Chapter 45 - Educating Melissa - Meet The Parents - has been posted. For those who have wondered about Greg Livingston's background, this chapter should give you that. This chapter is all about the Livingstons, and Melissa learns quite a bit during an evening alone with just her parents. Chapter 46 will be posted sometime between June 1-16, hopefully closer

I've modified the "Melissa's Secrets" story page to add in chapter headings as well as dates that each chapter covers. Hopefully this will help readers who like to go back to prior chapters to re-read something being discussed further in the current one. On the far right side of the page, I've also added a date that reflects the last date that chapter has been updated/reposted. Sometimes either Nick or I will find little things that just need fixing.Very rarely is it an actual change to what was occuring. Over the coming months, Nick and I will be going back through the earlier chapters and correcting a number of grammatical things we've found. First, I’d like to thank my readers for the feedback. I was able to catch up with my replies through about the time of my last blog, but now I have a 2-3 week backlog again. I will reply as soon as I can. I’ve tried to focus solely on the story over the past month, and likely will for the next week or so. Second, Chapter 41 won’t be posted today. However, it is written and is going through a final proof/edit. While that is occurring, I’ve been working on chapters 42-44. Chapter 42 is shaping up very nicely. The fleshing out of the outlines for chapters 43 & 44 is coming along well. So, my goal of getting back to a more regular posting is looking very promising. If all goes as planned this coming week, Chapter 41 will be posted by next Saturday. What’s in chapter 41? A whole lot. It is by far the longest chapter I have ever written. It is close to 30,000 words (or 155k in size). Of course, size isn’t everything. It’s what you do with it that is important. So what is in it? Lots of secrets and revelations, lots of sex (wooohooo!), an afternoon with Doris ... and a friend, church night, and a night at the Thomases full of new and fun things for Melissa to discover and learn about. Also, whose hand is that between Mel’s thighs while eating supper? What goes on upstairs in the Thomases house? You got it - Melissa finds out ... in a big way. The chapter is quite an adventure for Mel. But there are interesting talks as well about Mel’s parents, the Clarks, and others. Melissa learns a little more about Pastor Thomas’s past. And just what is the deal between Doris and Colleen anyway? Yep, you’ll find out. So, hang in there with me as Nick and I get everything shaped up. Following up with something I mentioned in my last blog - I indicated that the last few chapters were focused more on revelations, and less on sex, and that the remaining chapters would be a much better balance of sex and erotic discoveries along with the drama and revelations, more like the earlier chapters. A number of people wrote that they didn’t want less drama and revelations. Don’t worry. I’m just planning to ramp the sex and accidental discoveries back up a few notches. I just wanted to update everyone on things. Chapter 41 of Melissa’s Secrets is getting close to finished, but it likely won’t be posted for at least several more weeks. Chapter 40 of “Melissa’s Secrets” is posted. This chapter focuses a great deal on Melissa, Sarah and their moms. The long awaited discussion between the four of them about all the things the moms have been doing happens in a big way. No stone is left unturned by the girls, and they get practically all of the answers they were looking for. Some of them are quite stunning to all of them. Melissa will learn some things from Sarah they hadn’t discussed yet. It is in many ways a “come to Jesus” discussion. Along with the discussion at the Clarks, this chapter continues to follow the ever evolving relationship between Melissa and her mother, leading to more interesting moments between them. Thanks again to my editor, Nick. This chapter was a lot of work for him because of huge number of revelations. Everything that was discussed at the Clarks had to be cross-checked with prior chapters, as well as planned ones in some cases. As usual, he caught everything I don’t. I don’t know that this chapter is without flaws, but it has far fewer than there would’ve been. Because of the holidays, Chapter 41 most likely won’t be posted until January 11. Enjoy the weekend! Over the course of the evening, Melissa will learn quite a bit about her boyfriend's family. Even Peter will learn some things he didn't know. Just how did everything begin ... at least for them? Chapter 40 is in the works. It's another huge chapter. It likely will be around December 15th before it is posted. Hopefully it might be sooner. Chapter 37 of “Melissa’s Secrets” will be posted Saturday, September 29. This chapter focuses a great deal on Jennifer, Sarah, and Melissa. Of course, Melissa’s mom is also an important player in most everything right now. This chapter also includes Melissa’s trip to a photography studio to make the perfect portrait for Peter’s birthday. Along with everything else, this chapter continues to follow the ever evolving relationship between Melissa and her mother. Mom sets boundaries, and Melissa pushes them ... or does Mom forget where she set them? There’s some interaction between them about that very thing. I think the way they