SUMMARY: Paul learns about sex from a number of sources and experiences sex with a number of women at a nudist camp, the summer after his fifteenth birthday.

COMMENTARY: I found this story to be very credible. Credible in the sense that Paul's feelings and reactions to what he encounters and experiences really resonated with me. I could empathize with a lot of what he was feeling even if I have not experienced everything that he has. I can remember being very horny at fifteen. I can also remember being very uninformed about women and sex. Would I have responded the same way as Paul did if it had been me instead of him? Maybe. I'm not sure, but I am certain that I would have experienced a similar mixture of sexual arousal and embarassment that he did.

TECHNICALLY SPEAKING: I recommend not trying to read this story in one or two or even three sittings. Pace yourself and read a chapter or two at a time. It is long. Savor it. Enjoy it. There aren't too many stories out there as long and as good as this one is.

SLIGHTLY OFF-TOPIC: I would characterize this story as a 'coming of age' story (no pun intended) rather than a 'first time' story. What's the difference? First and foremost a 'coming of age' story is about a time in someone's life when they got through a learning process which is usually accompanied by and sometimes occurs because of an event or series of events. 'Coming of age' stories usually feature protangonists that are in their teens or early twenties. By comparison, 'First time' stories focus on an event or an experience when the main character tries something for the first time, usually either sex or a particular variety of sex. Another way of explaining the difference (as I see it) is that 'coming of age' stories focus on what happens to the main character, internally, and 'first time' stories focus on what happens, in other words the events themselves. That's probably an over-simplification, but one that I believe to be true for the most part.

The other thing that distinguishes a 'coming of age' story from a 'first time' is the length of time over which it transpires. A 'coming of age story usually takes place over a period of time that can range from a few weeks to a few years or anything in between. A 'first time' story usually takes place over a relatively short period of time. I would not classify a story that takes place over an extended period of time and involves a 'first time' as a 'coming of age' story unless it focuses on what happens to the main character, i.e., how he or she evolves emotionally.
