Melissa and her dad make love for the first time. The second would be about what happened after that weekend. Why? Because the tone and pacing change noticeably once the weekend is over and Mom returns home. Then daughter and father have to [or choose to] hide their affair. Does Mom ever find out? Yes, she does. What is her reaction? You'll have to read the story if you want an answer to that question.
The story is a little longer than I would like it to be. In particular, I think that the author goes into more graphic detail than necessary when describing the first weekend. Less is more and I think that the story would have benefited from cutting out some of the graphic details; not all or even most, but certainly some of them. After a point it felt repetitious without adding anything to the story.
The part that takes place after Mom returns, the second story, isn't meant to be quite the same. As I said before, the pace and tone change. It goes from one frantic weekend alone, together, to sneaking around behind Mom's back until eventually daughter and father are caught red-handed by Mom. I don't want to reveal too much, but I will say that Mom doesn't exactly take it in stride and this affects the emotional balance within the family. One point that I am trying to make, in my round about way of putting things, is that there are considerably fewer depictions of sex after the initial weekend is over and considerably more time given to the realistic implications and impact their affair has on the family.
Melissa is not an only child. Her brother and sister are away on away that fateful weekend. I don't have a problem with that. What does bother me is the fact that after they return, as does Mom, there is virtually no mention of them. I have a hard time believing they could be living in the same household and not sense that something is going on. Even if there wasn't much in the way of details given, I would like to know how if at all it impacted their relationships with their parents and their sister.
I have been critical of this story, but that does not mean it isn't worth reading. I have been pointing to the gray cloud and ignoring the silver lining: the hot sex. It is there. Trust me. I just felt obligated to tell you about more than just the good parts.
One thing I will say about the sex is that even on the first weekend, when it is hot and wet, Melissa and her Dad do have doubts and second thoughts. Being alone in an empty house for a weekend, doing something very taboo, seems to help them push those feelings aside, but they still have them and they still express them.