end up talking about it will be a lot of fun for the readers. Chapter 38 is actually what was going to be the last half of chapter 37. I ended up splitting it because of the length and all the time it was taking to write it. It is filled with revelations and admissions involving Jamie and Pam. It answers quite a few questions from earlier in the story, as well as giving us a better view of each one's past and how it affected Melissa’s life. I hope to have it ready by October 13, but don’t look for it until October 20. Life has a tendency of getting in the way of my writing. Chapter 39 will cover Peter’s birthday party at the Rayners house. That chapter is well on its way to being completed. Hopefully it will follow several weeks after chapter 38. For those curious, “Melissa’s Secrets” is now up to at least 51 chapters. There’s a real likelihood of it growing by several more. In recent months, I’ve found myself splitting quite a few chapters because of length. I’m guessing Book 1 could wind up being as many as 54 chapters when it’s over with. Book 2 will follow some months later. Thanks again to my editor, Nick. He catches everything I don’t, which is a lot. He is a pleasure to work with and has significantly improved “Melissa’s Secrets”. Just an update. I’ve completed a re-write of “Melissa Tells All”. I’ve changed the story from present to past tense. While the storyline is basically the same, the dialogue has changed quite significantly. Also, I’ve added additional scenes in it. I believe it is a much better story. It will read much like “Melissa’s Secrets” when re-posted. Nick is putting some final editing touches on it. I’m unsure at this time though when I’ll post it. I’m probably going to wait until I finish the re-write of “Mark Tells His Story”. That likely means it will be sometime during July or August. As for “Melissa’s Secrets”, a number of issues that my editor and I had problems with concerning chapter 32 have been resolved. I’ve also done quite a bit of writing over the past few weeks. However, the chapter has become a monster (130k), and it is still not finished. I’m seriously debating whether to break it into two chapters. What would be chapter 33 still needs a fair amount of work to complete it, but I likely can do that over the next few weeks. What would be chapter 32 needs a few light touches and a final edit. I’ll make a decision sometime over the coming week. If I do split it, I’ll likely post Chapter 32 over the next few weeks. If I don’t split it, it likely will be the end of the month when it is posted. Chapter 32 as a whole is a very pivotal chapter in the story. Breaking it down will take some care. I don't like the shape it is in, and I feel like I'm getting no where with it right now. So, I've decided to put the story aside for a while and focus on some other things for now. I have dozens of ideas for stories I've partially sketched out over the past ten years. One of them is a sequel to "Mark Tells His Story". Thanks go to my editor, Nick, for all the hard work. Some new characters have been added to the Cast page for upcoming chapters. Most of these characters will mainly appear in Book 2. Some additional details have been added to many of the existing characters. I tentatively plan to post chapter 32 around May 5, but that could easily change. Chapter 30 of Melissa’s Secrets has been posted. Sorry that it took a little longer than usual to finish, but that’s life. If anyone has a spare one, I could use it. I promise not to defile it too much. If you haven’t read chapter 30 yet, a few major things from prior chapters are revealed. Just who was at Melissa’s house the night she snuck home to get that music CD? Yep, Mel discovered who ... and what rooms they were in too. Also, who were all the people in the Clark’s bedroom during Melissa’s first blindfold game? You got it. She also finds that out. Unfortunately, the next chapter will also suffer the same fate as chapter 30, but should be ready to post around April 7. Some more fun things from earlier chapters will get revealed in it as well. Thanks again go to my editor, Nick. I believe the quality of my writing has improved because of his efforts. Yay Nick! He’s got a tough job putting up with me. Also, he had nothing to do with this rambling long-winded blog post. I take full responsibility. The reason for the delays lately, you ask? Well, several reasons. The main one being that I’ve been working on getting my thoughts together for ... *drum roll* “Melissa’s Secrets - Breaking Dawn Part 2: Return of the Jedi (The Director’s Cut - Unrated Edition)” Well, that’s the short version of the working title I’m going with. It sounds much more intriguing than just saying “Book 2”, and there COULD be characters named Bella and Luke. Bella of course would be a part of the dark side that is out to destroy Melissa. Bella’s evil blood sucking boyfriend would turn out to be her father (Mel’s daddy is way cuter though - I’m totally Team Greg). Luke would have a cute twin sister who’s a bit of a drama queen (someone is always trying to destroy her alliance blah! blah! blah!). But she’ll have this really cool droid that can do amazing things, and has some seriously neat extras with it. You have to pay big bucks for unlimited data though. If you can’t afford the unlimited data, just put it on vibrate and enjoy! Every girl should have one. I better stop there though, before I give out too many spoilers. Anyway, Nick is helping me by looking for any continuity problems with the plot and storylines sketched out so far for Book 2. And, so far, things are looking pretty good. As I alluded to three weeks ago, during the upcoming weeks I’ll be reposting most of the earlier chapters of Book 1. Again, nothing is changing as far as the plot or storyline. The revisions will focus mainly on corrections to my sometimes really crappy grammar and some minor continuity issues that Nick has found. An updated Cast of Characters will be posted soon as well, with ages for everyone as of chapter 1 (that would be “August 13 of Year One” ... Chapter 30 is “July 29 of Year Two”). I’m getting excited about writing the sequel to Melissa’s Secrets (at the moment called Book 2). The plot is still a bit up in the air, but it’s coming together. There likely will be at least several months between the two “books”. I’d like to write a short story or two that I’ve had in mind for quite some time now. During March, I’ll be reposting most of the earlier chapters. Again, nothing is changing as far as the plot or storyline. Sorry for the delay, but with the new chapters I’ve added to the story, I’ve been slowing things down to make sure I don’t create continuity problems. My editor, Nick, has been helping me with this. While the basic plot and ending aren’t changing, there are a number of new scenes involving characters and subplots I hadn’t planned to focus on at all in this story. The story will likely be 38 chapters (not including the Epilogue) when completed. For those of you that have been asking for a sequel, I haven’t been convinced that there is a compelling story to tell in a follow-up to “Melissa’s Secrets”. I thought if anything, I’d write a prequel. I have some great ideas for that. But, after further thought and consideration, I believe I have a plot that will work quite well. It will follow two different storylines with a number of subplots and twists. I’m in the process of doing a rough outline of things. The more I outline, the more excited I’m getting about it. So, it looks like our fair heroine Melissa will have some new secrets to discover and deal with, as well as some old ones. Fairly soon I will be reposting most of the earlier chapters. Chapter 27 is now posted. I ended up splitting the chapter in half because of the size. I also want to do a little more work with a new scene I decided to add as well. As I mentioned in my prior posting, I also now have an editor. His name is Nick. He’ll be looking for things I always miss. He’s already saved me a significant amount of time. This should be one of my “cleanest” chapters ever. Nick is also putting together a wonderful and extensive timeline for the whole story. Chapter 27 is going to be delayed at least a few days. So look for it around January 23-24. The reason? It’s another huge chapter (about 16,000 words). I also now have an editor (everybody say hi to Nick!) checking it over. He’ll be looking for things I always miss. He’s also putting together a wonderful and extensive timeline for the whole story. What he’s done so far has been extremely helpful to me. He found a continuity error in Chapter 9 that EVERYBODY else has missed. It was pretty significant. It’s now fixed. I’ve also fixed a mix-up in Chapter 26 concerning Pam’s father. I referred to him as Brent, when it should’ve been Kent. Why the fuck did I pick names so similar to use? Let’s just call it a blonde moment and move on. Anyway, I hope everyone has broken all their New Year resolutions by now. If you haven’t yet, what the hell are you waiting for? Chapter 26 is posted. It ended up being over 16,000 words (or about 88k in size). I resisted breaking it up into multiple chapters. Unfortunately, it's a lot to read at one time. It's official. Chapter 25 won't get posted until January 7, 2012. I just won't have the time to finish proofing it before next weekend. That sucks. BUT! I've just reposted a corrected version of Chapter 18. There was a rather significant continuity error that a dedicated reader caught when reading Chapter 24. There was a statement in Chapter 18 by Mrs. Thomas that she and Andrea had not ever been paid for sex. I'd written Chapter 18 back in August and posted it in late-September. Around the time, I was heavily focused on adding scenes back into the story (Chapters 22-29) that I'd dropped six years ago. Unfortunately, I missed this continuity problem. It's been fixed by removing the reference completely from Chapter 18. At the moment, it appears there will be a delay in posting Chapter 25. I'm still shooting for December 31, but things are getting quite busy for me this week, and next week doesn't bode well. My hubby surprised me with a special New Year's Eve present that will occupy all my time late next week. He's a sweetie like that. Hopefully, I'll have time to finish proofing Chapter 25 before then. I've added Chapter 24 today. I'm working on completing Chapter 25. It's finished except for proof reading. I'll likely post it on December 31, but it's also very possible it might get delayed a week because of the holidays. Chapters 26-27 are written, but need more cleaning up and proofing. Chapters 28-29 are still my primary focus. They're taking shape quite nicely though. Jennifer Preston will become a big player in the next few chapters. Melissa will discover that there is more to Jennifer's relationship with Peter than she ever imagined. Are they lovers? Or are they just friends? Is Jennifer hiding a few secrets too?
